Welcome to another weekend! There's plenty to enjoy on Xbox over the next couple of days including loads of new Xbox Game Pass titles, a fresh batch of Free Play Days additions, and hundreds of discounts in the Xbox Spring Sale!
Here's what we're playing this weekend:
Fraser Gilbert, Editor
As usual, I can't keep up with all the recent additions to Xbox Game Pass! Ark: Survival Ascended is definitely now part of my backlog, as is EA Sports PGA Tour, but I think Lego 2K Drive is going to get most of my time this weekend. I'm a sucker for a good racing game, and what I've played of it so far has been pretty enjoyable.
In terms of games I actually own in my collection, it's probably going to be Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown that commands my attention. I'm really not fussed about the story in that game (which is a shame), but fortunately the excellent platforming and combat makes up for it. It's the most fun I've had with a PoP game to date actually.
Have a good weekend, folks!

Recently I’ve been on a bit of a puzzler streak, playing games like The Entropy Centre, Portal 2 and the like. I even bought a £6 (at the time) indie game called Re:Touring that has a similar vibe, y’know the one vibe I’m talking about, right? Going into a room with cubes, buttons and beams, using your brain ripples to solve the problem, then progressing through the next increasingly challenging room? Yeah, basically that again. I really like these games and think they’re super satisfying once you figure ‘em out.
Also, I’d love to dip back into Unicorn Overlord because, well, I am obsessed. The only reason I’ve paused on it is because I’m actually reviewing my first game for Pure Xbox (how exciting) and there simply aren't enough hours in the day.
Before I wrap up, I’ve been on a bit of a tear with Battlefield V too. Did you know it’s six years old now? Six whole years! It’s still a phenomenal game so I’m sure I’ll be pouring an hour or two into it this weekend too.
Hope you have a lovely weekend and happy gaming, folks.

Switch and XSX: Nothing.
PS5: I'm close to platting Helldivers 2 and Street Fighter 6 so that's my goal before Stellar Blade comes out.
Have a wonderful weekend everybody.
Enjoying EA PGA Tour Golf, a bit of Toy Soldiers HD & a smattering of Forza Motorsport for good measure. Have a good one all.
On Series X I decided to take a weekend off from Dragon’s Dogma 2 which I’ve been playing a lot. I was going to say I’m playing Open Roads instead but I have in fact played it! 2.5 hours to complete the story and get all the achievements. I thought it was better than the mixed reviews it has received and became engrossed in the story as it unfolded.
Anyway, having done that, I’ve made a start on As Dusk Falls. I bounced off it when it was released because I didn’t care for the art style, but once you get going you stop noticing it. I’m finding it pretty gripping, especially when I saw the ‘Detroit’-style flowcharts at the end of chapters that showed how different things could have been.
PGA Golf and some Diablo 4 on Series S.
Need for Speed on the 3do (thought I'd hook it up again)
Ikaruga on the Switch. Managed to get a copy a few weeks ago.
Happy gaming.
@Old_Man_Harper As Dusk Falls is brilliant. I loved the art style personally. The story is what makes it special though.
Yakuza: Like A Dragon (PS5) - swapping between this and Assassin's Creed: Valhalla.
Diablo IV (XSX) - have never played a Diablo game before and am really enjoying it, although the need to connect to an online server is a bit annoying when I only want to play the single player campaign with no live service elements.
Half-Life (Steam Deck) - about a third of the way through the campaign.
Looking for the next game to play on the Switch after finishing Xenoblade Chronicles 3. I have Zelda: Breath of the Wild queued up and ready to go, but thinking of switching to Katamari Damacy Reroll.
Assassin's Creed: Valhalla. Loving every second.
Battlefield V still have a lovely community? In need of an online shooter with most going to pot recently
I've got a big stack of games to play but for the moment I'm concentrating on Back 4 Blood (hoping to box it off before it leaves gamepass) and I'll dipping into PGA as well. I've been waiting for it to hit gamepass since it released so I'm looking forward to getting started with it and I hope I can get plenty of life out of it.
Happy gaming everyone 👍👍
Halo Infinite for me. Completed The Yappening 2 event pass and I just got Diamond Captain I.
Gruntpocolypse is great fun.
Dragon’s Dogma 2
Trying to finish FF rebirth.
Picked up Robocop in a sale, so I may play a little of that too.
Whatever your playing, have fun!
Xbox- diablo 4,mlb the show
Pc- saints row 2, halo infinite
Switch-astral chain
Playstation- ratchet & Clank 2: going commando (ps2)
@Weapon_Wheel I fired up classic Doom during the week for the first time in years. It's still great fun!
PGA Golf for now. May try Harold Halibut as well when it comes out, but all placeholders for now. I have been waiting a long long time for Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes! April 23rd can't get here soon enough!
I got my Asus ROG Ally yesterday so of course I’m playing… Quake 2 on Game Pass hahahha. Don’t know how that happened. Enjoy your weekend folks!
I beat Pepper Grinder last night, so I'm going to be focusing on Banjo Kazooie and Diablo 4. Maybe ill pick Color Splash up again.
Solo: Still working my way through Dogma 2, I finished Control Ultimate and Wake 2 is on sales, so maybe that.
Co-op: Probably some Ark.
VR: hopefully finish Asura's Wrath II. Its just not gripping me as I hoped.
@Jedge396 it's as lovely as any FPS shooter community can be I suppose. Not as awful as they come but not horrific 😅
@gollumb82 yes! Welcome to the ROG Ally life! I love mine, spend most of my time remote playing my Xbox on it but PC Game Pass is mega to have too 😊
This weekend is all about getting through the final stretch of Monster Hunter Stories 2(has been an amazing journey so far, easily one of the best monster-raising games out there) and maybe some more Disco Elysium on the side.
FF 7 Rebirth - I’ve finished the game. Simply awesome! Dont know what to add to all the positive things already said but its high on my list of favorite games 🤩
Brothers A tale of two sons - a favorite game of mine, had to take the opportunity to play it again. Still very good, and still very emotional 🥲
The Expanse - About half way and enjoying it a lot more than I had hoped. Looking forward to continuing the story over the weekend!
I also got Robocop lined up, picked it up in the sale, I think Im going to enjoy this game a lot.
Happy gaming y’all!
@HelloCraig
Thanks! I had a Steam Deck OLED and while I liked many things about it I decided to upgrade to a ROG Ally because games like Horizon Forbidden West are basically barely playable/unplayable on it already. I’m still getting to grips with my Ally but I already like it a lot! A handheld PC is basically the only way I can game these days and it’s reignited my somewhat dying love for games.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 perhaps. I want to start Banishers. Will be going to the Midwest Gaming Expo, so we’ll see l if I pick something up there too.
@HelloCraig whoops I meant lively lol
Close to the Sun and expedition a mudrunner game.
EA golf - the swing mechanics are bonkers - time to watch a few videos to see what I am doing wrong. Played 9 holes and keep over hitting or can’t even hit the ball. Finally earned enough rewards to buy BG3 - New Year’s resolution tick… Brotato as a palette cleanser
World of Warcraft (PC) Got my Blood Elf Frost Mage to level 60 finally so I am going to be checking out Dragonflight this weekend.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon (Series X) Going back to this one again after a few weeks of not playing it. Still enjoying this game.
Nearing the end of Amnesia: Rebirth. I don't love it, but I actually like it more than both The Dark Descent and Soma. That being said, it's not even close to as good as the direction they took for The Bunker, which is by far Frictional's greatest accomplishment in my opinion.
I gave Open Roads a spin the other day, and this weekend seems a good enough time as any to find out where those roads will take me. I have hopes for a nice Grateful Dead show at the end, as that's where the open roads used to take me back in the day, but I suppose the destination isn't as important as the journey to get there... Peace & Love & Truckin' Like The Do-Dah Man, Always!
Still digging DD2 but decided earlier to dip back into AC Black Flag. Love the vibe of parkouring around Havana.
I'm playing some Steamworld Quest Hand of Gilgamesh on Switch. Works really well on the portable.
On Series X I am enjoying Lego 2K Drive - wonderful game let down by a free to play feeling revolving around the constant encouragement to buy stuff with real money. I love the fact that seasons do not expire but at €10 each I am still not dipping in.
I am also playing Smite regularly in preparation for Smite 2. I am no pro at it but I really enjoy Arena Mode.
@SpecialT Having now played it for some time, I’ve also come to like the visual style of it. At first I thought it would be limiting, but it isn’t.
Alrighty here we go with another edition of WAYP. Pretty simple this week. Big things of the past week would have to be seeing everything John Wick related, the movie Monkey Man and beating both Prince Of Persia The Lost Crown and Rain Code. All of it was simply amazing really. All simply superb. As for the rest of the weekend I’m thinking of just keeping it simple and doing Trails Into Reverie on switch with some of the womens basketball finals on and either Eiyuden Chronicle Rising or Hi-Fi Rush on PS5. Did the Stellar Blade demo and I locked that preorder in it’s absolutely amazing. As for the rest of the week I think I’ll keep it simple. Talking the Saga Emerald Beyond Demo on switch and Princess Peach Showtime and Another Code and Unicorn Overlord and I’m thinking AI: The Somnium Files will take the place of Rain Code now as there’s rumors they’re about to announce a third one. If they do I really wanna have both of the other games done before then. And hopefully finally start Penny’s Big Breakaway too. Over on PS5 if I can actually start Eiyuden Chronicle Rising that’s definitely the main focus of the week with a little Hi-Fi Rush, Persona 3 Reload, FFVII Rebirth, Tekken 8 to try Eddy Gordo out, Dragons Dogma 2 and hopefully finally start Helldivers 2 as well. As for anime of the week we’re finally really back at it with some absolutely excellent stars like Mashle, Delicious In Dungeon, Solo Leveling, Shangri La Frontier, and The Witch and The Beast. Podcasts of the week are of course Castle Superbeast, Big Think Dimension, RPGsites Tetracast, Into the Aether, Remap Radio, Minnmax, Nextlander, Summon Sign, Windbreaker and Firelink. Tho being quite honest I think I’m gonna start cracking into my GOTY podcasr backlog so I’ll be getting oddly nostalgic for all the amazing games of last year. And of course y’all we wouldn’t ne some without a shoutout to my amazing friend at twitch.tv/akibread with their excellent streams. Enjoy the eclipse tomorrow if any of y’all are near it. As always be good to each other. Stay safe. And have a awesome rest of the weekend and Happy Gaming.
Lego Drive is quite literally the easiest single player racing game I've ever played, effortlessly first in every race, never seem to get hit by any of the weapons like you would in Mario Kart, and the difficulty between licenses doesn't seem to change much at all either.
Obviously it's a game primarily for kids, but so is Mario kart and at least that game provides some level of challenge to it, and a noticable difference in difficulty as you progress. It's a reasonably fun game for what it is, but it feels more like a leisurely driving game than a racing title due to that significant lack of difficulty. You'll find yourself relaxed, just driving around with very few reminders that it's supposed to be competitive or there's supposed to be a challenge involved. It's very much a game of just press accelerate and enjoy.
My nephew is a die hard fan of lego, but even he has very little to no interest in the game. I imagine that's because even he would find it difficult to enjoy a game that more or less just plays itself for you.
