CD Projekt Red 'Considering Multiplayer' In Its Sequel To Cyberpunk 2077

We don't know a whole lot about CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 sequel right now - other than the fact that development is only just kicking into gear after the team's Phantom Liberty release. However, in a new chat with Reuters, CDPR has dropped a few hints on what's being worked on at the studio.

As the team enters the 'production phase' on the next Witcher game, it's also beginning work on a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel - also known as 'Orion'. Orion is much earlier in development than The Witcher, and apparently, the dev is "considering multiplayer" at this stage. Here's what Reuters said about the comment from CDPR:

"A sequel to Cyberpunk, code-named "Orion", is in the conceptual phase [...] CD Projekt expects to have about 80 people working on the project by the end of the year.

Nowakowski [one of the developers] added the company was considering including multi-player elements, but would not discuss details."

We'll have to see what happens in the future, but it seems like CDPR is keeping its options open with the next Cyberpunk title at this stage. We won't see this sequel for while anyway - the next Witcher title is due first and even that's a ways off yet.

Speaking of which, the team said "we'd like to have around 400 people working on the project by the middle of the year" in regards to its upcoming Witcher project, so that game seems to be progressing nicely as we head deeper into 2024. It's definitely all-go over at the Polish studio right now!
