Better Xcloud app is the way to go but Xcloud itself is chuffing awful. It’s inexcusable that Microsoft haven’t improved the performance from day one, it really is. It’s all well and good having them available on cloud, but the performance needs to be better. Has to be better.
It’s been a year and the total lack of content is pathetic to be honest. I get that it was going to take time, but one year later and we are not really seeing much at all. Okay, so we get another COD soon but we were promised back catalogue games and the amount we have seen is terrible.
I just feel that this is a yet another promise made by Xbox that is turning out to be a falsehood and a lie.
Maybe that will change soon - it needs to because so far, for gamers at least, it feels like it was all for profit and not for gamers benefits.
Shattered space is great. Bugs are being cleaned up quickly. The main game is superb and I still believe that the wider media stopped Starfield being a GOTY contender. For me it was up there and is still one of the best space based games I ever played.
It’s like space - huge, vast. Sometimes it looks bland but then we know space can look bland as well!
Too many jumped on the anti Xbox bandwagon with this game and DLC - I am not referring to PXB here - and it’s such a shame because Starfield is brilliant and should have been lauded much more.
But then it’s all about opinions and it would be dull if we all agreed all of the time.
Playing Starfield - and not the expansion. The fact the game is so massive and has so much to do all of the time means it remains my best game of 2023 and still it 2024 as well.
Space is massive! Thats the whole point and Bethesda have nailed it. I really don’t get some, in fact any of the hate this games gets.
@andrewsqual It’s all about opinions. The 5’s and 8’s and 10’s are all based on opinion. At the end of the day, reviews are only a guide and ultimately the only opinion that matters is that of you when you play a game.
If a site gives a 3 out of 10 but you enjoy it still, it doesn’t make the site right or you wrong. It just means that your opinions and expectations differ.
@Dimey I think 8 is perfectly reasonable. Some of the buggy bits have been fixed so whatever the reviews by others were done were or after I don’t know but it’s all about opinion at be end of the day and if would be dull if they all gave the same scores.
But personally I think 8 is more reflective overall
I think 5 is really harsh. The main game is, for me, one of the best space games ever made and is a massive world. I think the DLC just adds even more to explore and to so. I don’t actually see much difference between this and many brilliant Bethesda games that have gone before yet this gets so much harsh treatment and I’ve still yet to work out why.
Totally agree with you @kezelpaso The Series X is already powerful enough and tbh, I want great games more than great power. I’m hoping the next Xbox is hybrid with a handheld.
That would have me very happy although I use the Logitech G Cloud all the time as my Xbox handheld and that’s a device that doesn’t get enough love. It’s one of best bit of kit for my gaming I’ve bought in recent years.
@GamingFan4Lyf sadly Xbox is dying as a brand. Hardware will end soon enough and it’s such a shame that this has been allowed to happen. Spencer , Bond and Booty are just terrible at what they do.
Xbox do need to make things clearer for everyone. You can’t go a week these days without the strategy flip flopping from one thing to the next. Right now, the PS5 Pro reveal has given MS a chance at a free hit - either a native handheld at a price to make it essential, or the next Xbox is a PC/Console hybrid with Steam access at £600 and they then have a chance to really succeed.
Whether MS truly want Xbox to succeed in terms of hardware will ultimately dictate if any of this comes to pass but right now, Xbox has the chance to bury one in the back of the net.
GPU by some way. I’m surprised anyone who loves gaming does not have GPU. So many games. I know some question it but I think it offers a great way to game and experience many different genres and titles. And for me, that’s worth every penny I spend on it.
In Poland on holiday but still playing Black Ops Beta on Xbox via remote play and it’s great! Playing on my Logitech G Cloud - my favourite bit of kit these days for my Xbox gaming on the go.
Such massive world and a huge game. I’ve started playing again from the start as tbh I found myself a bit lost! But I really enjoy it and think it’s one of the most underrated games of the current generation.
So much to explore, great characters, guns, combats.
If this game had say the Star Wars name attached, it would have got higher scores and if it had released on PlayStation , it would have scored 9’s across the board.
To be fair it is going to change more and more. I actually think hybrid PC’s will be a huge part of gaming future now.
I still feel he could say more about the specifics of Xbox hardware though as they do deserve some loyalty in return but I gutted loyalty is rarely two ways these days.
Nintendo will never for multi platform. I just can’t see a need for them to do so, although o do think they will struggle to sell the Switch 2 up against handheld PC’s. It’s USP is dwindling now so it’s gonna be a much harder sell this time around.
Xbox is essentially trying to put the pressure on Sony to make their games available on other platforms as well. Phil Spencer wants to be seen as the guy who made gaming available to everyone but he’s doing it for his ego not for gaming.
I suspect that the next gen Xbox we heard about from Sarah Bond will be canned fairly soon as well. Now that Phil has given the full direction of Xbox being to go fully multi platform, it doesn’t matter how powerful whatever she was talking about might be, because it will be pointless now.
I don’t think the announcement about it being canned will be all that far away either.
What Spencer, Booty , Greenberg and Bond don’t get is that 3rd parties will slowly stop putting games into Xbox. Why would they if Xbox are taking away any reason to own one? They may as well put their games on PC and PlayStation 5 only where they know they will generate income. Some may put games on Game Pass but only if get can get the right price.
Phil Spencer isn’t making any decisions though, let’s be honest here. Hes not running a business. He is not even a leader. He is a puppet now. And a pretty poor one at that.
@themightyant The issue is that games will go onto PS5 Pro, PS6 so others will bet better versions of supposed Xbox exclusives. Thats the issue I have with it all.
Some great games but let’s be honest ……. Indy won’t be the last PS5 game at Gamescom from Xbox will it??? I wouldn’t be surprised if 2 or 3 more are announced before the week is out.

Diving back into some Trackmania to get some better times.

Why only in the USA though?

Re: Off The Grid: Xbox Release Date Details, And How To Get Early Access On Series X
It’s just another game that’s the same as so many others. It’s okay but it’s not brilliant and performance is ropey at best
Re: Talking Point: Does Xbox's 'New Dawn' For Halo Mean The Series Will Come To PS5?
Quite simply- yes.
Re: Xbox Series X|S Now UK's Second Best-Selling Consoles In 2024 As Nintendo Switch Falls Away
It’s positive news but against an 8 year old console, it’s not mind blowing but with Xbox right now, I will happily take any win!

Re: Xbox Co-Founder Joins Amazon, Says He'll Be Working On 'New Ideas'
Amazon will be going all in on Cloud. Although by having Xcloud on Fire Sticks now, they have killed Luna dead in the water already.
But can see them jumping on the handheld device wagon - maybe a streaming device like the excellent and vastly under appreciated Logitech G Cloud!

How would the Pure Xbox team rate it @FraserG

Re: Xbox Series X|S Console Sales Estimated At Under Half Of PS5 In New Report
TBH, I don’t think that Xbox care or Microsoft. At all. It’s over. Xbox will become Microsoft gaming and that will be that.
I will keep playing Xbox in whatever way I can, whenever I can and I know that Microsoft will make more make more than most gaming publishers.
I just feel sad that they have destroyed Xbox as a hardware company and left fans with memories but also broken dreams.

Hellblade 2. Yes it’s short but visually and from a playability point of view it is one of the most stunning games I have ever played.

Star Wars Outlaws and some more Starfield which I continually dip into

Re: Poll: How Would You Grade Gamescom Opening Night Live 2024?
Overall it was pretty dire. The inability to even read an autocue was just embarrassing from start to finish.
The crowd appeared to be from Madame Tussauds. It was excruciating.
So many games just looked the same. What happened to creativity? It was an absolute yawn fest.
Indy looks amazing though and can’t wait to play that although obviously disappointed it’s going to PS5 and so soon as well.
