@OldGamer999 because the US is the biggest market. The one where they are relatively competitive in the console space too.

The sales In most of Europe are very low, so the impact on sales is probably negligible.

@donv2135 mate, come on, you do realise it’s ok to criticise a company that are increasing prices by around 20%, not only are they increasing prices, but they are doing it the day after posting huge profits and revenue growth.

It’s nothing to do with ‘Xbox tax’. It’s about major price increases. Nintendo got the same when they announced $80 games, and Sony will when they follow suit after Ghost of Yotei

@OldGamer999 I don’t think it will go up a crazy amount, I think ultimate will be £17.99 so a £3 increase.

But we might start getting 2 small increases a year rather than 1.

Subscription prices are going to rise also.

They are already trying to monetise subscription more and more with ‘early access’. And you can guarantee more ways will come. Probably via ads.

GP is great value currently. Will it always be? Who knows.

And let’s assume you are a regular casual consumer, parent for your kid. You won’t know about loopholes. So is a $700 console to rent games on a monthly subscription a good deal?

To raise prices after recording huge profits is abit galling and doesn’t look very good. People here will obviously try and justify a 20% (approx) increase.

Sony will soon follow suit on game prices.

Expect GP to rise in June/july.

Just so you are aware it was just PC gamepass that grew an impressive 45% not gp as a whole.

Also -6% ontop of a -29% isn’t an improvement, it’s still a loss.

The path they have chosen is certainly going to make them some big money.

Smaller devs are realising that the money they receive upfront from MS probably outweighs any sales on the platform.

And hopefully word of mouth from GP players encourage sales on other platforms.

Yes there’s great aspects to it. You can clearly see the work gone into some areas, but if that’s being offset by it being poor elsewhere then it needs calling out.

Compare it to e33 that came out two days later. Polished, complete.

There’s a reason why it was shadow dropped - to miss outlets picking up and mentioning the bugs before people bought it.

There’s a difference between a handheld and a home console.

The Xbox handheld (Asus collab) is going to be more expensive than a switch and similar to an X.

I expect them to follow. As I expect both Plus/gp to increase.

I think it may take a while before MS raises prices - it looks like they have taken the stock from every other country to stockpile in the US.

Id enjoy the Xbox ones more if the screen wasn’t so cluttered. It really annoys me. I just like simple and minimal

But is he going to jump down Sony/xbox throat when they follow and increase the price? I doubt it.

You can’t just rail on one company when all 3 will do the same.

What is he going to say when both Xbox and PS also charge £80? - and when he realises the Xbox handheld will cost more?

In the n64 era (for instance), we got the full game on the cartridge, we got fancy boxes, manuals, artwork, posters, maps all kinds.

Now we get a cheap case, cheap disc and bit of a cover. Without the game on it. While manufacturing costs have reduced, supply chains are better.

Then there’s digital, where there’s no reason for it to be as high as it is.

Snap it up at 35k points, it’s potentially going to go to 51k

At £70/80 no chance. Same for any console. Even GTA.

Most of my day 1 stuff I get physical so only paid £48 for mhwilds.

£50/55is my limit these days, there’s so many games I haven’t played I can wait, use gp or extra to fill in the quiet times.

Gamepass is already good value - but last I checked, it doesn’t have the Nintendo games on it that people will buy the switch 2 for.

Nintendo raising prices means both MS and Sony will follow suit. As soon as one does it the other 2 follow.

How does MS have any manoeuvrability around consoles - none are available to buy? And they are the most expensive of the 3.

Sure they will make more money by selling on switch2. And thats all MS care about.

Game price goes up, subscription will follow. And yes I expect both to now happen across all systems.

The console at 400 is affordable. The games for families? Maybe not so.

Im glad so many have downloaded it and tried it. That’s great news.

But so so so many people are saying they played 15minutes and dropped it because of the bugs and issues (the beauty of trying it on GP) I hope that they come back and give it a go once it’s fixed.

From 26 is when I think we will see all MS day1 elsewhere. I feel this year may be a little too soon for a couple of games

AC shadows has had 9 articles (inc review) on Eurogamer in 10 days. Yet KCD2 sold similar, and talked about as GoTY contender.

Not saying either is wrong, but sometimes EG can get a bee in its bonnet regarding online recourse outside of a game.

@Residentsteven it’s this mad concept where sometimes mass produced items aren’t of the same quality.

I’m on my 3rd Xbox controller - 2 went in the first year with stick drift. So 3rd one is vs lasting much better granted.

Yet my ps5 is older - original controller. My original ps4 controller has had a trigger break in almost 10yrs.

My switch - original controller.

Ps5 is most played. It can just happen as they are cheaply made.

Really wanted to like it - and it’s in no way of a ‘bad’ game - I just disliked that it threw super cars at me so early. It’s like oh ok then I’m done

@themightyant yeah there was a lot of posts on the atomfall sub yesterday about issues (most were on Xbox too) so it’s certainly a wait.

Be warned for atomfall a lot of posts on the subreddit that Xbox (seems to be mainly Xbox related posts) are having sound issues.

It seems like it may need a patch or two (stalker 2 vibes) to be more enjoyable.
