Today, the company that once produced Dino Crisis games but decided to stop bothering in the early 2000s (Capcom), has randomly dropped the first two games onto PC platform GOG. Yep, Dino Crisis 1+2 are now available to buy over there - complete with new features like enhanced DirectX rendering, 4K resolution support, new V-sync options, gamma correction, anti-aliasing and a whole lot more besides.
And, following the first game's re-release on modern PlayStation platforms last year, this has us rather jealous over here on Xbox. Sure, lots of us have been clamouring for a new entry in this series or maybe even a proper modern overhaul of these classics, but even so - we'd still love to see the old games simply ported over to Xbox. Dino Crisis 3 is still the only series entry to release on Microsoft's console platform!
Clearly, we're not the only ones that want to see more of this franchise either. Last summer, the results from a Capcom fan poll revealed that new Dino Crisis is what fans want to see most from the Japanese game maker, with more than 80,000 votes being cast for the monstrous series. Dino Crisis has now been dormant (in terms of proper new releases) for more than two decades - DC3 released for OG Xbox all the way back in 2003.
While some pretty basic PC ports have prompted this little talking point here, to be honest, we'd still take those versions over here on Xbox. As we mentioned up above, Capcom has added a surprising amount of modern QOL features to these new versions, including modern controller support, which makes this even more of a no-brainer. Simple 4K releases of the first two Dino Crisis games would be very welcome, Capcom!
In the meantime, we might have to hop on over to GOG real soon and check out these fresh PC versions of Dino Crisis 1+2. Exoprimal's Game Pass release a few years ago was a valiant effort, but it just didn't satisfy our dino-shooter cravings quite enough. Here's hoping we'll be satiated in the coming years!
Who here wants to play the OG Dino Crisis games on Xbox? Join us in asking Capcom very very nicely down below.

I love GOG and their commitment to bringing old games back and keeping them available drm free. A very underrated store front. I wish home consoles were open to other stores.
I reckon we will get Dino Crisis and Veronica Remake trailers at this year's showcase. Capcom know what their fans want, and more than most, they deliver.
GOG is the only marketplace worthing using other than Steam.
We need a Dino Crisis collection AND classic RE trilogy collection asap I will buy them on Xbox and Switch day one.
Capcom didn't put the games there! This is all GoG work because that's what they do.
I'll keep waiting for Capcom to give us something official.
I'll definitely get the Dino Crisis games soon! Glad they're bringing back games like these and the first three Resident Evils.
Would love to play these again. Loved them back in day so remaster would be amazing or a 3
@Kezelpaso Hold on, a little known thing about GOG is that for games that are troublesome to run, they actually do maintenance work to get them to run on modern systems. The publisher has no hand in the support, it's all GOGs internal team doing the patching, making GOG-exclusive releases a novelty for that exact reason.
The Warcraft games that were on GOG were all patched by GOG, Blizzard had no involvement, to give an example.
Is there confirmation that Capcom themselves worked on this? It being GOG-only screams that it was the internal support GOG, not Capcom. But I can't find any info on it.
Why? Why put this game on Xbox when "Everything is an Xbox"? Just play it on PC or PlayStation, same place where you can also play every other Xbox game. Lol Microsoft has made themselves obsolete now and told us all to stop buying Xboxs. Why would Capcom want to waste resources on that type of a toxic platform!?
@Elbow I'll be honest, I'm not super well versed in how GOG works, so if it's mostly their work then this is great stuff.
Either way, I still want Capcom to bring these to Xbox in some form 😅
@Kezelpaso I'm hoping the same, just wanted to clarify!
