As someone who is Polish, I'm really happy and proud to see these guys and their hard work rewarded. This War of Mine is incredible. Haven't played Frostpunk yet, but prolly will soon π
@Markatron84
I hear ya. Thing is, I spent $1300 on a gaming PC that within 6 months went from being able to play CP2077 at 1440p/60/Ultra with RTX on Ultra to a PC that will be able to run CP2077 Phantom Liberty at 1080p/60 with RTX on low. That really was the straw that broke the camel's back. I'm fine with 1080p/60 (hell, I can live with 30 fps if it's rock solid) but not at that price. Also I hated having to have Steam, EGS, EA app, and GOG installed to have access to all the games. But that's me and I get why some people will disagree. Whatever rocks your boat, right?
@Titntin Thanks a ton! Appreciate the support. I didn't mean to bash PCs and I agree that CP2077 looks best on PC, but to look and play great in 1440p/60/RTX on Ultra it makes my PC sweat bullets and makes it so noisy that I can hear it with my headphones on. That's far from ideal as I usually game in the evenings/at night. Add twice the pricetag for it compared to consoles and it's really for enthusiasts. I'm glad to be back π
@Ep_13 I'm with BAMozzy on this one. I'm 40 and I prefer playing single player games and in single player mode. The reasons are simple: I work two jobs and do not have a fixed schedule. No way would I be available at specific times to be able to play with a group of friends. Playing with randoms is a mixed bag. In FH4 my experience has been mostly positive, but I still remember being kicked from a server and called names for not clutching the 1 vs 5 enemies on the objective in Insurgency Sandstorm. I play in short bursts and at irregular intervals. Online gaming is seriously at odds with that. Toxicity and pointlessness of it (you could potentially play endlessly the likes of Destiny 2) is another thing. I respect your opinion, but to each their own.
@JayJ Forza 6 Apex on PC opened my eyes to the greatness that was Forza 6. It blew me away and now that I have a Series X again I will buy Forza 6 and possibly Horizon 2 on disc just to have them. Especially as I have never played Horizon 2. Does it hold up?
@Alpha_Pulse Good to know I'm not the only one π I've been bouncing around since this gen launched. I've had a PS5, 2 Series X consoles (one at launch, but I sold it a year later), a Series S (nice but underpowered), a PS5, a gaming PC and now a Series X again. I dunno, as you said: there's something incredibly soothing about just booting up a console and gaming within seconds, no hassle whatsoever. PC gaming has its perks but the noise and heat levels it generates just kill it for me. I can't get over how quiet and cool the Series X is. Once you've experienced that nothing comes close. FPS, RTX and mods be damned.
Well, I've just resubscribed. I may not play all the games I want with the time I have for gaming, but I sure as hell blow way more money on games every month for sure. Games I will most likely never play more than once. So yeah, I'm going to go with GPU from here on out and only buy the games I really want to keep or that require more than one playthrough to fully appreciate
Back on Xbox!! I know, lol. It's like my 3rd Series X since launch. This PC gaming thing is not for me. This weekend for me: On Series X: Control UE On Switch: Persona 3 Both great games and I can't wait for Starfield!! Gonna get GPU soon, too. Cheers and have a great weekend everyone!
MGS4 is the worst one in the series for me. The cutscenes bordered on small movies in terms of length and there are so many just plain cheesy and goofy moments towards the end that I just barely got there. Before you ask- yeah, I played all MGS games and know Kojima's style. To think I bought a PS3 back in the day for this... Still, it's good to know it won't be limited to PS3 only soon.
@NEStalgia NES, most gamers don't care about all this drama. Me included, so it's just a matter of chilling out and gaming where the games you like are. Ignore the rest, it's not worth the stomach ulcers it can give you π
@Lightweight @Zoidpilot4 Soldier of Fortune was great back in the day, but it has aged badly. FEAR, on the other hand, still looks and plays great (1 and 2, 3 is a cash grab abomination). I'd also love for SOF to make a comeback, ditto for FEAR, so this is on my radar.
I agree. It's ridiculous that there's another article devoted to a memo that is clearly aimed at winning the FTC case and this article is aimed at getting 200+ comments here, mostly flame war type. Who cares? Just play your games and leave the courtroom drama to MS lawyers FFS.
@NEStalgia
Gaming has never been a cheap hobby. Sure, it has become a mainstream type of entertainment over the last 15 years, but things haven't changed that much regarding the overall costs. I'm 40 and this gen is the first time in my life I can afford pretty much any gaming gear I want, but it didn't use to be this way so I just stayed with one platform, usually a used/cheap option. If one can't afford something it's logical that you should just consider your options and maybe buy a Series S. I see a lot of people still gaming on PS4 or XB One.
While definitely a move with the famed 'bad optics' I have to say I haven't seen people react so violently when cars (a standard commodity these days) have become absurdly expensive. Nobody saying they will just walk lol. So once some people overreact it will be business as usual I guess.
Yeah, I've already pre-ordered the Starfield Premium Edition on PC. Not going to buy anything else for a year at least as I plan to make this game my second life, basically. Maybe on the Switch as palate cleansers.
@Realist If such things ruin games for you then I don't know what to tell you. It's inevitable with consoles and even my rig (Ryzen 7, 32GB of RAM, RTX 3070) will be barely enough for Phantom Liberty at 1080p/60/high. Ever since Covid has ended hardware specs seem to have skyrocketed.
So many fuming PS fanboys talking down the show and Starfield being 30 fps. A delightful sight, to be sure. I will be playing in 1440p/60 on my 3070 PC but I would have zero issues with 4K/30 or even 1440p on Xbox. 90% of gamers will just enjoy the game instead of Digital Foundry style dissection of it that has become a plague these days.
@BobCoffee Appreciate the patience and civil response to my rambling. I've gone through all platforms this gen (currently on PC and Switch) and I'm finding it more and more difficult to get invested in games these last 3 years. Cyberpunk and TLoU2 were the only exceptions. Anyway, I do hope that once Stalker 2 releases it will end up being a classic like the original one and earn these guys enough money to sustain them and their families in these horrible circumstances.
@BobCoffee Yeah, I may have overreacted a bit. Guess I agree with your thoughts in general. Then again I was one of those who loved the hell out of CP2077 at launch and loved its smaller scope and focused plot compared to the likes of The Witcher 3. More and more often I find myself wondering if gaming is something I want to dabble in still (been gaming since 1991 and I think I might be having a crisis of sorts).
@BobCoffee Thanks, but I live next door to Ukraine (Poland) and I teach the refugees' children English so I am well aware of the situation. Maybe what I wrote sounded harsher than I had intended. Guess I'm just frustrated with the state of the industry. Same way as I am disappointed in Witchfire launching in Early Access in September on PC when it should be a complete game by now.
So in other words this game is nowhere near completion. Sad state of the industry right there. Undercooked releases, full of bugs and poor optimisation, accompanied by GaaSes aplenty that die in 6 months, as well as shallow, repetetive AAA games that cost an arm and a leg, require top tier hardware and are mindnumbingly boring and repetetive. Did I get that right? At this point Nintendo and indies are our only solace.
I'll be watching it live, keeping my fingers crossed that it will blow away that pathetic showing from Sony. I'm hoping to see Hellblade 2, Forza 8 and Starfield of course. Anything more than that (Stalker 2? Fable?) will be a bonus.
@Stocksy
Most likely extra cars and tracks, as was the case with Dirt Rally 2.0. I'm fine with more content. Most devs cut some content from their base games and serve it as paid DLC. You can always wait and get the complete version down the line. I'm just waiting to learn if WRC 23 has classic cars and is VR supported. If so, day one for me.
@SplooshDmg Haha. Careful what you wish for π Seriously, though, this is basically a make or break kind of situation for my relationship with Xbox. If this showcase turns out to be a huge letdown I will just forget I ever owned an Xbox.
Man, what are the chances of this being VR-compatible? I love Forza in all its variety but having bought into VR racing recently I'd love for this to follow in the footsteps of GT7. Unlikely, I guess with Phil and Co not really digging VR.

This is such a heartwarming video. I actually teared up watching it. Brandon seems like such an awesome guy. Major props to Turn 10 and every time I see Forza 8 in action I am more and more inclined to get it day 1 (on PC). A bit of positive Xbox news in an otherwise dismal week for the green team.
Phil, how about a tweet to cheer them up? Praise their work? No? Ok then. On a serious note: the IT sector is firing people left, right and centre. Google has just fired 12000 people. Amazon 18000 people. It's not just MS. Apparently the IT sector isn't the honeypot it has been advertised as for the last 2 years.
On my PC I've taken a break from Elden Ring as I'm getting my ass kicked by the bosses. Need to grind and level up to improve my chances. On my Steam Deck: Tomb Raider 2013, Mortal Kombat 9 and Valkyria Chronicles 4.
Mostly Elden Ring and Valkyria Chronicles 4. Also testing some games on my Steam Deck on the side. Rediscovering games that I've long forgotten about, like Mortal Kombat X, which looks and plays great on SD. Enjoy your weekend everyone!
Elden Ring! Never been a fan of Soulslike games (though I did get pretty far in Dark Souls) but this game has sucked me in like few others before it. Also, being able to play it on my Steam Deck whenever I can't do that on my PC is just the cherry on top.
@IOI
You're not. I may have jumped over to PC but I'm still rooting for Xbox to get their s**t together and release games that will make these fantastic consoles worthy competitors to Playstation. Yup, I had both a Series S and X and they are great bits of tech.
As for Forza 8, if it's like Forza 6- yay! If it's like Forza 7- boo! I'm mostly excited about Starfield, Stalker 2 and Hellblade 2 if it even comes out in 2023. I don't know what to expect for certain because MS has been mum on anything related to any of those games, sadly.
@everynowandben Welcome to the club! I got my PC in late October and @SplooshDmg had something to do with it haha. Right now I'm playing Kena: Bridge of Spirits and loving it! Also thinking about going back to Death Stranding after I got tired of it midway through the 6th chapter. I'm also waiting for my Steam Deck to arrive next week! Happy New Year everyone!
In my case, a 4th playthrough of CP2077, some PES 2021 (with Smoke Patch) and Assetto Corsa Competizione (just some hotlapping and admiring the beutiful replays). All of the above on PC. Merry Christmas everyone!
@LtSarge Yeah, I remember being blown away by the visuals of Grid Legends. Codies have almost no match in the audio department. I say almost as I'm currently learning the ropes in Assetto Corsa Competizione and the audio in that game... Man, it gives me shivers sometimes.

Right now I'm playing Kena: Bridge of Spirits and loving it! Also thinking about going back to Death Stranding after I got tired of it midway through the 6th chapter.
I'm also waiting for my Steam Deck to arrive next week!
Happy New Year everyone!

@Romans12
Err... I'm playing games available on Xbox on a PC. I still think I can comment here.
Re: Talking Point: What Xbox Games Are You Playing Over The Holiday Period?
In my case, a 4th playthrough of CP2077, some PES 2021 (with Smoke Patch) and Assetto Corsa Competizione (just some hotlapping and admiring the beutiful replays). All of the above on PC. Merry Christmas everyone!

@LtSarge
Yeah, I remember being blown away by the visuals of Grid Legends. Codies have almost no match in the audio department. I say almost as I'm currently learning the ropes in Assetto Corsa Competizione and the audio in that game... Man, it gives me shivers sometimes.
