@Rangers420 @Ricky-Spanish I bought the upgrade for Gamepass before the game come out, I haven't got a key yet either. I know some who got their keys though.
Maybe we're right at the bottom of the list for "reasons"
1. This push means nothing whilst you can only use an non-console Xbox as an Xbox with the premium Ultimate Sub.
2. Was that supposed to be reassuring?
Concern: addressing the lack of growth in Xbox sales by removing the reasons to buy an Xbox is a death spiral for the consoles, a spiral that threatens the digital libraries we built across three generations of consoles (remember the big deal they made off forward compatibility.)
Spencer: but we can make money.
(Yes, they keep saying they plan on more consoles but they change plan every 6 months.)
@TheEstablishment They'll need to prove that before I spend any more in the Xbox console ecosystem. An Xbox layer on Windows seems doable, we did see someone doing that with X1 not long ago.
I'm looking forward to this, I like what they are doing with the quest design but I do suspect a lot of people are going to roll into this expecting it to hold their hand and bouncing off it.
@Jenkinss Baring some major twist, I'm gonna be PC+Nintendo going forward. No point in investing in my Xbox console Libary anymore.
@pepsilover2008 That's pretty much my fear. We've already gotten a taste of Sony "not needing to compete" with the Pro pricing, and if Xbox as a console keeps fizzingly away it won't be long before they're back to trying to gouge devs and gamers again. We gamers NEED the competition.
@B_Lindz True, though I'd probably go for one of the open handhelds, seems like a lateral move to go from being limited to one library (Xbox) to another (SteamDeck Certified). So if I got the Ally or Go (much more expensive granted) I'd get access to part of my XB library, GP if I want it, my GoG titles, along with all the freebies I've gotten from Prime and Epic, and Steam.
Getting gamepass on other platforms is only possible from a position of strength. A "You need our games, our games are only sold where gamepass is avaliable" sort of thing.
Right now it's the other way, Xbox (seemingly) needs their games on PS/Nintendo/Steam.
@Deljo @Ricky-Spanish yeah. Whilst I like the idea of a system agnostic future, this isn't how you do it. Sony doesn't need to engage in this and let Xbox death spiral itself.
Well we wanted clarity, we got it. Crappy news that I'm sure will do wonders for Xbox hardware numbers.
Won't be buying more games on Xbox, looks like I'll be PC+Switch2 next gen. Will already seen Sony reaction with Pro pricing, so might as well buy a decent PC instead.
I hope they patch the abilty to chose to have the "beard mask" or not. I get that it's supposed to stop clipping but is annoying my character can't show of Tavinter 'stache and wear a hat, or display my fine dwarf beard with a open face helm.
I like the game but the f2p nature bothers me so much I wont play it. Let me pay for the game with a fair roster and then I'll buy a character pass, and maybe even costume DLC.
Right now this game is getting £0.00 off me, give it a paid release and I'd pay £40-70 off me (depending on the included content).
Doesn't seem to have the final mission bug, though it seems the Zealots Overach bug in the notes seems to be "same problem" so maybe it is fixed (probably not)
I'm 19 hours in and loving it so far. I'm impressed with the level design. I was worried the more linear approach would mean there would be less to do but so far, so good. (also with how amazing the other nations look, they make Ferelden look like the backwater it's supposed to be)
I'm enjoying all the companions and their stories so far, which makes me miss having the four-person party even more.
I love that I was able to further define my character beyond the creation options, like how my character feels about his tattoos or how he feels about his backstory. Many RPGs don't do that even if they let you pick a backstory/origin.
I do miss having control of my party (and the stuff that comes with that like inventory and equipment management) but I do like the actual moment-to-moment combat that's on offer (It'd be cool to have both the tactical party control AND having the gameplay actually feel good).
@Elbow @Balaam_ Considering how... aggressive CoD development is I wouldn't be surprised if it wouldn't be a few years before there could be any meaningful changes. No idea if any changes will actually happen, Corpo Daddy MS wants its 69 billion back with interest.
@Ryu_Niiyama It apparently EA best "day one" on steam beating Jedi Survivor. Friend reports its "topping" the PS Store charts, so seems to be doing well enough there.
Seem to recall the director before launch saying it wasn't going to have DLC because he felt the Trespasser DLC for 3 "should have been part of the base game"
Leaving the planet could give them the freedom to do more.
I'm looking forward to E-Day but it would have been better to wrap up the current arc before doing something else.
E-Day feels like the sort of project that could have existed along side Gears 6. One of those "we took the last game and used it as a base" things. I think with ballooning budgets and extended dev time that sort of thing could help the wait between main entries.
I know obsidian will deliver choice, i have zero doubts about that.
Deloverong a living world that reacts to said choices and not saved for the final mission falvour and text on picture endings or a world that doesn't actively punish exploration that I am less convinced about.
The world being segmented hopefully address my personal complaints
Been waiting for this, can't wait. I think when we got the very first trailer I said something along the lines of "probably the closest thing to dogma 2".
@Titntin not saying its true but I can see the logic of not promoting it. It pushes an useful narrative that even without a deal Xbox struggles with third parties because of weaker hardware, and look at that Sony have even more powerful hardware coming.
@PsBoxSwitchOwner I don't think it's actually linked to their other game, it "just so happens" to have a similar naming convention lol
Super excited for this, I suspect it's whole "doesn't have enough quests, it has leads" thing is going tovdivide players but I'm very much here for that.
Honestly after seeing clips of invisible walls blocking perfectly normal looking terrain I've cooled a lot on the game. So I'll wait till I see a decent sale.
Man, this feels like peering into a weird alternative reality.
Apex Legends exists because Respawn decided partway through development Titanfall 3 needed a new engine and devs playing around with the parts of the now-dead TF3 made a little Battle Royale game.
Oh, look the deal cost even more money. checks notes hopefully this is the last "Xbox-Activision court case" news, feels like we should have a party.
I like the (probably fictional) idea the "gamers" saw Microsoft's "exclusives policy" and decided "you're actually doing more than we were trying to force you to do" and dropped the case.
Traditional comment about "I have a 1440 screen, can I drop the resolution and keeps some graphical nice ness at 60fps" aside
@JoyfulFire @themightyant There is a weird effort to paint this game as terrible. I've come across people trying to turn the fact it doesn't have spiders into some sort of outrage. I'm a huge fan of the series and I probably wouldn't have noticed there weren't any spider enemies until someone pointed it out.
We have barely seen anything added to Gamepass, we haven't seen any of the "course corrections" we were hoping for (saving talented studios from the CoD mines), Xbox first-party releases haven't increased and in exchange, the act of buying Activision seems to have broken Xbox.
-They spent a year+ in courts talking about how bad Xbox is and how it can only ever compete by absorbing a large publisher. Demolishing consumer confidence and tanking sales
They overextended on staff and then laid off developers and shuttering studios. I'd much rather keep the two lost Bethesda studios than what we've gotten so far from Activision. Corporate daddy Microsoft wants that 79 billion+ back and now Xbox is doing silly things like abandoning exclusives... the whole point of buying Bethesda and Activision in the first place.
The whole point was to sure up Xbox against Sony and it's done the opposite. We went from "you need Xbox or Gamepass to play this games" to "eh you can get 'em on the PS5 you already have"
I want to be to excited for it. It has a cool look and it's Rare but with abosultely nothing to go on. this could easily be a Viva Pinate successor or some grand adventure...
1) be very profitable for Microsoft. 2) The end of Xbox as a console, even if MS claimed otherwise.

Kinda surprised it's happening, now, 10 years later.
But man am I down for more. I was lucky the game's random nature gave me a "just right" experience (My brother struggled because it always seemed to be there harassing him, no time to build anticipation)
Dont get me wrong, this is hopefully good news and Im delighted "multiple" projects are coming...
However it bothers me that this means there nothing new from Halo for this gen. Its wild to me that fans can make things like a Helldivers clone in Forge and 343... sorry "Halo Studios"... needs to shift to an entirely new engine before getting anything else for X/S

Re: Talking Point: What Have You Bought In The Xbox Black Friday Sale So Far?
Lots of stuff I want, some stuff I would have bought, but I'm not comfortable buying Xbox digital anymore.
Re: Xbox Introduces 'Stream Your Own Game' Feature With 50 Titles Supported At Launch
What a weird selection of titles.
Kinda surprised to see WWE on there with all the custom content and all. Guess they store that in the cloud data now.

Re: Phil Spencer Explains Why 'This Is An Xbox' Will Be Beneficial To Console Owners
@CallMeDuraSouka I love the actual series X console and I love playing on it, where ever possible I bought games for the Series X.
With the way Sony is pricing the Pro, I'm might as well go PC.
Re: Phil Spencer Explains Why 'This Is An Xbox' Will Be Beneficial To Console Owners
@JokerBoy322 it's already stopped me buying games on Xbox, it's a gamepass machine now.
I can't justify adding to my Xbox digital library. Hope something changes and I can return to it (My PC really isn't happy about this lol)

Oof.
I think witcher 3 had a similar bug on X1 where if you didn't close the game fully before going into standby you couldn't save

Re: Talking Point: How Do You Feel About Xbox's ActiBlizz Deal One Year On?
So far, bad. Really bad

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 12-13)
Solo Starfield DLC and Baldur's Gate 3 (its just not grabbing me, I think it threw the companions at me to quickly).
Coop: replaying the gears series, we're part way through 3.
VR: Zero Calibur 2.
Re: Report: Xbox Will 'Refresh' Its Official Wireless Headset Later This Month
Its a great headset that competes well with other more expensive options...
That said didn't think I'd miss the days they would use a design change (even a colour) in the refresh to hide a price rise.
It's wild to me that at a time when Xbox consumers are demoralised they are apprently just changing the box of an accessory to ask for more money.
Obivously if it ends up doing anything different, disrguard the tangent
Re: Starfield Design Director Defends Shattered Space DLC After Mixed Reviews

Re: Talking Point: Does Xbox's 'New Dawn' For Halo Mean The Series Will Come To PS5?
I think Halo on PS5/6 (without gamepass) would
1) be very profitable for Microsoft.

It doesn't matter if they only plan on releasing it to "prime" Sony users for the next main entry which will be exclusive it will se the precedent that all the games will come.
