The next Xbox first-party game heading our way is Age of Mythology: Retold on September 4th, and if you're keen to start playing as soon as it drops on that Wednesday, you can begin pre-installing it now with Xbox Game Pass!
We're looking at a great download size of just 23GB on Xbox Series X here too, so you shouldn't need to make much room for it. Don't forget this is a day one release across both Series X and Series S as well as PC.
For those who haven't been keeping up, Age of Mythology: Retold is a significantly enhanced version of the original Age of Mythology strategy game from 2002, complete with new visuals and even quite a few new features.
Xbox is doing a thing where you can get early access on August 27th via the Premium Edition as well, which is either available via the Premium Edition itself (£37.99 / $49.99) or via the Premium Upgrade Edition (£19.99 / $24.99) which is designed for Xbox Game Pass members as it doesn't include the game - so you'll need to stay subscribed to play it.
Or alternatively, just wait until September 4th and play it at no extra charge with your Game Pass subscription!

Ugh "early access" again. I guess I will play it a week late with gamepass ultimate. That seems to be the motto now.
Been playing plenty of AoE4 in skirmish mode recently so I’m really looking forward to another good RTS coming soon.
@BacklogBrad yes sadly day 1 on GP is not a thing. Even on the highest tier.
I really hope this holds up better on big battles on the S, AoE2 really struggled.
@Rog-X ahhh Sifi changed account names.
@Rog-X betas are usually free and months in advance intended to aid in development of the game. This is the exact same version of the game that will "launch" on Sept 4th.
I was under the impression that gamepass ultimate was the premiere xbox experience but that doesn't even get day 1 games anymore either.
