Smaller titles like Hi-Fi which bolster GP but don't sell consoles are perfect for porting to other platforms. Games like SoT are old enough no one is going to go "ah I like the look of upcoming xbox exclusive _______ so I'll wait 5 years and it may come to ps" off the back of last gen live service being ported.
Its if something like Starfield, Forza, Indy that's a problem unless it part of some sort of "hostage exchange" PS gets indy, Xbox get Spiderman.
@K1LLEGAL Yeah that was my thought, someone wrote "Monday" for their article and I assumed there was some preset investor/ financial thing going on and that's why they said Monday. But it seems to be a day they pulled out of their rears.
@MrN0vmbr it really dose feel like a million years ago there was all this positively around the next 12 months of Xbox, now its debate if there will even be an xbox in 12 months lol
I just finished Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth, so I'm a bit lost at the moment. I will jump back in to finish up the substories (it's just the "romance" ones) and the last Sujimon section.
@EvilSilentFrame Yeah I'm not expecting it to be that bad, I don't expect MS to announce all their games coming to PS/Switch, and I'm not expecting 90% of Acti-Bliz games to be exclusive anyway but I do worry that enough MS/Bethesda games "jumping ship" would be the next twist in a death spiral.
I fully support stuff like SoT or Hi-Fi Rush going multiplatform. I can't imagine SoT has much more earning potential on Xbox/PC and as much as I love Hi-Fi Rush, it wasn't going to sell systems.
I'm pretty sure Sega wasn't planning on not the Dreamcast being the end of their consoles either.
I never doubted MS would want to make more consoles, my fear is releasing too much "exclusive" content on rival platforms will cause sales to nose dive to the point that it won't make fiscal sense to make consoles, which in turn dooms our digital libraries.
Basically, I want them to avoid a death spiral that dooms my digital library developed across 3 generations to a few games on Play Anywhere and only GP titles via the cloud.
Anything more than "select" titles being multiformat and I'm done buying stuff on Xbox. It'll be the Game Pass machine they want it to be but I will not be adding to my Xbox digital library no MTXs, No DLCs, No game purchases. I don't see the point in investing in content for an ecosystem that won't exist in the future.
Again I don't care about PS players getting to play "our games", I care about MS making a mistake now that means my library is put at risk later.
I get MS doesn't want to reveal details directly to it's folks first, but this is going to keep getting worse and worse until they talk but by then the damage could be done.
My concern is this could lead to further console sales woes, which in turn leads to them not making Xboxs anymore, and then my game library that I've invested in for 3 generations is just... gone.
-Not many games are "play anywhere" -Most game licences won't cover cloud streaming. -Sony/Steam isn't going to honour my purchase history.
I don't care that PS fans get to play Xbox games, it's me waking up to find my library trapped on increasingly ageing hardware and lost when MS closes its gamestore.
As I said before I'm not adding to my Xbox library until I know more because this reaks of third party death spiral, and I doubt Sony is going to be honour those purchases lol
Obviously it depends on what's actually happening, there is a big difference between launching Starfield on PS5 within a year and launching it on PS5 when Elder Scrolls is coming).
Releasing major exclusives on PS feels like point of now return in a death spiral.
Xbox is so far behind and so tainted by them playing possum for the court cases, there is no way anyone will read this as anything but waving a white flag. There is no "4D thinking" that'll stop that spiral when it starts picking up speed.
Less xboxs will be bought, less games will be bought on them, less Devs will choose to release on Xbox, less games on gamepass, so less xboxs get sold and around and around we go.
Soon enough our digital libraries, our history on Xbox is just fodder for cloud streaming and the few "play anywhere" titles on PC.
Until will get clarification from MS I'm not adding to my xbox digital library. It's on thing to spend in a bubble, is another to spend in a bust.
If big Xbox franchises start appearing on PlayStation, and crossplay being standard what exactly is the point of me having an Xbox?
I support stuff like Hi-Fi Rush (something that wasn't going to sell consoles) or Sea of Theives (something that's done sales wise and from last gen) but Starfield and Indy? that's a whole other level.
I get the PC strategy but sharing first-party titles with Playstation seems like the fastest way to "pull a Sega" and as much as I'm a fan of Game Pass, I can't see why I shouldn't have a PS5 instead. It has its exclusives, Xbox games, and VR.
What's weird to me is how quickly this went. We normally get some form of heads up but here it was just "it's suddenly delisted from Steam but still on consoles... and it's gone from there too".
I wonder if it gets a "surprise remaster" in the near future.
I think with the whole "gotta perserve games" thing MS has going on I think there consoles will have a disc option BUT I don't think new games will keep coming on discs, the drive will be see as a backwards compatibility option.
Don't get me wrong, I fully understand and support CD Red dropping it's MP plans after it's poor launch but it was a huge bummer.
I really like Cyberpunk's gameplay and Night City is one hell of a setting. Being able to that with friends would have been a blast even if it was just teaming up for special gigs instead of say something overly ambitious "CPOnline"..
AEW was disapointing, not bad but I could just play No Mercy. I finished all the Phantom Liberty content and doing Panem's missions without romance seems to have stalled me out. Frostpunk... I was doing well until everyone died. My co-op buddies are out of town, and the only other game I was playing is House Flipper but I'm using that for achievements for the rewards.
Gonna give it a B, mostly because everything is coming out at the end of the year, and exclusives wise it seems we'll only have Hellblade till that Sep-Dec window.
But also partly because Avowed didn't tell me anything actually "new". 90% of it was the standard RPG buzzwords and the last 10% was talking about combat without explicitly stating how it was going to fluidly handle melee, guns, magic.
Indy's getting delayed right? I'd like to be wrong but other games got month or quarter release dates indy just gets a vague 2024? That fall/winter section all ready has Avowed and Stalker2 just sounds like that's gonna end up moving to avoid all the other games and be march 2025 or something.
Avowed combat is a bit of a ? For me, obviously need to find out more but I really hope that circle can be turned off. Looking forward to it.
Having... suffered... the timer in 1 and 2 I do feel like the me ha ic is part of the franchises DNA and having it set to days was a nice balance of it being there and not ruining your fun.
Maybe a reboot will refocus it back? DR4 focused way to much on the "go kil zombies" as the basis for the game. Back to the mystery solving and the feeling of being swarmed.
@Kaloudz it was less "ticking clock" and more "these events happen on these days" so it was vastly more manageable and didn't feel like it was forcing you to do things "it's way"
@FarmDog08 Same, I'm not one for buying early access but it would be hard to refuse for IW. Luckily for me it doesn't overwise it'd be in the super expensive edition.
I've been holding off because of the save issue, I'll see if this takes. Luckily I'll have "Infinite Wealth" to let the community see how successful the fix will be.
I used to use GAME a lot but they neutered the reward points so Amazon, Smyths, and even Argos became cheaper, then the local store closed and the website got more expensive and slower deliveries.
Not accepting trade-ins is one of the final spins of it's death spiral.
@The-Grezzly-Bear I reckon that's their workaround for the whole "Ubisoft get the cloud rights for Activision games" deal. Oh look Gamepass ultimate gives you access to Ubisoft cloud games.
@Kaloudz I love the DR games i liked how they could juggle the camp and the dark and twisted but man 4 was dumb, it felt like a cheap knockoff or a parody game.

Some nice offers, still not adding to my digital library till we hear more about their plans.

Re: Microsoft Announces Official Date & Time For 'Updates On The Xbox Business'
It's weird this is a podcast right?
Not a produced video, or even just Phil with his shelves.
A podcast is going to deliver "the future of Xbox"
Re: Tension Builds As Xbox Prepares For Major 'Business Update Event' This Week
@K1LLEGAL Yeah that was my thought, someone wrote "Monday" for their article and I assumed there was some preset investor/ financial thing going on and that's why they said Monday. But it seems to be a day they pulled out of their rears.
Re: Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered: Release Date, Release Times & Preload Details On Xbox
I recently played the OG versions again, me buying this is going to be purely on the back of the "modern" controls and how they make the game feel.
Re: Tension Builds As Xbox Prepares For Major 'Business Update Event' This Week
I could of sworn I read this was happening "monday" aka today.

Re: Rumour: Microsoft Surface Team May Be In Charge Of Building The Next Xbox
Yeah "team specialiseling in portable hardware making portable hardware" makes way more sense than "portable specialists making home console"
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 10-11)

Re: Xbox Supposedly 'Very Surprised' At The Extent Of The Latest Rumours
@Feffster exactly where I am, I dot care if PS players get access to exclusives, I care about them taking the first step In ending our library.
I've just finished LAD:IW and if this wasn't having over us I would buy the DLC but like hell am I adding anything atm.
Re: God Of War Creator Suggests New Exclusive Strategy Could Be 'Desirable' For Xbox
"They don't care about losing console sales if Game Pass grows"
As the Spartans said "IF"
Re: Disney Invests $1.5 Billion In Epic To Create New Universe Connected To Fortnite
@Kaloudz This seems more like "we're gonna use Fortnite as a platform" than making games that would be sold separately.

Re: Report: Call Of Duty 'Black Ops Gulf War' Will Feature An Open World Campaign This October
I don't know if this campaign will be good but I think it's a good thing anyway.

-It might be the kick in the butt Farcry needs.

Re: Talking Point: How Important Is EA Play To You On Xbox Game Pass?
I would assume the Game Pass deal is meant to last for a generation.
Re: Xbox Might Be Looking Into A Handheld Console As PlayStation Rumours Circulate
Ideally, a handheld Xbox would have Series S performance so the base level is the same and it doesn't have a separate library or rely on streaming.
I don't see the point of them releasing a windows device in an increasingly crowed "Handheld PC" market, their USP has to be their existing ecosystem.
Re: Xbox 'Providing Support To Enable Dedicated Servers' In Palworld
Why is this now a problem? I don't recall other Early Access devs complaining the Xbox version was behind.
I'm guessing they just organised it so all platform updates hit at the same time.

I wonder if it gets a "surprise remaster" in the near future.
Re: Talking Point: Would You Buy A 'Revised' Xbox Series X|S Controller In 2024?
I'm guessing these coming was the reason behind that random Xbox pad sale on amazon earlier in the month.
As long as I want have to replace at 13 months later, I'll be happy.
Re: 'Green Hell' Is Getting A Free Xbox Series X|S Version As Last-Gen Development Winds Down
Sadly this is going to be a thing with these games with "on going development" but at least the next-gen upgrade is free.

That list is just a blur of "not like a dragon" and "is like a dragon" to me.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 20-21)
I'm hoping the kids decide to nap so I can jump into the Quest 3 updated of Walking Dead.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 20-21)
Honestly, I don't know.
Re: 'Quake 6' Was Teased At Xbox Developer Direct, And We Didn't Even Spot It
I think we need to be careful, this could easily be a gag "oh no we left super secret projects on the board the one day we had a film crew in"
Re: 'Indiana Jones And The Great Circle' Gameplay Has Landed, And It Looks Awesome
Honestly was expecting a lot more guns considering their other games. Haooy it's a lot of punching and whips.
Should we concerned that MachineGame is real good at making Nazis?
Re: Poll: How Would You Grade The Xbox Developer Direct 2024?
Gonna give it a B, mostly because everything is coming out at the end of the year, and exclusives wise it seems we'll only have Hellblade till that Sep-Dec window.

Re: These Seven Games Are Coming To Xbox Game Pass (January 18 - February 6)
Kinda a light month for me, however considering LaD8 is due and I have Cyberpunk to finish that's probably fine.
Re: Multiple New Xbox Rumours Are Circulating On Social Media This Week
@Kaloudz I liked how 3 balanced the time limits with actually wanting you to play in its play ground.
