Starfield: Shattered Space is almost here! Yep, just about a year on from the Xbox Game Pass launch of Starfield, Bethesda is about to drop the game's first major expansion in just a few hours' time.
So, with the launch looming, we're here to break down absolutely everything you need to know about this new Starfield DLC. From the date itself, to the full release times and what to expect from the expansion - it's all here for you to get stuck into.
Without further ado, here are all the Starfield Shattered Space details you need to know:
Starfield: Shattered Space Xbox Release Date
The Starfield Shattered Space DLC heads to Xbox Series X|S and PC on Monday, September 30th.
Starfield: Shattered Space Xbox Release Times
Looking at the Xbox Store page for Shattered Space here in the UK, the Starfield expansion is set to release at 4pm BST on September 30th.
Over in the US, that'll be 8am PDT / 11am EDT on the morning of September 30th.

Is Shattered Space Included With Xbox Game Pass?
Unfortunately, Starfield Shattered Space is not included with an Xbox Game Pass subscription like the base game is.
Having said that, there is a benefit to purchasing the DLC with an Xbox Game Pass membership. More details on that down below.
Starfield: Shattered Space Expansion Price
Bethesda is pricing Starfield Shattered Space at $29.99 / £29.99, and you can pre-order the DLC right now.
However, if you're an Xbox Game Pass member, you can slash an extra 10% off the above prices. That makes the Xbox Game Pass price $26.99 in the US, and £26.99 in the UK.
Starfield: Shattered Space Premium Edition Upgrade Path
Some of you may be thinking 'didn't I already buy some Starfield DLC? Does that include Shattered Space?' Well, if you bought the Premium Edition of the game, or the Premium Upgrade DLC, then yes - you already have access to Shattered Space!
This upgrade was touted lots around launch because it included early access to the base game, but yep, it also includes access to the game's first big expansion. Here's how Bethesda reminded us of this just a few weeks ago:
"Shattered Space launches on September 30 for Xbox Series X | S and PC. Owners of the Premium or Constellation Editions of Starfield will receive Shattered Space as part of their original purchase. Owners of the base edition can still purchase the Premium Upgrade for access to Shattered Space plus other digital items including the Digital Art Book, Original Soundtrack, 1,000 Creation Credits, and the Constellation Skin pack."
Starfield Shattered Space: What To Expect From The DLC

In recent weeks, Bethesda has done a few deep dives on its Shattered Space expansion and what players can expect from the DLC pack. To sum those up, the team is this time focusing on a "fully handcrafted location" in Shattered Space, also delivering what sounds like a darker main storyline than the base game.
"House Va’ruun is on the brink of collapse and their people need help finding a path forward. When your sudden presence on their hidden home planet is seen by some as divine intervention, it’s up to you to restore House Va’ruun and decide the fate of this secretive faction."
How To Begin The Shattered Space DLC In Starfield
To actually get started with Shattered Space, you'll need to have completed the first mission of Starfield's first main quest, known as One Small Step. Bethesda recommends that you wait until you're level 35 before beginning the DLC.
"After you’ve completed One Small Step, the first time players grav-jump to an orbit that is not used by a mission or encounter, they will receive a distress call and discover a large star station, The Oracle."
Well, there you have it. Starfield Shattered Space is almost here, and we hope this guide has given you some useful info on what to expect from the big Bethesda DLC. Into the starfield once again, space explorers!

Just playing Starfield now to brush up on the buttons etc ready for DLC which I got through the early access, which at the time I thought was daft, but not now of course as this is included in the price.
Is this the only DLC they'll be doing for the game, @Kezelpaso?
@Fiendish-Beaver We're getting at least one more

I'm yet to start the game, @OldGamer999. I actually bought the Collector's Edition of the game (the one with the watch), but haven't started it as yet. Been way too busy playing Baldur's Gate 3, which I have now played for over 1250 hours!
I'll probably jump into Starfield once the game is complete, so I'll wait for the next DLC too so as to hit everything at once. I find it difficult to return to a game for its DLC unless I start right from the beginning, and with a game as big as Starfield, that's not something I really want to be doing...
Thank you, @FraserG. I'll have to wait a little longer before starting the game then... 😂
Since getting a ROG Ally X, I've finally able to get into Starfield. I don't get a lot of TV time with a young kid, so being able to consistently play was near impossible. But now, I can play some before I go to sleep, and early weekends I can play on the Series X.
I don't know if I'll jump right into the DLC upon completion of the base game, but I'm enjoying it enough to go back to it in the future.
I picked the game up for dirt cheap on disc, and got the premium thing for like $15 at Walmart.
Been holding off on playing for a while. Might when this releases.
@Fiendish-Beaver for your sake then, let's hope Todd doesn't keep releasing updates for 10 years, which he had mentioned before!
I really can't wait for this, it's the first Bethesda game I've bought at release and been playing as DLC was released. Absolutely love the game!
@OldGamer999 yeah me to , I put 120hrs into this at launch, I'm not really that excited about this dlc as I was about skyrim back in the day though Im more a fantasy guy though, ill play it though as its free.
@Fiendish-Beaver
It’s easy to get back into, I’m doing ok and remembering it all now and looking forward to the DLC in the 30th.
Not had any update or download for it yet though.
Unless it’s already there and we don’t know it.
@Shalooda
I like both space and fantasy, though fantasy normally had better locations.
Guess you will be looking forward to Avowed then?
I've searched high and low for answers but no luck.
Does anyone know what the requirements are to start the expansion? Story progression? Level? Etc etc
With no review codes pre launch there seems to be no way of finding out 🤔
@LocalPenguin This has literally just been revealed, and here's the answer (guide will be updated shortly):
"To start playing the Shattered Space expansion, players must complete the introductory mission of the main quest, One Small Step. After you’ve completed One Small Step, the first time players grav-jump to an orbit that is not used by a mission or encounter, they will receive a distress call and discover a large star station, The Oracle.
Any player can take on the challenge in Shattered Space, but reaching level 35 is recommended for the best experience."
Wish I could be excited about this don't think I'll jump back on this game till near this generations end
This expansion looks really good. I am very excited that the whole DLC takes place in a single system. Seems more handcrafted and I also like the spooky vibes.
@FraserG Oh you absolute legend! Thanks Fraser 👍
This is perfect! I got next week off and nothing to do. Now I do!!!
I've already got it paid for! Looking forward to diving back into Starfield after a year of updates and the expansion!
@OldGamer999 hmm, I dunno about avowed looks a bit janky , ill play it regardless though
I don't often buy dlc so maybe I'm out of the loop.
Do companies not usually give early access for DLC reviews?
I re-downloaded it so I could get the new rover stuck on top of a building in preparation, but I'm waiting to hear dlc impressions. I don't have much faith in Bethesda anymore
On my 4th play through to get ready, and it’s glitching so bad. Can’t do a Ryujin quest cause some NPC I need to kill is buried in the map. Hope some of these get patched. 🤞
I’ve completed the game and done everything like side missions etc so I will want to play this dlc at some point but at £29.99 for one location and a new storyline that will probably only take a few hours to finish, I’m not sure I’d want to pay that much for it. I’ll wait and see how it fares when it releases and may just wait for it to be on sale.
Good point, @Dimey! 😂
Downloaded the 10.1mb expansion key last night.
So might be ready to when I get home from work.
I wonder if the DLC will come with more achievements.
@BIG3 it does, some of them (find 50 POI) have been triggering by mistake for people already!!
I actually forgot this was coming out today, I managed to get a really cheap key so looking forward to it.
Managed to panel-beat my current playthrough into resembling my original one. I suspect Andreja's personal quest is going to have hooks into this (like how Nick had a connection to Far Harbor)
@Dimey Awesome. Thanks for the info!
@TerryTrowbridge I've been trying to start the first bounty for the Trackers Alliance since it has been out but can't find the guy anywhere in Akila City. But I haven't had any problems with Shattered Space.
@BleedingDreamer they finally fixed it and I was able to find my hit! Shattered space was fun!
