Update []: Giant Bomb's Jeff Grubb has chimed in on this rumour to state that according to his sources, these specific details about a version of Titanfall 3 are "not real".
This isn't real. I'm sorry, it's not real.
There is a skunkworks team headed up by Titanfall 1 director Steve Fukuda, he's got a small team over there that is probably messing around with like, games that have titans in them.
Does he have a prototype that has titans in it? I would certainly assume that is a safe thing to think. Now, is that going to get announced in 2025 and released in 2026? No way.
Original Story: Stop us if you've heard this one before! Just a couple of years after Respawn insisted that nothing new was in the works in regards to the Titanfall series, a rumour has begun doing the rounds that Titanfall 3 is apparently in development.
This originated a few days ago with two people on social media - YOROTSUKI and Osvaldatore - and the latter has since shared more details suggesting it's an Unreal Engine 5 project and is "almost complete". Here's a look:
Now, as you'd imagine, there's a lot of questioning going on about the legitimacy of these "leakers", and we're not well-versed in the world of Apex Legends and Titanfall leaks, but apparently they've been right on various occasions before.
I'll be honest... even with what people are saying here, I'm struggling to see how Titanfall 3 could be the real deal. It's always seemed like Respawn has wanted to distance itself from the series since the second game kinda flopped.
What a fantastic surprise it would be though! Titanfall 3 might be releasing in 2026 according to one of these leaks, so if that turns out to be legit, we could playing it in a year's time. That sounds too good to be true, but you never know...

I hope that is legit. I loved first titanfall multiplayer and 2 had great story, multiplayer not as good as 1 though. 3 might bring it all together. Be awesome!
If it is a live service extraction shooter as rumored, we can expect to see EA spool up a subsidiary with Tencent having 25% control.
Titanfall 2 showed what excellence can be achieved with a single player campaign when there's a strong focus for it, so IF TF3 is happening I would like to see even more emphasis on the campaign and not the multiplayer.
Likelyhood is, though, EA will have them chasing Helldivers 2.
Titanfall is a great IP. I'd very much welcome a new release.
Another rumour I expect be rubbish like the oblivion remake?
I never played the first game because multiplayer does not interest me, and there was no campaign. However, I loved the campaign in the second game, having pre-ordered it because I liked what I had seen, though again, I did not engage in the multiplayer component.
So, I would dearly loved their to be a third game, and, if it turns out to be true, I would pre-order it just for the campaign. Here's hoping that not only is the rumour true, but that there is some kind of epic Collector's Edition as well...🤞
Would love a number 3! 2 had such a great campaign
That would be great if it happened I loved the multiplayer on Titanfall especially in the titans and the campaign in Titanfall 2 was just as good as blops6 campaign in the latest cod!
I don't think Respawn has distanced itself from Titanfall; it's widely agreed that EA killed Titanfall 2 by launching it between CoD: Infinite and Battlefield. Respawn making Titanfall 3 (and realising the engine wasn't up to it) is how they ended up with Apex Legends.
I think it's more than they got busy. Apex took off in an insane way, and they got the chance to make a Star Wars game
Titanfall 2 is still the best shooter campaign I've ever played and the multiplayer was awesome... please make this true!
@Fiendish-Beaver
The campaign in 2 was excellent, however I actually found the Titan moments to be the weakest part. Everything else, though, was exceptional.
Really hope this is true and not just for MP. I would love a sequel to the phenomenal campaign in Titanfall 2.
It seemed too good to be true, and apparently it is - at least according to Jeff Grubb of Giant Bomb. Article has been updated, and here's a bit of his quote from YouTube today:
"This isn't real. I'm sorry, it's not real.
There is a skunkworks team headed up by Titanfall 1 director Steve Fukuda, he's got a small team over there that is probably messing around with like, games that have titans in them.

I do find the symmetry of the idea that Titanfall 3 is a Skunkworks project in the shadow of the larger work on Apex Legends (and Jedi) appealing, as that's how Apex itself came to be.
@FraserG But.... if Grubb is wrong most of the time...
Then maybe it's real?.... Or this a terrible instance where he's actually right
@CallMeDuraSouka I think we're sticking buttered toast on the back of a cat here.
Ah yes jeff the windwaker and twilight princess ports are real grubb. Why is he relevant? Guys I can make unsubstantiated rumours too. Did you know that gta 6 will come to switch 2? See? Not that hard..... ok you got me i really really dont like mr grubby.
@abe_hikura
I'll take those odds
The campaign in 2 was just ok imo. Interaction with the titan, and the environments, were AAAA. But the villain/enemy was so poorly defined, kinda pointless waring. Slow clunking around in mechs also makes for dull gameplay imo, same as MechWarrior games.
Personally, I'd be on the fence re a TF3 campaign
@Kloppo
The duo was cool but Do you remember why they were at war again? the villian/enemys tale needed more work
I am never certain if Jeff Grubb is a reliable source, or not.
I will continue to remain sceptical of his announcements.
However I did enjoy his early work, the novel “Azure Bonds” in particular.
