Welcome to the weekend! There's so much to enjoy on Xbox over the next two days, including a free next-gen update for Fallout 4, some great new Xbox Game Pass additions, more Free Play Days titles and a whole bunch of huge sales!
Here's what we're playing this weekend:
Fraser Gilbert, Editor
For me, it's all about TopSpin 2K25 at the moment. I gave the game a "Great" 8/10 in our Pure Xbox review earlier this week, and I still very much stand by that score - the gameplay is amazing and I'm enjoying the career mode!
If I do get more time though, it might be spent with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. I almost finished it ages ago but noped out of there when it started throwing a ridiculous number of freaky spiders at me, but now that Jedi: Survivor is on Xbox Game Pass, it's about time I faced my fears and got to the finish line so I can finally try the sequel.
Have a good weekend, folks!
What will you be playing on Xbox this weekend? Let us know down in the comments below.

Think I'll finally do some No More Heroes 3, realistically I'll just be on the rl grind to reach champ though 😂
Playing
Assassin's Creed: Valhalla (PS5)
Diablo IV (XSX)
Half-Life (Steam Deck)
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Switch)
Paused
Divinity: Original Sin (XSX)
Yakuza: Like A Dragon (PS5)
Backlog
Castlevania
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Divinity: Original Sin II
Half-Life 2
Portal
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
Red Dead Redemption 2
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Playing Stellar Blade with a touch of Xenoblade Chronicles X on the WiiU.
Fallout 4 and I'm surprised it's actually more smooth and stable only had to wait many years for a fix.
However, finding the game boring, dated and hate settlement building. Probably plays too similar to Starfield which I just find the game design dated. Will give it a few more hours.
I already played Jedi Survivor on ps5 but my son started it now when its on GamePass and absolutely loves it, as did I. Very good game imo!
My Xbox and Switch will be collecting dust until Im done with Stellar Blade.
My first impressions so far: combat, music, graphics, design and skilltree are phenomenal. I especially love the bossbattles.
Story and VO is fine. Nothing special.
My only gripe is some of the platforming sequences are annoying but its no dealbreaker.
Im playing completely blind and having a blast. Also love that the game got ng+ where everything carries over. Will be playing Stellar Blade A LOT.
@ShadowofTwilight damn you got good taste! Cheers!
Finally 100%d Assassin's Creed Valhalla (base game). Loved it. I still got the DLC left but I also got Ubi+ for a month to play Mirage, Prince of Persia and maybe Avatar.
Harold Halibut for me. Looking to finish it this weekend. I'm up to Chapter 3. It's not a great game, but something about it has made me stick with it so far.
Happy gaming everyone 👍👍
I’m honestly not sure. I love Dave the Diver as a casual experience, but I feel like I’ve sort of hit a wall in it at the moment. I’m contemplating getting Stellar Blade or jumping on Fallout 4 again. Banishers remains a ghost haunting me from the backlog as well. The 45 minutes I put into it two weeks ago seemed solid.
Red Dead Redemption and getting to grips with Fight Night Round 4 (the controls are a step up compared to FNR3). Both on my ROG Ally. Have a good weekend everyone!
I've started Half Life 2 again. What a amazing game. Have also downloaded Fallout 4 update. But that is for tomorrow.
Emptying my PS Plus Premium backlog, since my sub runs out in two months time and I’m not going to renew it. Massively enjoyed (and finished) Demon’s Souls, currently somewhat enjoying Deliver us Mars.
From July on I’ll finally delve into Game Pass on my Series X. As a Xbox newbee I have lots to discover. Already can’t wait to play games such as Diablo IV, Forza Motorsport (if it’s any good yet), both Hellblades, High on Life, Lies of P etc etc etc…
Jedi survivor for me mostly but I'll definitely play a bit of fallout 4 and dragons dogma dark arisen if I can get the time
Still on with Shadow of the Tomb Raider on Game Pass and still enjoying it a lot. I don’t know why I missed this one when it was released. I also downloaded the X/S upgrade of Fallout 4 so I might have a look at that. I still haven’t got around to Dave the Diver, so I might try that too.
Have a nice weekend. 🙂
Yakuza 3 Remastered.
After playing through Yakuza 0, Kiwami 1 and Kiwami 2 this game is really hard to get in to. I liked doing the side quest in the previous 3 but I'll probably just only do the main story in this because I find the game to look and play rough.
Last night my friends and I finished the Remnant 2 Forgotten Kingdom DLC which was very good. What a wild and crazy game. Some of the coolest boss fights for sure. 9/10
I tried to play Lisa the First since I claimed the other two Lisa games on EGS, but wow that game is not good or fun at all. It's interesting but it's like a kaizo Mario level in design - only masochists would get any sort of enjoyment out of it. 3/10.
The rest of the weekend I'll be chipping away at Dread Templar and Mortal Kombat (9).
Well I finished Mafia remastered this week so I've now started Fallout 4 as I want to get further than my level 10 character in the past haha
On Xbox: Another Crab's Treasure, F.E.A.R. and possibly more Tiny Tina's Wonderlands if possible.
On PS5: started Neptunia ReVerse since I beat the main game in Granblue Fantasy: Relink a couple days ago.
On Switch: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.
Skyward Sword on Switch
Fallout 4 and Diablo 4 on xbox
Finally getting around to trying Pentiment, this game reminds me a LOT of Pillars of the Earth, which is extremely underrated.
I tried Diddy Kong Racing for the first time a few days ago and I would say I am enjoying it so far, though I’m not far into it yet. I’ll probably play a little bit of it this weekend, and I am on the first boss race, but it’s so difficult keeping up with the opponent. The game gets harder later on from what I heard, so I’m not sure if I’ll actually complete it. I’ve heard the final race in the game is terrible though…
Like I said in my previous answer, I’ll also probably play Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage! alongside that. Compared to the game above, I’ve been playing this game for almost two years and I enjoy it, but because it’s a rhythm game it’s sometimes hard to play, and it has some slight issues not related to the core gameplay.
Another Crabs Treasure seems like my first choice and then for a palette cleanser Borderlands 3 with a dash of Harold Halibut. ACT seems quite fun so don’t sleep on it…
Wrapping up Dead Space 2. Will try Jedi FO 2 next week
Currently looking at the Apple TV perk. With "Netflix household" basically obliterating sharing accounts, the Apple tv for 3 months looks appealing.
I wish I watched Rebel Moon part 2 before the Netflix shared account got nuked.
@Darude84
If Motorsport is not to your liking, try Forza Horizon 5. It's arcade like and more casual, but it's been better received so far. I've put tons of hours on it.
Be sure to try the first Plague Tale when you still have PS Plus. IMO it's the better of the two games. It's also an easy platinum if you're into that sort of thing.
Jedi survivor for sure, loving it so far!
Stellar Blade. Damn, it's soooooo good.
Angry Birds Star Wars II (Windows Phone) - Three starring all levels is going much smoother now.
Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes for me. I'm really enjoying it!
Eiyuden Chronicles (Series X) Such a lovely game. I am only 5 hours in but I am enjoying everything about it. From the story to the graphics to the characters itself, definitely a GOTY contender for me.
Fallout New Vegas (Series X) After watching my son play this a bit I decided to do another playthrough of the best Fallout game to date.
That's all the gaming I will be getting in this weekend since I do work.
Well, the plan was for Fallout 4 since I haven't touched it in a couple of years, but now that it's been "upgraded" it crashes to the homepage of my Series X within seconds every time I try to use even a single mod, so looks like that plan is a total bust. In the meantime l guess I'll be spending time messing around with MLB: The Show 24.
Having already started Top spin 2K25, I went to play it today only to find it won’t connect to the 2K servers. Even the SINGLE PLAYER “My player” mode requires an internet connection 😡 not a good start for the game! Looks like it’s back to Dragons Dogma 2, and may check out the next-gen upgrade for Fallout 4.
I'm play SW:JS and enjoying it so far.
AC Valhalla. Only a few hours into conquering the first English county, and loving everything about it. I skip cut scenes on 9/10 games but I’m paying attention to these because I feel genuinely invested. Picked up all the DLCs for £25 too but it’ll be a while before I start any of those.
Currently The Ascent.
@Kooky_Geezer I felt same about base building first time around. I loved 3 and was dissopointed by 4. Picked up dlc on sale other week so will give it another go now update
@cardcrusher29 I’ve held of rebel moons as director cuts coming summer and supposed to have extra hour per film. Apple TV has some great stuff on
58 hours in on assassin creed Valhalla and really hoping this week can finish it off. Star Wars is tempting but dead island 2 is next I think
Nice to see AC Valhalla get some love from a few posters. Yes, it's an Ubi open world checklist game and yes, it's bloated. But if you like that sort of thing it's a phenomenal game with great story arcs.
@brettvsgodzilla
I've been hearing good things about Apple tv. The Napoleon movie, the Scorsese movie, Silo, and Severance have been on my watchlist.
I can see resubscribing to Netflix for one month or two at most during winter 2024. It will let other household members to binge on whatever they want to watch. The account sharing crackdown has been telegraphed for a while. It was a good deal when it lasted.
@Duck_Farmer @SpecialT - if you are playing HL2 (or Portal) from The Orange Box on Series consoles then remember to take advantage of the unofficial mod that allows you to play at 4K60fps. There’s a YouTube video to explain how. I recently completed HL2 on Series X and it looks and plays brilliantly for an older game. Portal not too shabby either!
@cardcrusher29 Apple TV is excellent! What it lacks in quantity it more than makes up for in quality. Aside the ones you mentioned The Morning show, Foundation, Ted Lasso, Slow Horses and Shrinking are all well worth a watch.
@Feffster - bought The Orange Box on Steam so will be playing HL2 and Portal on the Steam Deck.
@Feffster Playing on the original Xbox and it holds up. Have a series S so might check it out.
Alan Wake II. I'm at the final chapter and it's a damn good game. But I didn't connect with it as much as I did with Control.
@cardcrusher29 Thanks! I played them both, but actually they both weren’t really for me. I’m more of a sim racer than an arcade racer. With A Plague Tale the controls felt a bit too clunky for me.
Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 for me.
Well another jam packed week for another WAYP. Did snag some pretty great games this week like Eiyuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes, Saga Emerald Beyond, the Fallout 4 PS5 update, and Stellar Blade. It’s that last one that I thoroughly enjoyed last night it’s absolutely beautiful and loads of fun. Also beat Mario Vs Donkey Kong this week coincidentally the same day I got the Super Mario series Amiibos of Mario and Donkey Kong. Also snagged the Shovel Knight 3 Pack which means I have all the Shovel Knight Amiibos that aren’t gold Shovel Knight. I really don’t count the gold amiibos for anything because they’re just a pain. Think I’m in the last 3rd of AI: the Somnium Files after this weekend and I’ll admit I’m pretty happy about that. As for the rest of the weekend after work I’m thinking some Trails Into Reverie and either WWE 2K24, Persona 3 Reload or Hundred Heroes. Genuinely unsure which hahahaha. As for the rest of the week well it’ll be a rotation of the ga es already listed plus some things like Penny’s Big Breakaway on switch and Pepper Grinder and Princess Peach Showtime or the FFXVI DLC and Dragons Dogma 2 and Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth on PS5. Very excited to dabble in SaGa the most. As for anime I only have two shoutouts today. One of my favorites of Winter I finished and the one I’m most excited for in Spring. Those would be Undead Unluck and The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio. Oh and of course it goes without saying the GOAT Urusei Yatsura. Still pretty focused on knocking out those shows based on games still and hey I made good progress in finishing both Twisted Metal and Fallout. Fallout especially was absolutely beautiful and amazing. The Ghoul was my absolutely favorite part. Well worth a watch. And for Twisted Metal well Sweet Tooth absolutely made that show and I absolutely loved him. Now tho I get to focus on the thing I’ve been most excited for and that’s KNUCKLES. Can’t wait to share my thoughts on the proud Echidna warrior. Also super excited about EVO Japan this weekend too. As for podcasts this week I gotta choose my usuals plus my faves that I finally decided to support via Patreon. Those of course being Castle Superbeast, Big Think Dimension, Into The Aether, RPGsites Tetracast, Minnmax, Jeff Gerstmann, Nextlander, Easy Allies, Kit and Krysta, Windbreaker and Firelink, and as a whole the Last Stand Media family. And of course we wouldn’t be complete without a lovely shoutout to my good friend over at twitch.tv/akibread and their excellent amazing streams. As always take care of each other. Stay safe. Have a excellent rest of your weekend. And Happy Gaming.
@GeeEssEff
Thanks. I've read praise for the Foundation for quite a while. I'm also cautiously curious about the live action Godzilla/Monarch show. The English language Godzilla movies are a a mixed bag for sure.
Jedi survivor. Game is great so far!
Finished Remnant 2 (OK), Evil West (OK), Escape Academy (Good), Botany Manor (Good), Return to Grace (Didn't Like) recently. Really want to jump into Another Crab's Treasure but chores keep coming up.
Got back into Wasteland 3 this week. Put in a good amount of hours, making solid progress for the first time since 2020. Then two of my crew became stuck in place.
Also playing LAD: IW, Harold Halibut, Forza 5, and Tekken 8 this weekend.
Lots and Lots of Jedi Surivor, really enjoying that... and a gross amount of Balatro on Switch... damn that game is so addictive.
