Capcom's Monster Hunter Wilds If Off To A Flying Start On Xbox

Analyst firm Circana has provided some fresh gaming industry figures & statistics this week, and aside from a slow start to the year for Xbox hardware, one thing's for certain - Monster Hunter Wilds is absolutely killing it so far.

Circana rep. Mat Piscatella has been breaking down the top-selling games for both February 2025 and the entire start of the year over on social media - and Capcom's latest is off to a flying start in the US. Monster Hunter Wilds is both the best-selling game of last month and the best-selling game of 2025 so far - in turn more than doubling the amount of money Capcom made at the Monster Hunter Rise launch back in 2021.

Piscatella goes on to say that Wilds was the top-seller on all of the major platforms it launched on in February 2025, including Xbox, while also drawing favourable comparison to another past MH title. Capcom's new release brought in 40% more "month 1 full game sales" than 2018's Monster Hunter: World; in terms of dollars made in the US.

With Wilds' 2025 sales now beating out the likes of Black Ops 6, NBA 2K25 and a bunch of other recently-released sports games, it's safe to say that Capcom's new Monster Hunter title is hitting big with players so far. Given that the company admits that it's in somewhat of a "golden era" at the moment, we're not entirely surprised by how well Monster Hunter Wilds is doing so far.
