Still RDR1 and Gran Turismo 6. Got Baldur’s Gate 3 waiting but I will prolly play it over the summer holidays to give it the attention it deserves. Let my Game Pass sub lapse in a gesture of protest at Microsoft’s recent string of poor decisions.
Red Dead Redemption (which holds up incredibly well both graphics and gameplay-wise) and Gran Turismo 5. The latter stutters a bit here and there but it’s very playable. I’m playing on ROG Ally.
@nomither6 I can’t say for sure (I haven’t unlocked any yet) but I saw settings for achievements in Retrobat (which I use) and Emudeck. I remember reading about achievements unlocking properly when using Emudeck so I guess they work as intended.
Well folks, that’s why emulation is the saviour of gaming- not backward compatibility (which will always be limited). My ROG Ally is already letting me play the likes of Red Dead Redemption, Forza Horizon 2 and Fight Night Round 4 very well. I have a long list of games still to play from the 360 era and I will definitely be doing just that even when that store closes.
Red Dead Redemption and getting to grips with Fight Night Round 4 (the controls are a step up compared to FNR3). Both on my ROG Ally. Have a good weekend everyone!
I’m on my 7th playthrough of Cyberpunk 2077, first time as a female V and a corpo rat. I can safely say this game is my all time no 1 in my 30 years of gaming (somehow trumped Mass Effect and RDR2). Also replaying Horizon Zero Dawn before I dive into Forbidden West. Some Forza Horizon 5 via xCloud which works miles better on my ROG Ally than it did on my previously owned Steam Deck. Happy gaming all!
@HelloCraig Thanks! I had a Steam Deck OLED and while I liked many things about it I decided to upgrade to a ROG Ally because games like Horizon Forbidden West are basically barely playable/unplayable on it already. I’m still getting to grips with my Ally but I already like it a lot! A handheld PC is basically the only way I can game these days and it’s reignited my somewhat dying love for games.
It’s WRC 10 for me mostly. I’ve lost all interest in modern games due to the bloat, open world tedium, DLC, MTX, GaaS and all that nonsense. I’m going to go back to the roots so I’m going to go back to Vampire: Bloodlines and see how well it works on my Steam Deck.
I went back to Baldur’s Gate 3 and I’m loving it again. Also playing Paw Patrol World with my daughter 🙂 (both on my Steam Deck, BG3 in handheld mode while PPW docked).
@AtlanteanMan Couldn’t agree more. I’ve actually been playing a lot of PS2 games lately on my Steam Deck and I’m amazed at how much fun I’ve had. Can’t say the same about most modern releases. Games used to be fun, first and foremost, not hyped-up hollow shells riddled with DLC, MTX and tailored to milk the fanbase dry to the shareholders delight.
Lately I’ve been bouncing around a lot. Been playing Fight Night Round 2, Dirt Rally 2.0 and a lot of Dying Light. Had another go at Elden Ring but gave up again. Soulslikes are just too much for my patience.
@LaurenceJ1987
I thought I was the only one… it’s a beautiful game, but the difficulty spikes and the repetetiveness of the missions made me switch to Dying Light (the first one). It holds up amazingly well and puts Dead Island 2 to shame in so many ways it’s not even funny.
I use it fairly often on my Steam Deck. So far I’ve played As Dusk Falls, Far Cry 6, Forza 8 and now I’m playing Dead Island 2. There are occasional slowdowns or lag, but the experience is still great for what it is.
I have zero complaints about streaming games via xCloud on my Steam Deck. I’m using an app called XBplay and it works flawlessly. I’m midway through Dead Island 2 atm and the stream is a steady 1080p/60 with rare stutter or lag. Definitely enjoying it.
It’s a good game. Great graphics but gameplay isn’t on par with Dying Light, which is an older game. I’m enjoying it for what it is, though. 7/10 from me.
I’m a few hours into Dead Island 2 and I really like it. The graphics are outstanding, but the gameplay is a tad less inspired than Dying Light.
I also miss the horror aspect, but Condemned 1 is taking care of that for me right now.
I’ve also managed to get Richard Burns Rally to run on my Steam Deck. Never thought I would live to see the day when Linux can run pretty much any Windows game. Happy gaming!
Looks nice, but I won’t be buying it. Actually, I’m hoping Sony comes up with a streaming service that lets me stream their games catalogue to any device, much like Game Pass, and I won’t ever buy any more consoles/hardware. A tv with native Game Pass/PS Pass will be enough.
@DKGXX85
This. They had one job- make a new Batman game… I’m currently finishing my 3rd playthrough of the Arkham trilogy and these games still rock(steady).
Hahaha. Have you guys played Body Blows Galactic? A fighting game for Amiga and PC back in the day. Or… dare I say it… GTFO? I mean the game. It’s a game, I swear! I mean, I’m not swearing! Ugh. Just delete it mods lol
I have a 600 Mb internet badwidth and I’m using Game Pass strictly via xCloud on my Steam Deck. I’ve already finished As Dusk Falls (fantastic game), tried Persona 3 Reload (prefer the FES version on PS2 via PCSX) and I’m currently playing Forza 8 and Tales of Arise. I’m loving this way of gaming. Zero downloads, rare fps drops/lag. Also, I’ve already had a few situations when I had to wait about 5 mins to start playing as the servers were full, so cloud gaming is becoming a thing finally.
Wonderful news. I use Game Pass solely via xCloud but I do have 30-40 games I own from the time I owned a Series X. I hope they deliver on that promise.
I’m about to finish Arkham City. Still a brilliant game. I’m also midway through Condemned: Criminal Origins (holds up really well) and playing career mode in Forza 8 (best racer I’ve played and the graphics blow GT7 out of the water). Tried P3 Reload but I don’t like it. I don’t like the updated soundtrack and voiceovers. Also prefer the art style of the PS2 original. Guess I’ll just replay FES at some point.
A huge nothing burger as others have said. The new console can be 8K/240 capable and it won’t matter if they sleepwalk through the launch period with the games, as they did with Series consoles. Series X is a great console, just needs more quality games. I’m cautiosly optimistic about Xbox’s future (Game Pass and cloud stay) but fully prepared to be disappointed again when it comes to games.
Still Forza 8 career mode. Really like the game. For story-driven games I’m playing Condemned 2. Holds up really well and can still be scary. Some WRC4 on the side as a palate cleanser. All of the above on my Steam Deck.
I expect a lot of corporate mumbo jumbo that will be dissected by gaming sites and gamers alike for quite a while. I expect to hear a lot of: ‚we’re listening…. We are committed… When we all play, we all win… Ka-Ching and champagne being opened sounds somewhere in the offices of MS brass. Besides that, I’ll wait before I pass judgement.
@S-Bacc
I’m not projecting anything onto anyone. I did say that I’ll be fine with just Game Pass on any and all devices if that’s the way MS is taking this thing. I used to own a Series X as I fell for MS’s promises of righting the ship and delivering quality games, some of them exclusive to keep the platform somewhat distinctive. That’s not what has happened and I just feel for those who stuck with Xbox hoping for those promises to materialise. No ill will intended.
@Sol4ris I’ll admit there have been some bizarre reactions in the so-called social media. As is the case with pretty much anything these days. Still, people have the right to feel strongly about this and express their frustration with MS letting this whole thing simmer for a whole week before they will grace us with their masterplan.
I love how some people here think they have the right to tell others how they should react or what to feel regarding these rumours. I’m not affected as I only subscribe to Game Pass and play via xCloud which, contrary to what some naysayers here are preaching, works very well. That said, it takes a special brand of ignorance to not see how many Xbox customers can feel cheated if these rumours are confirmed. Yes, they do lose a lot because it’s just MS letting their precious exclusives go. Sony isn’t letting anything make the jump to Xbox (no high profile games anyway). Neither is Nintendo. Why would you buy the next Xbox then? I’ll be fine with just Game Pass existing but I feel for Xbox fans. MS made so many rights calls with Game Pass and Series consoles only to throw it all away because some shareholders are unhappy with console and high profile Xbox games sales. It’s not like they are not already rolling in dough smh.
@nomither6 I stopped going to Push Square for that reason alone. I don’t really care about platforms, I don’t root for Sony, MS or Nintendo. I just think the industry needs another strong competitor to Sony. Not just in software, but hardware too. Series X is so much better as a console than the PS5 IMO. Had both. Now I game on handheld PC cause I fell in love with the Switch model, just prefer the SteamOS ecosystem.
Not denying the rumours is basically a confirmation that they are, indeed, true. A sad day for Xbox, but it is what it is. Sony can basically do as they please in the industry from here on out.
@Retron I’m already using it like this on my Steam Deck. I’m dying to hear Phil explain how this is good for Xbox and the Xbox faithful. There’s literally no reason to own an Xbox if this turns out to be true.
I’m playing all sorts of stuff, but mostly Forza 8 via Xcloud and Batman: Arkham City. Both on my Steam Deck. Forza 8 is actually a banger, contrary to what a lot of folks say online.

Dropped Starfield after circa 70 hours. Don't think I'll finish it either. I'm now on my 6th playthrough of CP2077 with the Phantom Liberty dlc. It really adds a lot to an already great game. In 1440p with DLSS set to qualiy this is easily the most beautiful game I've ever played (on PC). Also bought WRC 23 and WRC Generations that I'll be playing before the former unlocks.
