Re: EA & BioWare Aren't Making Any DLC For Xbox RPG Dragon Age: The Veilguard

@Vordus You don't need it to come out, no. But when you look at it from outside the vacuum of yes or no to cancel, it is more sensible to release.

With how far the game was in development, it would be less detrimental to release and get something out of it instead of the bad press of canceling a marquee title.

And is one of the reasons you see it happen over and over in today's industry.

@Ryu_Niiyama And that is perfectly fine. There's nothing wrong with you not wanting DLC for a good game just like there's nothing wrong with me for wanting a good game to have DLC. I'd rather buy a game once and buy a dozen DLCs than to buy multiple releases.

That being said, f they don't release DLC it is because they do not feel the cost of producing it is worth what they'd make back.

At the end of the day that is the only thing that fuels such a decision for a game managed by a board.

@GamingFan4Lyf this does not mean to sound facetious so I apologize if so. What generation was this? Only time that really ever applied was pre internet games.

Once we got to early internet days, they definitely were expected.

The amount of begging for them on message boards when the likes of say Diablo or Warcraft dropped was wild.

I was personally part of a huge forum on requests for the rumored Warcraft 3 expansion that eventually turned into 2003's The Frozen Throne.

When Morrowind came out, despite no prior Elder Scrolls having DLC, expansions were one of the most pined for things.

Few things were more exciting when the latest RPG or RTS dropped with their "battle chest" that included all DLC and often a strategy guide. And sometimes other goodies.

@Ryu_Niiyama

Thanking fans is general PR. Most developers do. Even those of the ill-fated Concorde. So that's hardly a metric to go by

Witcher 3 told a complete story and still had DLC. The DLC was harolded as better than the base game itself. As was Phantom Liberty, but the bas egame had a washboard of issues, so we'll ignore that one lol. The original Dragon Age did as well. So unfortunately cannot agree on this point.

If a game does well, a developers supports it. They don't abandon it.

And I don't know about you, but if a game is good and I like it, I definitely want more. Not to be told, sorry no DLC. But at least they had the decency to let people down at the beginning unlike Spiderman.

Re: Phasmophobia Frame Rate Targets Revealed, Xbox Series X The Only Console To Hit 120FPS

What weird is PSVR2 is running at 60FPS and it is rendering the game twice. Once for each eye.

So how isn't the PS5 capable of 120 on it? All I can figure is meow beautifying effects then have turned on for the non VR version.

That said, this is a slow paced game. The place 120fps would have been important is the PSVR2 side to smooth jerky movements when you inevitably get spooked in game.

Re: Ubisoft's Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown Team Reportedly 'Disbanded'

InterceptorAlpha

I know I personally skipped it because I wanted more 3D Prince of Persia.

Like Ninja Gaiden, the OG's are fantastic. But the 3D generation of them was just damn fine that I don't really have any interest in any PoP games that aren't similar.

@Kloppo I want a new one. But with how bad they botched Conviction and Blacklist, I don't know I want another Splinter Cell unless the IP changes hands.

Last thing I want is for them to do to it what they did to Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon.

Re: Poll: Are You Still Buying Starfield Shattered Space After The Early Reviews?

InterceptorAlpha

Already have it.

Seems like Dead Money from New Vegas in space and I'm here for it.

And this is coming from one that played Dead Money for the first time this year. Though that extends to all of New Vegas, if we wanna be technical.

@Bionic-Spencer
And that's to say nothing of Oblivion which set the future of all Bethesda games. Reducing TES to mind numbing simplicity both in plot and gameplay. This continued into Fallout 3, as well as Skyrim.

It is honestly insulting to TES how they handedled both Mehrunes Dagon and Alduin despite how big of deals they were prior. And don't even get me started on the borderline insulting writing of the Skyrim Civil War which was written with all the nuance of a 12 year old.

@Sifi Are you referring the scre that matters on metacritic, user score, which shows or 7.2 vs 1.7?

Or are you talking about the critics score, that only has 4 reviews for Shattered space while Concord has over 10x the reviews at 46?

Seems like a fairly disingenuous comment.

And this is from someone that is well known for pointing out Xbox's faults. Much to the chagrin of some here.

@NEStalgia Honestly sad to see. That Xbox edition Quest still confused me. I guess if you want black like the old Rifts.
To gh I guess had it been out when I got mine, I would have opted for the back version too.

The leg up they could have by providing native support for a wireless HMD would at least be nice.

I will say though, I use Virtual Desktop a lot to play 2D steam games like Foxhole on a movie theater screen. I've found myself using it over my 1440p/144hz monitor. 😬
