It's almost time for Xbox's 2024 Developer Direct event, where various teams will provide closer looks at their upcoming projects. Last year's event was Microsoft's debut effort, and we're expecting big things from its second outing.
Here's everything you need to know about the Xbox Developer Direct 2024 event.
What Can We Expect From Xbox Developer Direct 2024?
Well, we know of four Xbox and PC titles that will definitely feature at the show.
Xbox has announced that Ara: History Untold, Avowed, Hellblade 2 and Indiana Jones will be there - with in-depth looks at each title. You can expect a mixture of gameplay and developer chatter as we learn more about these releases.
However, last year's event brought a big surprise in the reveal and immediate release of Hi-Fi RUSH. We're not expecting the same thing to happen at the 2024 event (a shadow drop seems out of the question this time around), but there's always a chance of a surprise appearance - and we'd certainly love to see it!
What Date Is The Xbox Developer Direct 2024 Event?
The Xbox Developer Direct 2024 takes place on Thursday, January 18th.
Xbox Developer Direct 2024 Start Time
The Xbox Developer Direct 2024 event starts at 12pm PT / 3pm ET / 8pm GMT on January 18th.
Last year's show lasted for around 45 minutes, and you can expect a similar runtime this year. Bethesda has confirmed that an Elder Scrolls Online livestream goes ahead after the Developer Direct at 1pm PT / 4pm ET / 9pm GMT as well.
Where To Watch Xbox's Developer Direct 2024 Event
Xbox will be hosting this year's event across its usual social channels, including YouTube, Twitch and Facebook.
As usual with these kinds of livestreams, we'll also be hosting the event here at Pure Xbox - complete with our live chatroom so you can discuss all the big reveals as they happen. If you don't get to see the Xbox Developer Direct live, we'll also be rounding up all the news following the show, so rest assured you won't miss a thing!

Already got it locked and loaded in my calendar.
@NintendoByNature Hype!!
Looking forward to this. Last years presentation was flawless.
Loved last year's, probably my favourite showcase even above the "not E3" one, as I adored HiFi Rush.
No idea how they top it this year - they may have set themselves a high bar!
Cannot wait for this Showcase. I'm hoping that it will be as good as last years, though it has a lot to live up to. What would top last years show would be a shadow-drop of the much-rumoured Marcus Fenix Trilogy Remaster. Then it would definitely be a case of screw Game Pass, take my money! We can but dream... ๐
I missed last years but have nothing on next week so will tune in. Fingers crossed for some exciting surprises.
Hellblade 2 drop after the show would be great.
Hit there fellow gamers.
If this Xbox Developer Direct is as good as last year, then not only will we get some really good information, gameplay and release dates, hopefully, but also, maybe another nice surprise game being revealed and possibly shadow dropped? Maybe.
Very excited for January 18th.
Cheers everyone and happy gaming
Looking forward to seeing what Indiana Jones is, and hoping for an amazing shadow drop. Midtown Madness 3 remaster please. ๐ค๐ผHaha.
I'll be watching on YouTube I think
I'm here because I'm hoping Silksong actually gets a legit release window this time.
Dum de dum dum, dum de da,
Dum de dum dum, dum de da - da - da.
Just doing my bit to WHIP up some enthusiasm. ๐
Indiana Jones theme song playing in my head
at the top of this page is an x and a square, is that a hint to more. like a triangle and an o. they going full on playstation!?
@rustyduck
like a triangle and an o. they going full on playstation!?
Yes mate, there are heavy rumours(fanboys wishful thinking) that from February onwards Microsoft will no longer release games for Xbox, but rather go full on playstation๐คฆโโ๏ธ๐คฆโโ๏ธ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Canโt wait โฆ last years was such a foreshadowing of one of the greatest years of gaming โฆ hoping for a date of the Starfield DLC , surprises and world premieres..
Nice to see people are setting some sort of expectations, though I think we all might be too attached to the idea of a shadow drop happening.
I won't be watching but hopefully will wake up to good news Friday Activision drop and new gears games is all I really want or care about at the moment
@Sol4ris
It will happen one day when they release on PlayStation and Switch 2 as well and Xbox studios will be renamed Microsoft studios and become the biggest game publisher in the world.
Gears collection shadow drop? A man can dream right?
@OldGamer999
It will happen one day
There is indeed a likelihood that one day many things can happen.....even a nuclear war that anihilates most of humanity. Until such day, we should stay calm and carry on ๐ .
@Sol4ris
There is also odds and percentages of things happening and Iโm backing the Microsoft studios thing.
It will happen in a few years if not sooner. I maybe wrong but I would go this generation is the last for an Xbox console.
By the way I want Xbox to have hardware like now with the series x and keep Xbox exclusives. So Iโm saying this but definitely not wanting it to happen.
@Skedaddle
So itโs back to Microsoft game studios at some point then 2026 ish I think.
Yay,actually a decent time for the UK for a change, I won't have to stay awake till 4am
@Skedaddle there's plenty of people that believe that ms will be a publisher only in the not to distant future, there's plenty of reasons why.
Im looking forward to this! Interesting titles I want lots more info on, and the format is good. I hope we all enjoy it. ๐
@Skedaddle MLB multiplat was just a requirement by the league, also Sony doesn't have full control of Bungie yet so it is up to them where they publish their games. The Bungie board is 3 bungie executives and 2 from Sony, so Bungie has the final say. If Bungie can't meet their targets Sony has the right to absolve the board and take full control so the situation is completely different.
@Skedaddle
Iโm not a fan boy I have all three consoles and have also stated that I want Xbox to make consoles forever more and have Xbox exclusives.
But unlike you the fan boy, you are blind to see what is going to happen right in front of your eyes.
Itโs a business like Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo, not a please the fan boy service.
I want a shadow drop, like Hi-Fi Rush last year, but since they said "no" to that, I will watch to see Indy footage. Everything else is a bonus.
@Skedaddle
There are good reasons for both.
Itโs just what I think will happen.
But definitely not what I want to happen.
Long live Xbox hardware and exclusives.
Perhaps Iโm setting up my expectations for the worst case.
Have a great developer direct tonight, I will be there 8pm.
@Mephisto2869
there's plenty of people that believe that ms will be a publisher only
Apparently there are people who believe the earth to be flat๐...
@Sol4ris was going to say the same lol. Well played
@Sol4ris kinda funny games did a feature video on it recently ,maybe you should watch it, and have a different factual view ,rather than the fanboy one you have at the moment
@Sakai was you..well hur de hur
@Mephisto2869
Being called a fanboy by a Sony fanboy troll is the epitome of irony.
maybe you should watch it, and have a different factual view ,rather than the fanboy one you have at the moment
Well there is a clear distinction between opinion(s) and factual evidence, it seems you are unable or unwilling to recognise that๐ . Ta.
@Sol4ris People take factual evidence and then form a concise opinion ,xbox console sales are dire,they want gamepass on ps and switch,microsoft have wanted out of the console market for years ,even phil himself has stated that xbox cant compete with sony and nintendo in the console market, exclusive xbox games are coming to other consoles,more and more 3rd party devs are leaving xbox behind,take off those fanboy glasses and look at the facts ,there will be no xbox console after the next iteration,you might not like it,but guess what,ms doesn't care ๐
