The dust is beginning to settle on Xbox Developer Direct 2024, but not before fans have managed to extract one final teaser from the showcase. During MachineGames' Indiana Jones and the Great Circle segment, Bethesda seems to have teased a new Quake game.
Yep, during a section of Indiana Jones developer chit-chat, a whiteboard is shown - featuring what looks to be 'Quake 6' alongside the series' famous logo. Here's a quick clip of this very segment:
Now, 'Quake 5' doesn't actually exist, so we'd assume Bethesda and developer id Software class Quake Champions as the fifth Quake game. In this case, it's looking like the team's next franchise entry will be a new mainline Quake title.
We haven't heard anything else on this project yet, but it now looks very likely indeed. The team recently re-released a fantastic version of Quake 2, and with id Software dropping its last major game (DOOM Eternal) way back in 2020, the time could be very soon for a new Quake reveal. Let's see what the next Xbox showcase brings!

That was a nice catch, I am still curious what the 1st quarter game for Xbox 1st party this year, I was expecting the release dates to be a bit closer than what we got. Still a great show imo
Give us Quake 4 as BC or remaster it please.
I really really do hope they're working on a new Quake, a reboot of 1 in particular.
And I really really do hope they're not working on a licensed game as some have rumoured.

I think we need to be careful, this could easily be a gag "oh no we left super secret projects on the board the one day we had a film crew in"
I'd love a new Quake game and this would also explain the recent and rather brilliant Quake remasters
I said on Monday the thing I was hoping for most this year was ID to reveal their new game. Quake is awesome and I got the full 1000G for the recent remaster of quake 2.
I'm so uneasy about this news, Quake is possibly my favorite and most played game of all time, thousands and thousands of hours in Quakeworld, 3wave CTF, Team Fortess, etc. But I hate Quake 2 and 4 with the strogg or whatever crap they pivoted to. So with a new Quake game, my hopes can be sky high, and I could get another Quake 4.
So what happened to Quake 5?
