It's crazy to think that the developer behind Fantasy Life, Yo-kai Watch, Inazuma Eleven, Professor Layton, and even the likes of Ni No Kuni and Dragon Quest VIII has never published a game on Xbox before, but it's been true until now!
Yes, even though Level-5 has had its games published by other companies on Xbox in the past (such as Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch), it's never put one of its self-published titles on the platform - until the upcoming release of FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time, which arrives for Series X and Series S on May 21, 2025.
If Fantasy Life rings a bell to you, it's probably because of the Nintendo 3DS game of the same name which started off the series back in 2012. This new version is described as a "slow-life RPG" where you'll be able to embark upon one of 14 unique lives as you adventure across the open world - either alone or with up to three other players.
It's looking pretty cool to us so far, so we'll throw more details and screenshots for FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time down below, and don't forget to check out the latest trailer for the game at the top of the article.
"Step into this Slow-Life RPG where you can freely switch between 14 unique jobs, so called "Lives," and enjoy a carefree life in a fantasy world. Fish, cook, shape the island to your liking, or team up with friends to battle monsters across the vast world. It's up to you to choose what kind of Life you'll live!"

Glad to see this coming to Steam.
The first was a blast on 3DS.
The game is the successor to True Fantasy Life Online, which was originally slated to be an Xbox exclusive.
Hopefully the first of many. As I can't wait for this. I'd love to be able to play Holy Horror Mansion, Professor Leyton, Deca Police as well on Xbox.
Really glad to see this on Xbox. I wish they’d publish deca police multiplatform as well—I’d buy that one immediately
@xboxjapanfan True Fantasy Live Online and Fantasy Life are 2 completely different IPs
Thats awesome. Glad to see Xbox isn’t dead. This looks fun!
That's amazing news (thanks for the heads-up cragis). Will 1000% be picking this up. There's a wide open space on Xbox for games like this and I'd heavily suggest picking it up if you're even remotely interested in the trailer.
Whatever happened to Re:Legend that was suppose to come to consoles like, years ago?
Edit Love the "slow-life* description 😅
TFLO is the Xbox boomer version of Scalebound, the cancelled 3rd party game we cared about way too much and won't let go of.
@Kaloudz it also looks like level 5 has put some work into the Xbox port. As it includes 4 player online co op. To Steams 3, PS4/5's 2 & Switch's 1.
@darkswabber Director Hino has mentioned in the past that Fantasy Life is a continuation of TFLO's thoughts.
@cragis0001 Eh? Xbox are not only getting a copy, but we're also getting the best version? Assuming everything else has parity?
I can't wait for this game! I'm so glad it's coming to Xbox!
@darkswabber They’re different IPs, but many of the concepts were redeveloped into it. It’s sort of a spiritual connection to the unreleased game.
@Kaloudz looking like it.
@cragis0001 Watched the trailer a million times lol, cant wait for this one. There was another game that came to Xbox (again, from a developer that never bothered with us) called YS Origin, I believe it was called, a few years back. I loved that game.
@Kaloudz hopefully we get more. As I'd love cygames to release Granblue Fantasy on Xbox. As they released Little Noah Scion of paradise at the end of 2023.
@cragis0001 Erm, how the hell did I not know that? Was this even picked up on by media at the time for Xbox? Because that, I'll be downloading within the hour!!!
That's half the issue. It's not so much an Xbox / MS issue, but the media (not here in particular - I mean media as a whole) spend too little time on things like this. I wonder if the news of that game's release got buried by ABK? This is the first I've heard of it and that is right up my street.
@Kaloudz no I agree the whole narrative that Xbox users don't play Japanese games is probably why those announcements get swept under the carpet. Which is a shame as RPGs have always done well on Xbox.
It was mentioned briefly on Pure Xbox. But I get most of the Japanese gaming news through Gematsu. Just like I did Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals. I'd recommend it.
@cragis0001 Gematsu is an amazing source of info (I believe they farm their info from GamesPress - a journo website) but I used to frequent that all the time too. Thanks for letting me know because I'd never have known that released. They should stick a Japanese search filter on the Xbox Store if you ask me.
@Kaloudz or even if they had a release schedule on the Xbox store. Like what most gaming websites have. Maybe in the preorder section which if it isn't available yet you can wishlist it.
But can't wait till Monster Hunter Wilds releases next week then on 21st March you have Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land by Keoi Tecmo.
@cragis0001 Yeah that'd be a neat idea too!! And I know mate, I'm gunna be grabbing that in probably April. Once I'm done with Shadows. Can't believe we're only weeks away!! I loved MHW, more so than Rise, but this new one looks amazing.
I enjoyed Rise but preferred World. So looking forward to Wilds in the next few days. But disappointed in Fables delay but considering the amount of games announced lately I think I'll cope. Nice to see more Asian games announced also both indies & AAA. Hopefully the announcement of Blooper Teams new Konami game is a hint that Silent Hill 2 is coming this year to Xbox. The sequel to Edge of Eternity has been announced Edge of Memories. Ratan looks fantastic also.
