Another weekend begins after a crazy few days in the world of Xbox! If you're stuck for things to do, don't forget we've got a few new Xbox Game Pass titles, multiple Free Play Days offerings and plenty of great sales on the Xbox Store.
Here's what we're playing this weekend:
Fraser Gilbert, Editor
I think my first task this weekend is to check out the Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden free trial on the Xbox Store. I've had my eye on this game ever since our Pure Xbox review landed earlier in 2024, and everyone says the story is really good, so it's about time I gave it a try for myself. After all, you can't go wrong with free!
I'm also very slowly getting back into Baldur's Gate 3 now that I've activated the cross-save feature that will hopefully avoid any saving issues on Xbox. The problem is, I've forgotten everything I did back in December now...
Have a good weekend, folks.

This weekend I need a big old relax, so aside from wheeling out the BBQ for the first time this year, I'll probably jump into some comfort gaming to be quite honest. Maybe a bit of Dead Island 2 for those summer vibes would be a nice one - I still need to check out the game's latest DLC expansion!
Over on PlayStation I'll probably be playing some of my PS5 comfort game in the form of Gran Turismo 7, and if I fancy anything else over the weekend I might go back even further and boot up some old OG Xbox / Xbox 360 games. The world is my oyster with backwards compatibility!
Have a splendid weekend, all.

I'm finally playing through Deliver Us Mars which I recommend for anyone who enjoyed Deliver Us The Moon. Baldurs Gate 3 will be continued when I'm ready for a longer play session as will Asgards Wrath 2. Happy weekend y'all!
I’m playing Stellar Blade this weekend. My goal is to wrap up my first play-through and start NG+ to obtain the platinum trophy. This game continues to impress, and gets better the more you progress rather than become stagnant like a lot of action games. I’m currently in the fourth region and the meaningful side quests and exploration has transcended my thoughts on this game in a positive light.
I also picked up Crow Country due to all the high praise it’s receiving. I’ve jump (scared) my way into this game last night and it’s fantastic, particularly playing it on my PlayStation Portal. It has that classic Resident Evil feel, with a touch of Twin Peaks, X-Files, and strangely, a low-polygon Final Fantasy 7. Every year there is a game that comes along that is relatively obscure but ends up making a splash, and this game falls into that category.
Finished diablo 4 and might start Harold Halibut. Otherwise some mlb the show and halo infinite.
Also still have the retro bug as I keep buying emulation handhelds. Playing Ratchet&Clank Going Commmando, pokemon gold, and burnout 3.
Hello there fellow gamers.
As of now I´m just currently enjoying my time with Assassins Creed Valhalla on my Series X and Lies of P on my PC.
Have already finished the main game of AC and now doing the dlc expasions.
And Lies of P is becoming better and better the more I play it.
So yeah, those are the two games I´ll be enjoying.
After those, I might jump to some of my new PS5 game purchases, wich are quite a few.
Cheers everyone and happy gaming weekend to us all
Can I finally finish FF remake? Im going to try 🤣
After the sad news of last week Im tempted to play more ghostwire tokoyo or hifi rush in some useless gesture of solidarity. Rip.
Whatever you are playing, have fun!
My Currently playing.
PlayStation 5: Stellar Blade, enjoying my time with it not sure if i am gonna platinum it or not.
XBox Series X: Assassin's Creed 2 via Xbox 360 Backwards compatibility. Working on it being my 100K gamerscore hit.
Nintendo Switch: Nothing
I only just finished Harold Halibut which overall was excellent, this type of game comes along very rarely and it's a shame most players bailed on it only a couple hours in .. they're loss
Also ran through Firewatch again for those summer vibes, still manages to be an amazing game
Currently I'm progressing through Stellar Blade and loving every minute
Also played through the excellent start of Wolfenstein The New Order, what a game!
I've been playing Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes. Really good game. Plays almost identical to the Suikoden games. No surprise there.
I'm playing Star Wars Jedi Survivor and having a good time with it
Madden 24 and Call of duty modern warfare 3
Not Halo.
Playing Vampire Survivors with my wife in coop mode. She’s 100% everything in solo we play on my profile to do everything mostly in coop.
Other than that I’m thinking of giving Vagante a go.
Still RDR1 and Gran Turismo 6. Got Baldur’s Gate 3 waiting but I will prolly play it over the summer holidays to give it the attention it deserves. Let my Game Pass sub lapse in a gesture of protest at Microsoft’s recent string of poor decisions.
Fallout 3, I'm a bit behind!!
I’m playing DC Justice League: Cosmic Chaos, and I’m loving it.
Trying to like Assassin's Creed Mirage, but after the few last AC this one is such a letdown so far.
I've also been playing a little of Ring of Pain and Elevator Action and both are really fun games.
REDFALL amd im ******* proud of it!
I'm playing Norco before it leaves Gamepass. I'm currently on Act 2. Love the pixel art and the story is interesting. I'll also be playing some FF14. I still haven't tried Eastern Exorcist yet for the games leaving gamepass so if I finish Norco that will be this weekend otherwise next week.
Update: I just finished Norco. This game really gripped me, the story was so strange and outlandish but also at times grounded in reality. The pixel art was simply amazing to me. I'm so glad I chose tackle this before it left Gamepass. There is still time to play and finish this before the 16th if you like narrative point and click games and pixel art. It's like a 5 hourish game according to how long to beat.
Last night the boys and I fired up the Dimension of the Machine expansion for Quake and played through a few of the levels. It was a blast! I didn't know until just the other day that you can play the game co-op like that.
I'm also playing Thief 2X: Shadows of the Metal Age which is a fan made expansion for Thief 2. I'm maybe 1/3 of the way through it, and am really enjoying it so far.
I also played through Indika the other day, and wow. Easily one of the best walking sims I've ever played. It is surreal and insane. Really dives in and deals with some existential s*** in a funny, but also deeply meaningful way. I'm laughing one minute then crying the next. Cuts to the bone. And the way the story is told is just genius. It's almost a movie, but it knows it's a video game, and uses the format to subvert expectations in some pretty clever ways. Absolutely a work of art.
Ghostwire Tokyo (PS5 disc)
Battlefield 3 (XB)
Getting close to finishing Dave the Diver now and I’ve tapped the surface of Crow Country and Animal Well, so I’ll be playing the three of these games for sure in some capacity today after work and after I mow the grass and not on Mother’s Day. And you never know… Banishers might finally get played some. We shall see!
Finished Jedi Survivor (somehow more scripted but also more open than FO, with solidly challenging bosses on Jedi Master) and Tomb Raider (the epitome of a linear cinematic 2010s game, short and focused).
Playing Diablo 4 couch coop with my partner (story has gravitas and character, environmental art is impressive, gameplay is the same as 3).
Playing Dead Island 2 next probably.
Vampire Survivors Operations Guns, the new DLC that just released. I love it so much, it’s Contra themed and it’s brilliant.
Destiny 2 Lightfall - As I used to play Destiny 1 & 2 a lot (scary to think of how many hours its been over the years) I want to see the end of the Light and the Darkness story so its great that Lightfall is now on PS Plus as I dont want to give Bungie more money or start playing D2 again outside of the campaign. I´m some missions in and its ok but not anything special. I guess it builds nicely towards The Final Shape though. However, being a lapsed player, ***** me its hard to get going. ***** is thrown at you from all sides like go here, play this, do this and it mixes old and new story parts so its really confusing. Cant imagine being a totally new player to Destiny, with all the cut content on top that makes it even harder to follow the story in the right timeline. Anyhow, once Im done with Lightfall I might wait for The Final Shape to be on plus before jumping in or I might get it at release to sort of be done with it 😊
i dont know, i buy games just to look at them in my library, maybe play the tutorial and then hop off. i blame live service for doing this to me.
This sure was an exhausting week for Xbox fans wasn't it? Still worried where it's all going and hoping for some much needed clarity and reassurance in upcoming weeks. In the meantime, I'll be playing Little Kitty, Big City this weekend on my Series X.
@Gonzo_Me I agree - I will also go for more cozy games just to relax and recharge. So some Harold Halibut and LKBC and if I get the need then Brotado and Borderlands 3
Stellar Blade until I plat it. Im in no rush though. Really enjoying the exploration in ng+.
Legend of Kay.
Skyward Sword and Fallout 4
Eiyuden Chronicles (Series X) Just got my castle and now I am going on a recruiting hunt.
World of Warcraft (PC) Just wrapping up some achievements and mount hunting while I wait for the new stuff to drop. Might try MoP Remix once that drops as that was one of my favorite expansions.
On Xbox: hopefully finally will buy Baldur's Gate III and will then check it out, if not, I'm not sure what I'll play.
On Switch: started reading Robotics;Notes Elite.
On PS5: I might just get back to Trails of Cold Steel IV, it's about time I did.
No gaming for me this weekend. A friend of mine, producer of wine, has arranged a festival in his hometown and I am going for a 1000km roadtrip
Ff14 Xbox series s
GTA v Xbox series s
Cricket 2010 Xbox 360
Dust Xbox 360
Gt7 PS4
Need for speed hot pursuit PS3
Tekken 8 and Robocop!
Finally I can post something other than AC Valhalla as finished earlier in week. Booted up dead island 2 today. Will also try to get in botany manor if possible
Trying out some Star Trek Online, and hoping also to begin the Gears 5 Hivebusters expansion with my bro in law.
Man was quite surprised to see the variation in games everyone playing. Good to see.
I’ve been playing Eiyuden Chronicles. About 30 hours in.
I do want to play Ghost of Eden…I bought at launch, just to show support…but so many good games to play. I might play it (or unicorn overlords) after Hellblade 2
Hope you enjoy Banishers @FraserG!
As for myself, I'll probably jump into My Time at Sandrock a bit and maybe sneak in a couple of matches of The Finals with my boyfriend.
Hope everyone has a nice and relaxing weekend!
Still Fortnite a bit each day, although I think I've gotten enough out of the battle pass to be happy with it now after a few bonus items. I do enjoy the game mostly though either way (on zero build at least!)
Brotato is still my daily fun time, as is a bit of Lonely Mountain Downhill, both from Game Pass.
As I'm looking forward to Trail Out soon I've also gotten back into Wreckfest and working my way through the latter stage competitions. Still a really fun game.
@nomither "i dont know, i buy games just to look at them in my library, maybe play the tutorial and then hop off. i blame live service for doing this to me."
I get this too but find one thing that really messes me up is said tutorials.
My attention span doesn't last very long so I get seriously impatient when games force me to hold their hand for ages coming in. I get why a lot do but give me the option to just mess around and figure it out for myself if I want to!!
I feel there's so many games I love the look and sound of but the tutorial or even the thought of it most likely having a tutorial puts me off ever playing them.
Finally fired up Armored Core VI. God this game oozes cool. To make this and Elden Ring... Fromsoft is really the best dev on the planet this gen.
@rustyduck that game is horrible
I originally had Halo 1-3 that played on X360. Never played all that much (especially Halo 2) for various reasons.
Respective discs and X360 console long gone, but now getting to relive (and make more progress) thanks to Game Pass and Master Chief Collection.

Alrighty another lovely WAYP after another early work shift again hahahaha. Hasn’t been the best week personally but in terms of games I won’t lie it’s been pretty neat. This weekends been full of wrapping up AI: The Somnium Files. That game alone is a 10/10. Just a absolutely beautiful time all around. Excited to move onto Nirvana Initiative during my vacation. Hope we get a AI3 announcement soon too. As for the rest of the weekend I’m gonna celebrate one year of TOTK by going back to Hyrule and just having fun exploring and doing fun quests. And probably another nice solid session of Persona 3 Reload. Still find myself intimidated of that game in many ways but I feel I’ve slotted into a groove there. As for the rest of the week well I go on a 2 week vacation starting next weekend so mostly the plans are to get packing and be ready with downloaded games and the like. I snagged a copy of Story Of Seasons A Wonderful Life the other day so in terms of physical games I’m all set. That game means a lot to me from my childhood. Probably just look to download stuff like Sea Of Thieves on PS5 and Hades on Switch and just pack away some physical games like Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth and polish off switch games like NEO TWEWY and Great Ace Attorney. What time I do have outside of that will be playing games like Dragons Dogma 2 and Octopath Traveler 2. Been really meaning to get back to Octopath 2 for so long and I’m hoping now is finally the right shot at this game. Probably also set up Trails Through Reverie to get beaten on vacation too. I have so many excellent gaming plans for this vacation I just can’t wait. Weird special shoutout to the movie My Cousin Vinny as I write this journal it’s on and man it’s just a great movie. Anime choices this week gotta go to Kaiju No.8 and Urusei Yatsura and Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio. Excellent excellent choices for Spring. Podcasts of the week gotta go to the usual excellents like Castle Superbeast, Big Think Dimension, Into The Aether, RPGsites Tetracast, Minnmax, Last Stand Media, Nextlander, Kit and Krysta, Easy Allies, Jeff Gerstmann, Second Wind Media and newcomer Cultaholic Wrestling. And of course we gotta give a great shoutout to my friend over at twitch.tv/akibread and their absolutely amazing streams. As always y’all stay safe, be good to each other. Have a excellent rest of your weekend and Happy Gaming.
