@Weebleman I’ve been saying a first party GP sub is coming to PS/nintendo for a long time now.

And it makes financial sense for all parties.

Sony will never allow a ‘full’ GP as they would lose too much from 3rd party sales/own services.

@Fiendish-Beaver since everyone keeps saying it’s great for Xbox gamers with sales on ps5, they need to look into what it’s actually given them so far:

Increased console prices
Increased game prices
(Rumour) increased GP prices

Hell I even saw an advert on tv here for FH5 on ps5! They don’t even advertise for their own ecosystem.

So far Xbox only gamers have got nothing in return. MS shareholders? Plenty and will get plenty more,

Considering CoD and other games are still releasing on ps4/xbo at the end of this year I think at best it would be very late 27’

Of course there is a price increase coming. Especially now the game price has been announced.

Dev is essentially saying MS is now paying less for games on GP (I’d assume this is because more smaller games want to get on GP)

And not only are they paying less, but where they would make money on dlc, gamers aren’t buying it as much as previously.

It’s a pretty fair thing to point out imo. And as you say this is so MS can keep it as good value for us gamers.

Teaming up with 3rd parties saves MS huge sums of money. Especially when outside of Nintendo handhelds aren’t hugely popular.

But yeah if MS can make enough money elsewhere they will drop out of console business - unless they can magically increase sales.

It’s too expensive with all the research, production costs to sell a relatively low amount (console wise) and at a loss.

They are only sticking with it because currently it is a driver of gamepass. If they can move gamepass subs to PC/tv (or wherever) they have no need for a console. Hence the play anywhere push etc,

The biggest issue is ‘gamers’ pre ordering. - especially digital as it’s not going to sell out - It means the devs can do this and others can copy

Can only assume it’s because not the first time shown? Or because it was quite an extensive trailer so most remember it?

@somnambulance I’ve just voted and thought exactly the same. Was actually struggling to find a 5th.

If it’s £800 you may as well get a combination of -

Steam deck, S2 and PS5 and have all the choices.

How excited will you be when it comes out around £6-700? As other Ally handhelds are? I can’t see MS subsiding it like they would if it was their own product.

As always the price is going to be the issue.

I guess now the game price has risen they have the ‘justification’ to increase GP price.

It was ok. There was some quality in there.

But outside of what we knew - what was really in the show that was a ‘banger’? Mudang maybe? The game freak one?

I dunno the show was a bit meh? I’m not sure how to put my finger on it? I said elsewhere ironically it felt more like a state of play than a ‘showcase’.

Compared to MS last few it was weaker compared to SGF it was better - and perhaps for a change, ever so slightly weaker than Sony effort.

And as far as the headline/article is concerned please let’s not go down the NEXT YEAR WILL BE THE YEAR route.

@Kaloudz I guessed £5-600 but I believe the current Rog is a fair bit higher than that - so I think it’s going to price many out

The non gameplay at the start had my interest waning, but the gameplay looked more for me. So looking forward to it.

C for me. I wasn’t interested in much - a lot of dlc and time spent on the MMO. And a lot was already known - ironically it felt more like a state of play.

Clockwork has me interested after it showed the game play. And mudang was it? Interesting too.

Obviously I’m multi platform so already done FF - but if you are Xbox only that’s good news!

No real new big banger announcement from MS either.

It will be the best show of the 3.

I think we will see games announced for S2 day 1 alongside PS etc.

The gears remake, potentially something about halo going to other consoles and DLC for Indy and I also think there will be something for Forza motorsport (seems to have been largely forgotten) potentially a tease of a new Forza horizon

@Jenkinss because if it wasn’t due to the limitations of the devs - remember this is their first full game - then why did MS allow the discourse around them struggling with the series S?

They would have flat out denied it because it hurts the brand. And they didn’t.

Good to see people are more interested in it being timed exclusive or not rather than the actual game.

And how many games actually release on another console on the EXACT date a timed exclusivity is up? Pretty much none.

There’s room for both.

There’s going to be a limit of what casuals are willing to pay for subscriptions and games.

Game costs are also going up, so there will be a limit MS/Sony are willing to pay to get games on there.

If subscription become the main - then all we will see is like TV, each publisher will have their own, and it would dilute the value for customers,

MS are realising they are making good (and growing) revenue/profit even with hardware struggling - so they can keep making money without expensive hardware.

And this is all before they release on s2 which will boost revenue more.

The fact it’s co op has me not interested.

However it will still be a good game and will be well received by those who play it I reckon.

None on any system. I’m happy to wait.

Last day 1 I bought was wilds and I only paid £49 for it.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, MS need better quality control.

There always feels like there are a lot of little niggles and issues that should have been picked up on and ironed out.

Now it’s certainly improving in recent releases (Indy in particular) so hopefully that continues

I don’t go out of my way anymore. It’s simply not worth the hassle. I just accrue what I accrue.

To earn enough ‘free’ points by farming them now takes significantly longer than my free time is worth. I’d rather be playing games with my time or doing something else.

Takes several hours to earn those ‘free’ points for GPU. It works out far less than minimum wage!

It’s literally there in black and white. A regular version of the series X with a slightly bigger hard drive is currently more expensive than a ps5 pro. And what about when the (ASU’s) handheld console comes out more expensive than a series X?

There is all the sales happening on PS and switch to come, everyone saying that it’s going to be great for Xbox players, when in reality all they have got so far in return is more expensive games and hardware. Directly after announcing record revenue.

I know that you are one of Xbox biggest cheerleaders, but sometimes a bad decision can be criticised.

Gamepass is great no doubt. No argument.

But the barrier to entry is getting more expensive - consoles going up, next gen a potential ‘mini pc’, the handheld looking to be £500.

Casuals won’t pay that. People will roll back on a second console. It’s £500 then £240 a year to rent games (and probably going up). Because they aren’t doing conversions/points/3rd party sites.

So many current aren’t paying the £15 a month and as conversion/points are being lowered. People will start questioning another subscription cost (again it’s still great value) in this economy

This is why MS want cloud, play anywhere because then they do away with expensive loss leader consoles. Everyone has GP on tv instead. But infrastructure isn’t there.

So MS is stuck in a middle ground - if you already have an Xbox library, it’s awesome. But if not it’s a bit meh. I still believe that a GP light will hit Sony/nintendo systems.

Flight sim halo and starfield. Think it may be another good few months till avowed.

But let’s be real they are all ending up there eventually and all will sell good. so doesn’t really matter what goes when.

Series X/ps5 will run good.

If prices do go up I’d like to see MS offer year long subs.

It’s too late for the series consoles now to even have a late ‘flurry’.

Bigger issues - what does this mean for the price of the future handhelds? Is it going to be able to compete with switch2 price? (The Asus one was already looking to be $600ish)

The fact trump will still be president in 27-28, will it delay the release of next gen? Considering that production is outside of the US.

The price rises (across all 3) make it less appealing to own multiple consoles, especially if you are more casual.

This is why I hate the metric of X many players have played the game. Because everything behind it always shows that a vast majority don’t play for long and counts a player.

That aside e33 is very very good, and deserves all its praise.

And guess what, when they raise console prices and games again they will be criticised.

@jesse_dylan and people do all kinds of mental gymnastics to protect the multi trillion dollar company, that posted record revenue the day before a price hike. An 18%+ price rise.

There’s a time and place usually. There’s nothing wrong with valid criticism.
