Another Xbox Game Pass update day is upon us, and this one is delivering a lovely surprise! Deep Silver's Dead Island 2 has been shadow dropped into the Game Pass library, having not been announced prior to its arrival.
This zombie-slaying adventure lands today alongside two other titles. Here's an introduction to each of them:
Bluey: The Videogame (Console, PC, Cloud)
"Join the fun with Bluey and her family in Bluey: The Videogame! Play a brand-new story set across 4 interactive adventures. For the first time ever, explore iconic locations such as the Heeler House, Playgrounds, Creek and a bonus beach location. Play your favourite games from the TV show, including Keepy Uppy, Chattermax Chase, and more!"
Dead Island 2 (Console, Cloud)
"Dead Island 2 is a First Person Action RPG set in an unique setting – a hellish, yet stylish and vibrant, gore-drenched vision of Los Angeles, nicknamed HELL-A. The series’ unique formula, dark humor and over the top zombie-slaying returns, with all the swagger and charisma you’d expect from Dead Island."
Inkulinati 1.0 (Console, PC, Cloud)
"Inkulinati is a turn-based strategy game straight from medieval manuscripts, where a rabbit’s bum can be deadlier than a dog's sword. Become a master of the Living Ink, build your own bestiary, defeat medieval superstars and collect perks to unleash hidden powers."

This is a very "first-world problem" but I just deleted DI2 last night after the free weekend ended
@abe_hikura same lol
Same here ...
I was wondering why the game pass logo was appearing in the game during the free weekend, it explains now.
Ooooh, Dead Island 2 is a nice addition. Thanks 🤓
Picked Dead Island 2 up last week, typical and I guess you're welcome 😂
I already own Dead Island 2 on PS5 but it's so much fun I'll probably play it again tbh nice surprise.
Bizarre that Dead Island 2 is reportedly ONLY on Game Pass Ultimate. Is that a first for games not part of EA Play?
So many games to play and nowhere near enough time. Have wanted to play DI2 since the first trailers, so I'll have to find some way to experience the carnage sharpish.
@themightyant I dont think it's an EA game. Edit Oh I see what you mean, need more coffee!!!
Dead island 2 is great , smashing up zombie guts never gets old , only downside the games quite short and the ending took me by suprise...it just ended
I played Dead Island solo when it first released, and loved it. I then played through the game again last week in co-op for the first time, and finished it, and it's DLC, and once again I thoroughly enjoyed it. What I will say though is that the DLC is very strange! Weird does not do it justice at all... 😂
Very cool. Was going to start Tales of Arise but got caught up with Balatro. Might start Dead Island 2 though now. Actually, I think I got the original Desd Island for cheap ages ago. Should I play that one first?
Dead Island 2, great game. Played it when it came out.
@MetalGear_Yoshi no need to play the first game at all
Gamepass is sort of piling on now isn’t it? Impossible to keep up - feels like I have a backlog for the ages…
That was unexpected. Time to beat some games and make some space
DI2 excellent.
I kept putting off buying it at £30 just knowing full well it would end up in a sun
@abe_hikura , @Ab_
Yep same here, lol, and I was going to buy it at first, fun game , but I thought, hey let's try Tales of Arise first....
Dead Island 2?!?…ffs I just bought it recently in a sale 🙄
Now that's nice. I just DLd dead island 2. I'll check it out as soon as I'm done with gears of war 2 which I'm close to the finish line.
Of course I told my wife Dead Island 2 was the one game I really wanted for Christmas..,… 😃
I am glad it is there for those that haven’t played it. It is a good game. I was ready for it to be over when I finished, but there are some solid hours of Zombie killing fun to be had.
Holy wow. So we've got Dead Space, RE2, RE3, now dead island 2. Gamepass is where the zombies are. Fingers crossed for RE4 remake shortly....
Dead Island 2 is a great addition!
Looking like I need to resub soon!
Dead Island 2!!!
looks at available storage space
.......☹
Dead Island 2 is a great addition.
Ok...I guess no choice but to pay for game pass again.
Dead island 2
I will be trying Dead Island and Bluey. I'm not sure two more different games could jump up my Game Pass list on the same day. 😬
Whoa! Been wanting to play Dead Island 2 for a long time. Forza 8 needs to wait. I’m starting it tonight!
So glad I didn’t pick up Dead Island 2 in the sale a couple of weeks back! Downloading it now.
Wait what? Dead Island 2 is on Game Pass? I just played it during the free weekend. I feel bad for anyone who bought it last weekend! I didn't mind it, didn't want to buy it, but for free on Game Pass, I will definitely give it another go. The characters were a lot of fun.
FPS games that aren't online competitive versus multiplayer sucks
@jesse_dylan I'm guessing that is why it shadow dropped in Game Pass.
Finally something interesting on gamepass, it's been a while..
I'm sure my son will love bluey. Hopefully it's not one of those games for kids that's actually really frustrating to play. He hates mario for this reason and he also says he hates "old timey" games as they are a lot harder. Kids these days don't realise how easy things are.
TBF dead island 2 kinda got leaked as coming but it's a decent score. I have it on PC and it's fun enough but its not anywhere near as good as tech lands zombie parkour open world madhouse's dying light 1 & 2.
I think I played dying light more total hours than many other games combined over the last 12ish years .. I would spend many hours a day roaming around and it never got old lol. Never played much of 2 because it ran bad on my 2080ti and now I have a 4090 which runs it great but I have other things to finish first including dead island 2. Maybe I'll get lucky and it will have cross save
@Blofse Mario frustrating... Whaaaat ?! As a kid I loved the simple yet alluring challenge Mario offered. Even at like 6 years old I knew I only died when I messed up and when I was 8 I finally beat Mario 1 then quickly beat 2 and 3... I was a lifetime master at that point.
It was invaluable in teaching me patience and observational skills/pattern recognition so I could get through and win.
@d0x3601 tbh I think it's does to instant access streaming and not having to wait for times on TV for your fav program etc. basically patcionce is something this generation dosent quite get as much as maybe we do. Tbh I do remember hating mario until I was about 7. We had a nes and the other games we had were mega man, gauntlet and gremlins - all mega hard games!
@Blofse my biggest nemesis as a little kid was Metroid... It made no sense to me lol. Eventually when I was about 10 I was able to push through the frustration and figure it out but when we first got the NES I was just like... What is this nonsense.
Now is easily one of my favorite series and the only game I don't like is Metroid other m. Super Metroid and the fan made AMR2 are definitely my top 2
@iplaygamesnstuff I guess so! You'd think they'd plan it in a less predatory way.
