Re: Reaction: PS5 Pro's Extortionate Price Justifies Xbox's Lack Of A New Console

InterceptorAlpha

@Mustoe Be more disingenuous why don't you.

That "20%" is 23 million consoles.

To put that in perspective, that mid gen console outsold the lifetime of the WiiU. And is correctly at ~50% of what the Series S/X have sold, combined.

That is bad how, exactly? Especially for being the first mid-gen refresh.

Now let's look further though. Even assuming that the One X did 20% as well, that would have put the One X at roughly 12 million. ~50% less than the PS4Pro.

Re: Hogwarts Legacy Sequel A 'Big Priority' For Warner Bros In The Next Few Years

InterceptorAlpha

@InheritNegative Oh of course.

Seeing how WB is ran, you KNOW their takeaway was "Huh, DC doesn't sell. Guess we'll do a Harry Potter Live Service instead."

Thsy being said, I wouldn't be opposed to like how Kakarot does it.

Kakarot is single player. Came out in 2020, and has had DLC out as recently as February of this year. Preferably without the horrendous Xbox support though. Achievements still broke on the Series S/X version.

Re: Dune: Awakening's Xbox Series S Port Will Be 'A Challenge', Says Funcom

InterceptorAlpha

@DarkCvrle Okay, so let's use the steam deck for example. What game runs better there than the Series S? You won't be able to name one. I promise you.

Steam Deck is a platform of compromise and so times pushes what the definition of "running it" means. Half your frames are muddled by FSR and frame gen.

@WhiteRabbit Yea. I enjoy Xbox. Clearly, I have two launch day Series Xs. But I'm not going to ignore facts looking at me square in the face.

Some see comments like these this as an attack on the S. Xbox has many issues as a whole I'm not just hating on it at all. It is just the topic at hand.

Re: Dune: Awakening's Xbox Series S Port Will Be 'A Challenge', Says Funcom

InterceptorAlpha

@DarkCvrle What game runs on a low end PC, and provide the specific PC build please, that has had issues on the Series S exactly? I mean, one of my PC's from nearly a decade ago has 32GB of dedicated system RAM, but the Series S has 10GB of RAM, and that is a shared pool? 🤔

Additionally your information about the Series X VS S seems like out of date, pre-release information, so here you go:

CPU:
Series X- 8cores at 3.8ghz
Series S- 8cores at 3.6ghz
The S is 5.3% slower.

GPU:
Series X- 12.15 Teraflops
Series S- 4 Teraflops
The S is 67% slower.

Series X: 52 CUs
Series S: 20 CUs
Series S has 62% less CUs

RAM:
Series X- 16GB
Series S- 10GB
The S has 37.5% less RAM.

RAM speed.
Series X- 10GB at 560 GB/s, 6GB at 360 GB/s
Series S- 8GB at 224 GB/s, 2GB at 56 GB/s.

Series S has 60% slower high speed RAM.
Series S has 84% slower low speed RAM.

Re: Dune: Awakening's Xbox Series S Port Will Be 'A Challenge', Says Funcom

InterceptorAlpha

@DarkCvrle You're not going to see huge publishers, or the developers owned by said publishers, complain because I am sure they're contracts include a "no disparaging" clause. On top of that, they have infinitely more resources available.

You WILL see smaller studios complain because

1. They're not beholden to those contracts.
2. Microsoft has a history of stiffing the smaller studios.
3. This recent string of Microsoft just flat out ignoring smaller developers is likely further evidence of Microsoft leaving the console market in the next Gen. After all, no need to help people publish to your hardware, especially smaller developers you'll see little to no money from, if you're planning on leaving the market.

Re: Final Fantasy Dev Insists The Future Is Bright For Square Enix Games On Xbox

InterceptorAlpha

@BlueSheepz Strange. You must be either too young to remember or just have a poor memory.

SE's increasing support was a huge part of Xbox 360 prerelease, and even post release. All that resulted in was a couple mediocre launch windows games, then nothing of substance until they started doing multiplat, day an date releases. During that drought, however, they were publishing ganes for Nintendo and Sony still.

Once again during the Xbox One's life. And what was gotten from that? Some PS1 ports, the card game, and 15, a game that did so poorly half the story, that was supposed to be told through DLC, was cut.

Now here we are, at the third time. Will it be the charm? I doubt it. But we'll see.

Re: Rumour: Black Myth: Wukong 'Memory Leak' Has Caused Xbox Series X|S Delay

InterceptorAlpha

So likely another Series S issue. The X/S certification is a process that involves both. If one version fails they're both failed due to the same reason because of the parity clause.

The Series S has significantly slower RAM, with one portion being 60% slower and the other being 84% slower than the X. Additionally the Series S has 37.5% less RAM. All of which exacerbates these RAM issues we hear about.

We already know it is a fairly intense UE5 game. So this really comes as no surprise. Even the bare minimum requirements seek 16GB of RAM on PC. Which isn't a good sign for a 10GB console that is essentially just a PC nowadays.

Re: Avowed Gets Massive Uncut Gameplay Demo During Xbox's Final Gamescom Event For 2024

InterceptorAlpha

@Vipor007 Almost like alienating your fanbase isn't a good idea. 😂 No point buying an Xbox if you can play all their game elsewhere.

Thankfully I have a PC so I can just play all the Xbox stuff there, at 100+fps, since Microsoft seems incapable of launching 60fps on a console unless it is. On top of that games are cheaper, online is free, mountains of mods, etc. To add insult to injury, while I'm finally building a new one, one of my PC's that are 10 years old is still running circles around modern consoles.

As a matter of fact, I think I'm going to hop into VR, on my VR treadmill, another area Microsoft has completely ignored and told people to bugger off if they wanted. Wanna know what sounds real fun right now Halo VR. Something else I can do on PC, and something Microsoft should have done on Xbox ages ago.

Re: Reaction: Indiana Jones And The Great Circle's PS5 Announcement Marks A Bold Step For Xbox

InterceptorAlpha

@demian Well that's just factually incorrect. And incorrect informarion like this is why people buy consoles.

My last PC I built cost 1.5x a console. And remained running games at higher settings than consoles for 2.5 console generations. It was only at that point that I had to even lower settings. It was only at point that it was old enough to be on par with consoles.

My current build, also about 1.5x a console, is already running games 3-4x better than what console hardware does.

In addition to that, on PC I can use virtual reality to its fullest and even my VR treadmill. Something I cannot do on console either.

Re: Skyrim's Massive 'Skyblivion' Mod Looks Incredible, But It's Apparently Too Big For Xbox

InterceptorAlpha

It is pretty easy to set up. Just follow the set up process for OpenMW, which requires you own Morrowind and have it installed.

After that, you just drag and drop the VR mod into the OpenMW folder and launch the VR shortcut.

As far as launching, I use my Quest 3 as a PCVR headset. I can launch it either through SteamVR via the manually added shortcut. Or I can launch Virtual Desktop and just click the shortcut on the desktop or Steam. VR hooks immediately and it changes to VR mode.

The thing that makes Morrowind better to me is the writing in general, Kirkbride can get weird, and the world. Well as much as I love Skyrim, Morrowind is a lot less generic high fantasy.

Every time I do soemthing as simple as just walk up to a silt strider in the game, I wowed. Like who though "You know, what if people rode giant fleas to get around? Hollow out their backs, and manipulate their nerves to direct them."

They amount of drugs those guys had to have ingested when making Morrowind definitely helped with the end product.

Re: Indiana Jones And The Great Circle 'Story DLC' Confirmed

InterceptorAlpha

@Ricky-Spanish I will. It is just, as with most games I like, or am hyped for, like Kunitsu Gami, I prefer to buy them regardless of of Gamepass.

@BAMozzy I'm strictly speaking hardware, and that should be obvious.

Without hardware competition Sony, and by extension, any business always behaves poorly. We saw that when Sega left the hardware market. Again when they had the advantage with the PS2. Again with the launch of the PS3. And once more still with the PS5.

To add to this, if Microsoft goes software only, they are in no way competing with Sony anymore. That's like saying EA is competing with Sony. You can't say they're competing when every game sold nets Sony money from licensing fees. Which was what, about 30% of a game's puschad cost?

I am not an Xbox customer. I am a video game consumer. I own every platform, and my VR treadmill alone is 3x the costs of consoles. Hell, even my last PC build build, about 1.5 the cost of a console out performed the 2.5 console generation.

I am purely concerned with preserving competition for a healthy market and your response shows you support anything but.

Xbox as hardware has no advantages.
So I'm not sure where you're getting that. You have a fragment ecosystem developers are hesitsnt to work in. You have poor support for indie developers. Everything that drops on Xbox day 1 I can get on my PC. Every game that goes on sale on Xbox I can get cheaper on Steam. I get better performance too, as well free online.

Xbox used to offer tangible benefits, particularly in he exclusives, and even quality online console gaming. However they squandered any advantage they have are are in their current position.

As history has taught us multiple times, when hardware has advantages and no number moving exclusives, they die off, and the market is worse for it.

You're free to feel how you want, however no amount of text will go contrary to historic fact.

Re: Indiana Jones And The Great Circle 'Story DLC' Confirmed

InterceptorAlpha

Only reason I was going to buy this day 1 was on Xbox to support them competing. But if it is just gonna be on everything, I might as well just wait for a steam sale to buy it.

For a physical edition, this is the worst one I've seen since the Starfield one that had a watch that worked for a couple months if you're lucky. Meanwhile my 8 year old, Gear S3, is still going strong.

Couldn't even be bothered to give a physical art book.

Re: Former Xbox Exec Defends Phil Spencer's Recent Decisions As Head Of Xbox

InterceptorAlpha

Okay, sure, they're not running any business I'm interested in though. That's why the last game I recall purchasing from this was Halo 5 Guardians from nearly a decade ago.

And to be clear, that isn't because of Gamepass. I buy tons of third party games that are on Gamepass.

I have zero interest in a console market dominated by a single OEM, read Sony. We've seen how godawful they've been when they've had had sgiinficisnt leads. Going to be insufferable when they have no hardware competition.

The number of people that are too young to remember this are justflat our ignore it are baffling.

Thankfully that's where PC comes in to play.

Re: Starfield's New Land Vehicle Is Out Today, Shattered Space Expansion Arrives Next Month

InterceptorAlpha

@InheritNegative And I whole heatedly disagree. I generally clear all POIs at a landing zone in 15 minutes or less. Again, without a jet pack and I'm saying this as something that has ~300 hours and have visited every planet in the game.

To add, the entire game is designed to where a jetpack isn't even required.

I welcome options for other players. But I personally have no use for them.

Re: Indiana Jones And The Great Circle Hits Xbox This December, And A PS5 Port Is Officially Coming

InterceptorAlpha

All these comments of "more people being able to play is good" are missing the point.

Without exclusives Xbox as hardware dies.

If Xbox as hardware dies, Playstation has no competition.

No competition for Playstation is going to be absolutely horrible. Especially when we've seen how they've behaved in the past just from being ahead of the competition. If there is no competition? RIP consoles games. And before someone mentions Nintendo, they have a totally different market, and even micro-conomy for their games.
