3D platformers were once at the forefront of the gaming industry, and while we've had the odd resurgence like PlayStation's Astro Bot last year, many other mascots have been long-forgotten. Sometimes there are revivals though, and it seems the anthropomorphic gecko Gex will be making a return later this year in the GEX Trilogy.
Limited Run Games previously announced it was reviving the Crystal Dynamics series, and now in an update, it's locked in a Summer 2025 release window for all platforms including the Xbox Series X|S. This collection is powered by the Carbon Engine and includes the original 2D platformer GEX along with the two 3D sequels GEX: Enter the Gecko and GEX 3: Deep Cover Gecko.
"Things are about to get weirder than the 4th of July at Rick James' place! Everyone's favorite tail-whipping, channel-surfing gecko is back in a collection that features all of his best-selling adventures! This Carbon Engine powered collection includes extras and numerous improvements like that bring GEX back into prime time!"
This particular release will also come with the ability to "rewind and save anywhere" and will also feature various other "extras and improvements" such as native widescreen support. Would you be interested in revisiting GEX's platformer past on Xbox? Let us know in the comments.

I've been waiting for this! I loved Gex, though I'm sure it hasn't aged as well as I remember it. Just glad this finally has a release, it's been years since the announcement!
I remember playing this on a demo I got from a magazine CD haha, will be nice to pick up the full collection.
Ah gex I remember being a small little lad playing those as a child in my friends house.
Hopefully the price is right and I'll pick it up!
If this releases in good order, I will be buying to day one on Steam.
I played way too much of it on the PS1
Lol, I was expecting a much cuter voice.
Really enjoyded the first back on the 3do.
I enjoyed these, but I still have the originals. Not about to double-dip unless they got these running in 60fps, which is very unlikely.
Definitely psyched to play these again! Wasn't a fan of the 2D entry, but the two 3D entries were gloriously janky nightmares and I loved them growing up. Can't wait to revisit them and remove all of the zany dialog and movie references.
This is an instant buy for me. I loved Gex on the 3do, brilliant game.
