Don't get me wrong, YES! but It would also be nice for the definitive trilogy to get a next-gen update (and for Mafia 2 to get some actual work done to it)
Hoping for some interesting reveals from across the industry (hate it when these non-platform shows are heavily tilted towards one platform)
@MjJmediablogger I'm in a similar boat. Not knowing the "rules" for Xbox's multiplatform plans at the moment is far more off-putting than them "pulling a Sega".
I fully support the idea of a platform-agnostic environment but that ONLY works if everyone is doing it, if they aren't... well It's going to go for as well for Xbox as "buying third-party exclusives" during the start of the X1 era. Just made it possible for Sony to buy all the exclusives and extra content for less.
The "Console Wars" nonsense was exactly but this just feels like folding. We need competition between the platforms to make them better.
Legit forgot Atomic Heart was still on GP but I gave up after a bug with the ball boss fight required a full restart, I uninstalled played something else came back to the game and the bug happened again when I reached the fight again.
It does seem weird to me, in light of the whole "creation club" thing there does seem to be a "path" to these getting standalone, official console releases and Xbox is just sitting on it's thumbs. Granted with Fallout London there's going to be some concern about people seeing it as a "proper Fallout game" and expect it to be canon but this is different. It's a remake of an existing game and whatever it'll cost MS to get it done is going to be significantly less than doing it themselves and keeps the Bethesda team working on their games.
And it would keep the IPs going whilst Bethesda takes it's time with ES6.
@jesse_dylan Not really. Each game in the series has a different setting and features. The only reason they get delisted is because the car companies (and music artists) only let them sell the game for so many years before they have to pull it or spend a lot resecuring the rights.
I want it so if a bundle is discounted but you own part of the bundle, the price is reduced acordigly. The quest store works like this and it's great. I really hate being punished for actually owning content already.
I'm sure discovery could be improved, as it always needs improving
Microsoft really needs to confirm some sort of ground rules for their multiformat plans. I know people who traditionally are multi console folk but now are so sure that "most xbox games will come to PS eventually" they aren't buying an Xbox this gen.
These are people who would 100% sign up to gamepass to restart their Xbox library and simply forget to unsub.
I'm starting to get that feeling from last gen where it seems Xbox has just given up trying this gen, faffing around in the short term in the hopes or making more money in the long term. Which hey makes sense... except we're in that previous "long term" now and we're been having patience for nearly a decade
(Pretty sure its not) Ironically, This is the first two point game I 'm not instantly sold on and kinda need it to be on GP (or, you know, a demo) to see if I like it.
Good timing though, it's been long enough since galaticare (enjoyed that more than I was expecting to) that I'm about ready for another management sim.
Looking forward to it. Enjoyed 2 and 3, tried the original when it first came out and didn't get on with it but I'm looking forward to giving it a shot
I'm still not entirely sure how this is supposed to be a thing or how its supposed to play out.
Why should Joe public use MS' alt appstore over the ones that actually come with their devices? Cloud games? Native game ports seems chatoic considering the range of abdroid devices and indervidual quirks of OS builds.
People didn't want a MS appstore when they was using windows phone, why would they want this now?
I'm guessing the long term plan is to pull the content from the other appstores and expect the folks playing candy crush to migrate to it.
I'd feel bad. The only reason I'm paying any attention to CoD this year is because its coming to GP. The single player/co-op content rarely justifies the RRP for me.
The X1 generation was filled with these droughts and whilst gamepass has helped address that there is this constant feeling that other platforms are getting constant games whilst we wait for a smattering of releases shouldn't be lingering now 4 years into this generation (and now that Xbox has 30 studios). It's reminding me more and more of the Dreamcast and Wii U.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Fallout 4 next-gen update was intended for then after Starfield delayed it. It would explain why it launched so busted and why it wasn't like Skyrim NG getting the bundle with all the creations.
Hopefully.. hopefully... I'm nearing the end of Sandrock. -Trying WWE for the weekend to see if it's worth the upgrade (eh). -Playing Medieval Dynasty VR (whilst I wait for my buddy to be free to start the Xbox version in COOP) -Playing more Fallout: London as my PC weeps (it REALLY doesn't like it)
@BowsersBuddy The full game is on GP the problem is you need to install the mod on a specific version number and the one on gamepass is a newer version. It's just extra work to get it sorted whereas a Steam user can just roll back to a previous version, and the GoG version never got the update that breaks this mod in the first place.
@Romans12 You watch they'll delay Avowed because of the release schedule make a big song and dance about giving it a super polish then they'll discover Indy needs more time and is getting delayed.
See he says "content for console" but then goes on to say "expanding it to everywhere people play games"
That at best sounds like Xbox is being treated as "early access" with exclusives coming to PS/Nin later and at worse using just releasing games directly onto PS/Nin.
I seem to recall it being reported that there was some sort of conflict between Sony and Bungie about being further integration and the (then) next Destiny expansion was going to decide Bungie's fate.
If that was true then I guess the expansion did offer the demanded results by the Sony execs, which is to be expected I'm sure it wasn't a reasonable target anyway.
It's almost like ... -trashing your platform and games (to win court cases) -releasing exclusives on rival platforms. -struggling to release games both in terms of frequency and quality
Are not conductive to selling hardware.
Games sell consoles. Not specs, not owning a bunch of studios or entire publishers, and not "you don't need a xbox, to play xbox" subscription service. Games!
I am not hopeful about the future of Xbox as a platform. You just don't get to have two washout generations in a row and expect excitement for another.
Played a bit today. It's pretty good and I am really enjoying but there's just little niggles in the design. I did a mission and it wants me to return to the quest giver, they've moved somewhere else in the labyrinth. Doors that should be openable aren't and just getting round can be difficult.
Went to install MW3 last night and xbox went weird. It said I had to clear space because it's "bloody huge" but the list of games didn't appear. I went into my games and apps list and was greater by a spinning wheel in all the tabs.
It seems like the logical progression of the "Creation Club" I do think it will need some form of branding to separate it from the actual Fallout games though. "Tall Tales of the Wasteland" or something. Frame it as stories told by wastelanders around a campfire and not part of the actual canon.
I'm guessing by "multiplayer" they don't mean making the existing gamestyle co-op and they're talking more Anthem.
Because Wasteland 3, Baldur's Gate 3 (and even Divinity) show it's possible to do Co-op in an RPG and not turn the whole thing in to a "shared world" thing.
Considering every other sub is getting frequent price increases, ad-supported teirs (or adding them with an optional extra cost to remove them), and doing crackdowns (password sharing using trials), I'm not suprised Gamepass is getting the same treatment.
I'm not happy about it, I'm just not suprised.
Not happy about the screwing with "standard" though.
I don't understand why they keep doing this. Why do they drip information and let the rumour mongers fill in their own Blanks?
Whoever thought it was a good idea to annouce GP standard dropping day 1s and not elaborating further needs to be booted. I'll It would be nice a Xbox owner to not have MS stepping on a rake every 3 weeks
I do like that now all teirs of gamepass include online. Non ultimate members don't need to have two subs.
I still think removing "day 1" is silly, one if the major criticisms of PSN is its confusing teirs.
Making "standard" a streaming only version makes more sense to me, particularly with the while "you don't need an Xbox to play Xbox" thing they have going on.
Standard should keep day one games and be cloud only. Pitch it as the tier for people who "don't need an xbox to play xbox" via Fire TV, Android App, Smart TVs, Quest, and so on (have it a requirement when we can play our owned games off the cloud). Have it work on console too, but if they want to play natively they need ultimate.

@OldGamer999 No, it was part of that "paid upgrade" that let you play early so it's not part of GPU.

Kinda surprised the buggy got this full trailer and the DLC got a quick announcement.

On the one hand, a mixture of Dungeon Keeper and Black & White sounds interesting but on the other, Molyneux is just a walking red flag at this point.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think Of Mafia: Definitive Edition On Xbox Game Pass?
Loved it. It was nice having pacing in a crime story (compared to GTA, SR, LaD, etc) because it's not worried about open world shenanigans
Did feel like the story skips over stuff. It's weird for a story that is essentially a man trying to save his family, and we never see his kid.
