It's time for the weekend! As usual, there's lots to enjoy on Xbox over the next few days including a bunch of new Xbox Game Pass titles, three more Free Play Days additions, and lots of great offers in the ongoing Xbox Spring Sale 2024.
Here's what we're playing this weekend:

Is anyone else in a massive wrestling mood at the moment? WrestleMania was absolutely incredible last weekend (and I'm a huge AEW fan as well), so unsurprisingly I've been playing a lot of WWE 2K24 lately. It's the best entry in the series to date and absolutely packed with things to do, so I'm sure I'll be playing plenty more of that.
I think it's time for me to check out Shadow of the Tomb Raider on Xbox Game Pass as well. I enjoyed the 2013 reboot back at launch, but 2015's sequel actually put me off a bit - I felt it was too heavily focused on near-endless shootouts. I've heard the third game in the trilogy alters the balance a bit, so I'm ready to finally conclude this saga.
Have a good weekend, folks!

Raise your hand if you’ve started watching the Fallout series on Amazon Prime! Last night I watched the first two episodes - and really enjoyed them - but it did give me a major case of the cravings to play Fallout 4 again. Saying that, a part of me wants to wait for the next-gen update it’s gonna get at the end of this month. Toughie… what do you think? Wait or play?
Besides the wasteland talk, I’m going to get stuck into Unicorn Overlord again. I genuinely can’t get enough of it. It’s too good folks, too good. That said, I do fancy checking out Botany Manor now it’s on Game Pass. It was already on my radar but since Nintendo Life gave it a good review score it’s certainly piqued my interest.
So that’s about it for Xbox gaming, I do fancy playing a bunch of Mario Tennis on my Game Boy Colour so I’ll probably play a match or two on that. Anyhoo, happy gaming folks!
What will you be playing on Xbox this weekend? Let us know down in the comments below.

Playing Tiny Tina’s Wonderland. Been in my backlog for way too long and loving it. Funny , great fun. Madcap.
Since last week
The Expanse - finished the game. It started pretty good but the last third of the game before the end wasnt quite as good as the story slowed down and the environments werent as fun. Overall though I enjoyed it!
Robocop - Im really enjoying this game. Its good, old school fun AA gaming at its best with pretty funny dialog and characters.
Synapse PSVR 2 - The game is really good and super fun and VR makes all the difference as Im not usually in to roguelikes but the gameplay and mechanics are great!
10 hours into Persona 3 Reload so I'll get a few more in over the weekend. Enjoying it so far and it's a slow start but glad it's teaching me the ropes. Enjoy games everyone and have a great weekend
PS5: This week I platted Helldivers 2 and Street Fighter 6. So theres obviously only one thing to do. Play Helldivers 2 and Street Fighter 6. That is until Stellar Blade comes out.
Switch: Supermario Wonder (backlog work)
XSX: Nothing
Sidenote. SF6 might be the best modern fighting game Ive ever played. Its just so smooth. And Ive been having a lot of fun playing Helldivers with friends and strangers. Even had some randoms willing to help me with some coop trophies.
Picked up RoboCop today, so I'm looking forward to starting it. Probably about of Double Dragon Gaiden as well
On Xbox: continuing Disco Elysium
On PS5: finally starting Granblue Fantasy Relink
On Switch: starting Trails of Cold Steel IV for real
I'll try finish off until dawn this weekend and as usual a bit of Elden ring and eafc looking forward to the Harold halibut next week looks great
I'm on a fishing trip in a remote area and only have my switch with me. I'm hoping to finish off the excellent Astral Chain.
Hopefully I can take a handheld xbox in a couple years that will have a fully capable offline mode.
I've been playing Tomb Raider. Gamepass cloud gaming on a Odin 2, and it is a brilliant.
Also Gotham Racing 2 on Original Xbox.
And a bit of Cyberpunk
I finished and got all the (Steam) achievements in Sonic Origins and Persona 5 Royal earlier in the week. Last night I started Shantae and the Seven Sirens. It's a decent enough Metroidvania; it's very tight and looks really nice, and I'm having fun with it 👍
Addicted to Assassin's Creed Valhalla right now. So good.
Campaign on COD Black Ops for first time (2 missions in and I see why its rated so highly)... then binging on Fallout TV series before I begin my first play through of Fallout 3.
Kingdoms & Lords (Windows Phone) - Still getting my footing in this one.
Earthworm Jim HD (Windows Phone) - Buttville is seriously kicking my rear end...
Angry Birds Star Wars II (Windows Phone) - Always a special place in hell for three starring every single level in this game
Got my last achievement in Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising last night before Hundred Heroes releases on 4/23. Not sure what I'll play this weekend. Probably more PGA Tour, but looking forward to Harold Halibut next week also.
On my Series X I’m hopping between Dragons Dogma 2 and Forza Motorsport. I’m still enjoying DD2 (have just unlocked mystic spearhand vocation) though some people have told me of some rather annoying game mechanics which may put me off the game. One such mechanic is “dragons plague” - none of my pawns have had it yet, though from what I’ve heard I do wonder if the devs actually want us to enjoy their game!
I’m still working through Rebirth and am obsessed with Unicorn Overlord on Switch right now. Also a bit of Helldivers 2 to get my friend off my back who keeps harassing me to play with him because I’ve been too into Rebirth.
Lies of P. Some bosses are genuinely very challenging (no specter, no throwables). The perfect party timing is unforgiving but satisfying to learn. I’m curious how many people cheesed some of these with specter/throwables.
@Lup love valhalla and hope you enjoy the rest. I upgraded to the complete edition and will go back to all the dlc down the line.
Paused DD2 to continue with AC Black Flag. Really getting the itch for Origins and Valhalla.
I did another chapter of As Dusk Falls, but decided to leave the finale for tomorrow. Thought I’d give Botany Manor a try on Game Pass and am enjoying it, very relaxing to play.
On a non-Xbox console, I’ve been playing Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage! on my phone like I always do. The game can be difficult to play, but I still like playing small sessions and I absolutely love the music, so I’ll 100% be playing it over the weekend.
I might use my Xbox, but I’m unsure about what I’ll play on there, though I think I’ll probably play Rare Replay. There’s still a bunch of games on there I haven’t even started or completed since I only use it to play Conker’s Bad Fur Day lol
@Blaa
I waited to start until I could get my hands on all the DLCs and stuff. So much stuff to do. Game really gets a lot of undeserved hate.
Am head deep in Cyberpunk 2077 which I picked up during the ongoing sale. What a marvel. Probably the most visually pleasing game I've played. The story, the mechanics, the missions, the dialogues, everything is a masterpiece.
Yes, I'm watching Fallout and I'm also a few episodes in. Makes me want to try the series for the first time.
Also loved wrestlemania last weekend and loved the new direction wwe is headed in. It does make me want to buy wwe2k 24 which is a on a sale atm.
But as for gaming this weekend, I just finished my 5th or 6th playthrough of Cadence of Hyrule last night, so to continue on my zelda push, I started up Skyward Sword again.
On xbox I'm playing Banjo and Diablo 4.
I'm still playing Dread Templar, but it's getting frustratingly difficult and less and less fun as it goes on. Also playing Daymare 1998 which is very much discount RE2R in just about every way possible. Maybe I should give up on them and move on to something I'm more likely to thoroughly enjoy. Thinking about starting Thief 2X: Shadows of the Metal Age instead..
Edit: Being 49 cents on Steam, I decided to try out Dr Livesey Rom and Death Edition 😂 Absolutely unhinged.
All Dragons Dogma 2, I think I'm getting near the end. Cant get enough of this game, just like the first.
I’d like to start playing Banishers, but I don’t know. It depends on the wife with that one. Same with the Fallout TV show. Definitely playing the Umbraclaw demo though!
I’m feeling a little burnt out of Dragon’s Dogma 2 because… now this might sound silly… the menus have such tiny text that I sort of strain to read things in the game. I’d put in quite a few hours now and now that I’m focusing on quests instead of exploration, the game is sort of wearing on me a bit. The story is sort of boring. I still might play it though because, well, it’s fun to fight the monsters.
I’m on my 7th playthrough of Cyberpunk 2077, first time as a female V and a corpo rat. I can safely say this game is my all time no 1 in my 30 years of gaming (somehow trumped Mass Effect and RDR2). Also replaying Horizon Zero Dawn before I dive into Forbidden West. Some Forza Horizon 5 via xCloud which works miles better on my ROG Ally than it did on my previously owned Steam Deck. Happy gaming all!
Finished up Maneater on PS4 this morning. Moving on to Yakuza Kiwami 2 on my Steam Deck.
Fallout 76 (Series X) Haven't played this game since launch I decided to check it out again after finishing the TV series.
World of Warcraft Retail (PC) Going around collecting mounts and achievements.
Try and give Soma a go before it leaves Gamepass … otherwise Borderlands 3 is calling and maybe Botany Manor.. have a amazing weekend everyone!
Will definitely be starting the new Fallout series and catching up on Call The Midwife as well. In between this already crowded schedule, me and my Series X will be exploring Botany Manor because, as I used to work as a horticulturist and also followed the Grateful Dead back when I was younger, anything plant related remains something of an interest to me... Peace & Love & Run, Run, Run For The Roses, Always!
Being relatively new to Xbox, I'm playing some older games. I just completed Ryse Son of Rome and I actually enjoyed it a lot. I'm just shocked this got consistent low 60s back in the day. It's not a perfect game, but I think there is a lot to enjoy.
Might start something quieter now, I'm leaving on holiday and might play a bit on the phone with cloud gaming, so perhaps coffee talk 2. I enjoyed the first one.
If anyone has any older Xbox suggestions, I'm all ears. Enjoy the weekend people!
@Stamnoso Not exclusive to Xbox, but my go to recommendation is always Dishonored. If you're looking for Xbox exclusives only, I'd say Quantum Break.
I'm in the middle of my first playthrough of Control. Not having played Control yet is why I haven't played Alan Wake 2 yet and I really want to get to AW2 (even though I'm not sure they're even directly connected)
I just started Eiyuden Chronicles: Rising yesterday, so mostly that probably. I should be able to finish it before Hundred Heroes comes out in a couple weeks. I've also been playing Kingdom Two Crowns on Steam, so I might do a little of that too.
@Stamnoso Ryse is an underrated gem. It's not the best game ever made - not by a long shot - but, like you, I didn't play it until a good few years after it released and was surprised by how tepid a reception it got.
Picked up Fallout 4 dlc so that’s joined backlog list. Started halo infinite and enjoying but a lot of waiting to get in some game modes. Working on multiplayer achievements. Also still chipping away at AC Valhalla while watching vikings on prime for the first time so enjoying that. Enjoy weekend all
Currently Playing
Yakuza: Like a Dragon (PS5)
Diablo IV (XSX)
Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Switch)
Half-Life (Steam Deck)
Paused
Assassin's Creed: Valhalla (PS5)
Divinity: Original Sin (XSX)
MLB 24 via Game Pass (thankfully not a glitchy as last year)
State of Decay 2 somewhat frivolously padding my zombie kill count
Playing Elden Ring for the 5th time trying to get every item out there. Also Diablo IV. Never played Diablo before. Man am I hooked. Also sprinkling in some Pandor. What a beautiful game. Probably the best looking of this generation.
RE3 remake. Only my second RE game since I just finished 2 last month. THANK YOU GAME PASS.
Evil West. Game is super fun!
Assassin's Creed III.
It's better than I thought it would be. Only wish it had more naval battles...
@sd7232 yes, less glitches, but I got all the achievements in less than a week and it took all the wind out of it's sails. For me, at least.
Working this weekend so just Evil West for gamepass rewards points and I watch some Fallout episodes.
@everynowandben Thanks, Quantum break I played last month, it was interesting stuff with the TV show and everything. Dishonored I played back in the day, but never tried the second one. Thanks, I had kinda forgotten about this IP.
@Stamnoso Remedy's games are so innovative and interesting. I'm really looking forward to the Max Payne remakes.
Dishonored 2 is outstanding, some of the best level design ever imo, though I would recommend playing the story DLC for the first one if you haven't yet before getting to 2. It's included in the Game Pass version, and provides a little more context for the sequel.
Having a hard time getting into a game lately. I keep starting one and getting bored after a couple hours. I'll probably check out something light like botany manor today until this slump passes
Alrighty here we go with another WAYP. Pretty decent week this week as I got to beat Hi-Fi Rush, try out Eddy Gordo and dabble in Helldivers 2 and Penny’s Big Breakaway. All absolutely excellent tho I would say my favorite of that was Hi-FI Rush. The final boss fight with Kale is just a work of art. Also picked up a copy of Pepper Grinder and preordered Saga Emerald Beyond. Also secured the money in the bank for the FFXVI DLC coming out this week The Rising Tide. And I would say the most important and interesting part of this week if you couldn’t tell by my little reference there is I would now say I’ve gotten into professional wrestling. Yep I saw Wrestlemania last weekend and it just clicked for me finally and I just love it. Like most things with “sides” I would say like marvel or dc I’ve firmly decided on WWE over AEW. As for games this weekend aside from hifi rush and penny like I said I’m thinking of finishing off the weekend with some Trails Into Reverie and Persona 3 Reload. Other than that I got some real early shifts this week so I’m thinking of looking on the bright side with that one and using it to work on some more Unicorn Overlord. Other then that the switch plans are simple: Princess Peach Showtime, Another Code, AI The Somnium Files and the games I’ve listed before. And on the PS5 I’m thinking of dabbling in some FFXVI before the DLC as well as other games like Dragons Dogma 2 and FFVII Rebirth as well as the other games I’ve listed before too. Anime of the week have to go to such excellent shows like Mashle, Solo Leveling, High Card, Shangri-La Frontier, Delicious in Dungeon and Witch and the Beast. Tho I won’t lie my main focus I feel this month in terms of shows is gonna be on Game Adaptations. I wanna watch Twisted Metal and Fallout before the Knuckles show comes out and I think they all will make a excellent trio of shows. As for podcasts of the week you know it’s the usual beauties like Castle Superbeast and Big Think Dimension, Into The Aether, RPGsites Tetracast, WIndbreaker and Firelink, Nextlander, Minnmax, Remap Radio and this week special newcomer Easy Allies podcast. All seriously awesome and excellent listens. Of course we gotta give a special amd lovely shoutout to my good friend over at twitch.tv/akibread and their absolutely excellent streams. As always be good to each other. Stay safe and have a great rest of the weekend. And Happy Gaming.
The list grows week by week tbh. But cutting to my current mains - stanley parable, Baldurs gate 3 (now getting 70fps on max setting rog ally. Thank you amd afmf). S of T raider def ed, Dredge, Diablo iv, Unocorn Overlord & (yeah they got me) Fallout 3.
@Ryne-Gaia I never give up trying to love AEW, but everything WWE is better. Wrsstlers, production, writing etc etc.
Shame because they (wwe) do better with competition. Attitude era was 🔥🔥🔥 because wcw had them beat for a while.
@InvaderFromSpace How are you finding Kingdom & Eiyuden? Im interested in those two as well.
@Retrokingdan Robocop: Jank city. Not a bad game though overall.
@Gonzo_Me Call the Midwife? Thats hardcore. 💪
Im playing, "Let's monitor router traffic to figure out how to block Microsoft ad servers on my Xbox."
@everynowandben sounds brilliant, yeah didn't play the dlc so will definitely have a go at that before the second one Remedy games, I've only tried Quantum Break, so I guess there's a few more there to give a go. Thanks
