Re: Bethesda Introduces Its 'Isolated, Handcrafted World' In New Starfield: Shattered Space Deep Dive

abe_hikura

I'm very excited about this, can't wait to play it but the whole "decide the fate" thing feels... off.

Because barring any amazing plot twists, that fate will only last until my next jump through the unity. Spent the last week sorta rebuilding my first playthrough ATM.

Note: I like the whole NG+ is part of the narrative thing, do wish they'd add more universes and some kind of randomiser (even if it's just gear) but, as I suspect the point is, my connection to the world of Starfield is lessened with each jump.

Re: Rumour: Microsoft Employees 'Completely Confused' About New Xbox Strategy, Says Insider

abe_hikura

It seems like Microsoft used to leave Xbox alone to do whatever (what's the occasional 7 billion to MS) but when they bought Activision (plus all that fighting in the courts) changed that. You don't get to spend 69+ billion of your "business dad's" cash and not have him looking over your shoulder.

All the stuff that's been going on since is much more in Microsoft's usual business practices and not the direction Xbox has been going in over the last decade.

Re: Xbox Has Begun Including Handhelds In Promotional Images

abe_hikura

Said it b3fore an Xbox handheld has to be able to play Xbox games natively.

The market doesn't need yet another PC handheld let alone one that's sole USP is that it has an Xbox logo. There will be better and cheaper handheld PCs, playo g your existing g Xbox library is the one thing they can do that other companies can't.

(Ideally it'd be a dual boot device)

Re: Reaction: PS5 Pro's Extortionate Price Justifies Xbox's Lack Of A New Console

abe_hikura

@GeeForce Maybe but I see a couple of potential issues

1: Sony can then ensure the PS6 is better than the Xbox Next. Just make every spec that little higher and the only counters are let them (in which case why rush out the Next?) or do an early mid-gen upgrade (leaving both to leapfrog each other).
2: With the PS5 being so dominant this gen, third parties (and Xbox apparently) won't launch games that are "next-gen only" and ensure the PS5 gets the same games as Xbox Next) so customers won't need an Xbox to play them.

Re: Sony's PS5 Pro Seems Unlikely To Get An Xbox Equivalent This Holiday

abe_hikura

Sony exec 1: Sales aren't going as well. Either between the earlier Xbox successes or the general cost of living we're just not seeing any growth.

Sony exec 2: hey remember when we launched the PS3 for an insane price

Sony exec 1: YES! Let's release an optional upgrade price that is far higher than anything else, and that'll give us the growth we're missing.

Sony exec 2: How about we charge extra for a disc drive and a stand?

Son Exec 1: Marry me

Re: Bethesda Still Hopes That Starfield Will Stick Around As Long As Skyrim

abe_hikura

I'm guessing just how supported it'll be depends on how well the DLC do.

I enjoyed it, I don't see the primary flaw I had being addressed (actually flying to planets) I'll be playing it again this month to get a NG+ ready for the DLC and starting a modded save once that's done.

I completely get why some don't like it but I love it (probably for exact the same reasons lol)

Re: Report: Suicide Squad Dev Rocksteady Suffers Layoffs At Warner Bros. HQ

abe_hikura

@Jenkinss @Dan1283 Problem is the companies know most of their LS games are going to die, it's that gambler mentality as they just need one to stick and start earning that Fortnite money.

Everytime something like Helldivers doesn't shrivel up in a few months after launch they think theirs still a chance for a mega-hit that'll print money for the next 15 years.

Re: Rumour: Microsoft Reportedly Working On Multiple Transformers Projects

abe_hikura

Considering the other rumour about MS looking to bring Activision Marvel games back for BC/Gamepass it would make sense they try and get Acti's Transformers games too.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are more "MS trying to get [insert Activision licenced game]" rumours pop up.

EDIT: Forgot Activision published Simpson Hit and Run, so that needs to happen.

Re: Xbox Series X And S Tech Specs Revealed For Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2

abe_hikura

@Neither_scene agreed. I wanted a new monitor as I couldn't keep stealing my PC one, and took a pint on a 1440 VRR one and it's been fantastic. More and more games have actually settings for 1440 (high five to the one good thing from Fallout 4's next gen update)
but most games end up gutting the graphics instead of resolution. Leaving us with uglier games in crystal clear 4k lol

Re: Capcom Fighting Collection 2 Not Announced For Xbox, But Don't Lose Hope Yet

abe_hikura

Yeah I don't believe Microsoft is all too bothered. "But games skipping Xbox is bad for consoles" true but so is dropping exclusives. I refuse to believe "classic capcom games skip Xbox" dose more damage than "Xbox first party games coming to PS5"

@Decoy_Snake I suspect its "the MT issues prevents an Xbox version" and more "it cost more to port these games to Xbox than they earn because of the MT issue"

Re: Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake Tech Specs & Frame Rate Revealed For Xbox

abe_hikura

I do like the options 'seems' to be just reducing the frame rate to hit 60fps. (I have a 1440p monitor)

I dislike that most performance modes are turning off most of the graphical effects. I bought a series X I want the games to look better than on my One X. Note: I'm not saying graphics are more important, I would just like the option of reduces res not graphics to get the those extra frames.

Re: Reaction: Indiana Jones And The Great Circle's PS5 Announcement Marks A Bold Step For Xbox

abe_hikura

This is a great move for Microsoft, terrible move for Xbox. Confirming a PS5 release before the game is even out creates the expectation that if you don't have an Xbox and if there's an Xbox game you want to play... just wait.

And gamers are happy to wait for sales and possible GP/PSN+ releases, so waiting so they don't have to drop cash on a different consoles is going to be easy.

As I noted the other day. I fully support a platform agnostic future, but being the only company offering up its first party games ISNT that.
