I think the word I am looking for is Meh
If you enjoy Japanese games I think it was great, if you don’t there wasn’t much interest.
Gonna be a polarising one.
It was pretty good
I just woke up so I’ll wait until the separate recap page goes live.
Edit: not bad. A few reveals there. I was hoping FF Pixel remaster would be on Game Pass but not too disappointed as Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom came out today.
Was hoping for more
I gave it a B. Lots of new and remade RPGs that I'm interested in playing in the future. Threads of Time was probably the most interesting to me personally.
That puzzle game that dropped on Game Pass also looks fun, so I'll probably give that a spin too. Katamari is always a fun one to play a round or two of now that it's on Game Pass, if that's your thing.
It's still live, only missed a hour
For the most part it was a lot of stuff we already knew, or in the unfortunate case of the FF Pixel remasters leaked before the show. No FF16 was definitely a bummer for me.
However Tanuki: Pon's Summer looks really charming, definitely looking out for that one
Pretty good. Problem is people are spoiled with Xbox presentations lately so it might have felt a little underwhelming because of that. But it was definitely good if you like japanese games. And that's like the whole point.
Awful, just awful. Just a bunch of stuff we already knew about. And SquareEnix's plan to "support" Xbox clearly means doing the bare minimum.
There were only 4 games shown that had some vague interest for me:
Indiana Jones - I may give this a go, if the reviews are good. I worry this could be another dud for Xbox.
Metal Gear Solid - I've never played any of the series, and usually dislike remakes because they often fail to update the game beyond controls and graphics. Basically, they play like old games, rather than the more modern ones we have these days. Not sure I could rely on the reviews for this one either, as many will be looking at it with nostalgia, rather than a modern eye. Will await the reviews and see how I feel then.
Metaphor: ReFantazio - I know it's supposed to be a good game, but I'm not a fan of the art style, so again, I'll await the reviews, and probably a deep sale.
And lastly;
Slitterhead - Could be the most interesting of the lot, but could equally be awful. Will have to wait for the reviews.
I'm sure certain markets will really enjoy what was shown, as will fans of retro / retro-looking game, but for me, not a lot really.
Removed - inappropriate language
A lot of ads of things we already know. Some titles from small developers, including the inevitable GaaS. Pixel Remasters are welcome.
Both Mana are a cool addition for Game Pass, but something stronger was missing.
E? Do you people know how grades work?
I thought it was pretty solid. Did t feel like too much new, but was excited to see Threads of Time, the two old man’s games dropping in Gamepass, and of course the official announcement of the pixel remasters!!!!
I also can’t wait for Atelier and Slitterhead
It was awful to say the least
@Ricky-Spanish Microsoft are comptly useless
Enjoyed it! Great games to get onto today.
How would the Pure Xbox team rate it @FraserG
Realistically, it’s the same thing Xbox does every year for TGS. “These games have been on other platforms for a few years. Now coming to Xbox. Some on Gamepass too!” I get it if you’re excited because you’re only on Xbox, but I stopped being Xbox-centric because games I liked lagged behind on the console
@MjJmediablogger Solid C at least. I'm a sucker for shadow drops!
More Japanese support than ever, so excellent. Trials of Mana and Legend of Mana on Game Pass today, Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster available now and cheaper than on PS and Nintendo stores, Visions of Mana (deluxe edition includes a series BGM bundle) is just around the corner and demo of Metaphor: Re Fantazio is out now. Atelier and Dragon Quest remasters are coming to Xbox. It was also nice seeing more of Metal Gear Solid Delta and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. So many great games...
No FF7R or FF16. PS gets everything. Sick of it
WoW & I thought State of Play was bad for PlayStation. Then Xbox come along & say "hold my beer".
Given its at the TGS a lot of that would have gone down well for the territory. For the rest of us I found it pretty poor and easily the worst xbox show case I've seen in some time. Most of the recent ones have been bangers, this certainly wasnt.
Glad the pixel remasters have finally come to xbox though. Im still hoping for Indy to be great, but I still cant get excited for the 1st person gameplay we've seen. I hope my fears are not justified and it lands good, it certainly looks polished in presentation.
I thought it was pretty good
Better the Sonys show the other day. But I do think my feel good factor is because at long last Xbox owners have some reasons to smile.
The last quarter of the year is looking good for Xbox.
I wasn't expecting much in the way of "First-party" news so I was rather happy with the show, got some new GP titles, and got a look at some interesting games. So I'm happy enough.
Unreleated but @FraserG I don't suppose you guys know anything about the Shadows of Doubt Xbox delay?
@abe_hikura They've discovered a last minute issue resulting in a minor delay for the Xbox version - no new date yet.
People shouldn’t be too hard on it. It is the Tokyo Games Show at the end of the day. It should be tailored towards that audience. It’s cool getting all those square title’s. Here’s to getting more in the future (FF7 Remake)
@FraserG Thank you
C+, sc2 was the best announcement ironically enough.
It was top for me, 8/10. Allready playing Trials of Mana.
None of the games, aimed at a Japanese audience, is exclusive to the platform. Doubt this will increase sales of Xbox consoles over there.
@THE_VITTLER Well it's the Tokyo Game Show, so that's where the Japanese games are. They were pretty much left out of the summer showcase.
E for reasonable but nothing for me. Games I thought could be cool are generic and samey then exciting so forget new titles and exciting ideas it's just a new title and the same ideas. HOW EXCITING. XD
Fair ports/remasters, fair Xbox support from Japanese devs. I mean what else to say.
I appreciate what's there but even when being open minded, knowing some of the IPs sure it's great Xbox support, but the new stuff is bland and repetitive of other IPs just a different name/universe but the same gameplay goals so why would I be interested in them.
I'd rather play older mech games not MP ones that look generic and with a different name, give me a cool singleplayer one maybe but mostly would get older ones instead for that or more interesting turn based RPGs with better turn based combat systems then this being just samey as the rest and changes to the game I don't find changes it up enough. Story/universe seems fine.
So who cares and the old/remasters are cool if into to them of course but you know whether you were into them or not.
The rest is just cool Xbox is getting support from these then not at all pretty much.
I wanted the Pixel Remasters and that's what I got. A C, most definitely...
Maybe. 😂
Some great gba games i can even play on my phone... Thks but no thks... Sarah said our relationship with SE is better than ever but they couldnt even bring FF16 a 1+ year old game that didn't sell well on ps and it wont sell well on pc either because its a awful port...
@GeorgeKal agree was hoping for somekind of bigger FF announcement
It was good but I was hoping for FFXVI, guess I'll just buy it for Steam.
@Sol4ris Temporary communication... You are all class.
