Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has been in the news plenty as of late, but how about some more information on the actual game itself? Well, we know it's arriving day one on Xbox Game Pass, but you can actually play the title three days early with the team's 'Premium Upgrade' option.
Yep, live now on the Xbox Store for $34.99 / £34.99 is the Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Premium Upgrade. This DLC pack — containing three days of early access, a future story DLC, some outfits and more — can be added onto the standard edition of the game, which itself will be in the Game Pass library this December.
"Xbox Game Pass Members & Standard Edition owners, upgrade now! Upgrade to the Premium Edition to receive up to 3-Day Early Access, The Order of Giants Story DLC, a digital artbook, and the Temple of Doom Outfit, Indy’s iconic look as seen in Temple of Doom"
Of course, this upgrade isn't exclusive to Xbox Game Pass - it can also be used in conjunction with a normal copy of the game, or be bought alongside the game as part of the full $100 Premium Edition. However, most of us here will likely access the title through Game Pass, so we thought this was useful info if you fancy upgrading to play early!
If you do choose to upgrade, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will go live on December 6th, while Standard Edition players will have to wait until December 9th to play. Microsoft is then bringing the game to PlayStation 5 in Spring 2025.

Grand good news for those who want early access!
@TheMightyAnt won’t be happy!
play it day 4 with gamepass!
I just don't understand this "Early Access" stuff at all. It's not a beta test. They can release it then so just release it. Everyone else is getting the game late as they want to make an extra few bucks.
For some reason I’m very hesitant to buy DLC for games I play through GamePass.
Probably just a thing I will get used to in time.
@MrFrosty Oh absolutely. If it is a game I strictly play on Gamepass and don't buy, I do buy any content for it either.
@Dimey That's honestly the main take away. Saying 3 days early access is just a way to try to skirt around that wording.
@Dimey Play it Day 4 with Gamepass Ultimate*
*Still unknown if Day 4 for GP Standard users or if Standard Gamepass gets the same release day as PS5
Yeah, after the whole early access thing to Starfield, not going to do that again.
We went from “play it day one with Game Pass” to “play it day 4 only with Ultimate”.
So not only are you paying more for Ultimate, but now you can pay even more for 3 days early.
It was gross before, and it's still gross.
Bethesda can really be a despicable company
All games, day one with gamepass 👍
So if you pay the 34.99 to go early and then cancel gamepass, what happens there? Personally I would like to think nobody is suckered into this but alas we all know they are out there
@Weebleman you lose the game afaik. Because you aren’t actually buying the full game.
@PsBoxSwitchOwner so it's 34.99 and endless monthly payments to use it. Christ alive, you may as well just burn your money
@Weebleman that's what I was thinking - pay £35 for access to the game 3 days early, that you don't own. People can't be THAT gullible can they?!
@Swirly sadly I think we both know the answer.
Id rather whack 70 quid on it physical (on either console, to be clear) and trade it when done. At least I get some of my money back.
@Dimey Day four with Gamepass Ultimate
Day 100(?) on Playstation
Day 369* on Gamepass Standard
Never - Gamepass Core
Play it day 4 with gamepass...catchy slogan xbox.
Gotta stay off the internet for a few days I guess. Single player games really amplify how stupid this trend is.
Maybe i am getting old but this has been around before gamepass, before digital. Gamepass is still Day 1 alongside all physical or digital base game purchases. However if you want to pay for the DLC up front regardless if gamepass or base game purchase part of the bonus is to play 3 days early.
No harm no foul. If no one buys the Dlc pack then no one plays early.
Nothing new.
Think of it this way. Let’s say you buy the DLC while you have a gamepass sub. And one day you stop the sub most likely the base game will be a fraction of the price on release and you will save a few bucks. There is no forcing anyone to do anything currently it is still a choice.
I think it’s ridiculous. I will never pay £34.99 to play a game 3 days early and get a future DLC or whatever. This shouldn’t be the norm, you’re paying £35 for a season pass essentially, it’s farcical.
@Weebleman unfortunately ‘gamers’ are largely fools and easily parted with their money.
Look how many preorder digital games. Yet we have proof after proof that games release needing a patch or two.
Many obviously buy this stuff or else it wouldn’t be available.
Personally I’ll wait for reviews, see the technical state and then potentially play day 4 or wait for a patch or two.
Lol, nope. I'll wait a few days to play it. I cannot imagine this game being real good anyway. I mean - Redfail, Starfailed, Scorned, Hellblade 2, all 7's. This will be no different.
£35 for an extra 3 days’ rent. 😹
@BacklogBrad 4 the players!!!
@PhileasFragg welcome to horse armour 2.0
Pass.
I only got the Starfield one because I knew the web would be filled with spoilers before launch.
I am less concerned about that with Indy, It's indy the formula for it's storytelling is pretty established.
@MrFrosty I know what you mean, but I've done it a couple of times. With Nobody Saves the World, I enjoyed the game via GP and decided to send a few bucks direct to the devs (sort of, bur you get what I mean). I played it a bit. Game eventually left the service. I'm fine, no buyers remorse. I also bought dlc for physical copy of Spiderman, and later gave the game to a friend. For me it is fine because I rarely replay anything, and I know that when I make the purchase. It was always going to be a 1 time experience. If you are a big replayer, you probably want to buy rather than GP anyway. Whatever you decide, hope you enjoy the game!
I tend not to buy dlc before I try a game, or before we even know what the dlc might be. Borderlands Presequel taught me that lesson
@Aniscape so you're saying pay the 34.99 to play early, pay the monthly sub costs and, when you cancel, buy the game as well.
And this saves you Money how?

For one thing gamepass is not just Indiana that you are paying for. All I am saying is it is a choice. However much money you want to spend on a game is the individuals choice. Don’t like the options don’t buy in. Just get the physical or digital and do not subscribe to gamepass then nothing has changed. Think you will enjoy the game and want to get the dlc then go for it. I have in the past and some were great and some I played for a few hours and that was it there went my $70, $60, &50.
If you have gamepass you do not have to get the dlc. Turn on the xbox on Dec 9th and play the like anyone else who has not bought the dlc.
This is just like any other promotion whether you get a poster at Gamestore or an extra mission for paying more…due to digital nature playing 3 days or 5 or 7 early is just another poster or extra mission but the few days earlier seems to be the latest that buyers are looking for nothing else.
That will still be an upgraded 'edition - like Ubisoft selling a 'Gold' Edition with the DLC, some cosmetics and early access for Digital Pre-orders....
Everyone else - whether you buy the Physical Editions or Standard edition or play the Standard Edition on Game Pass has to wait for its 'full' releases...
Its a 'bonus' for pre-ordering when they take your money in advance so know they have made a sale!

Play Day O̵n̵e̵ Four (or up to 12 months later) on Gamepass
@themightyant haha zen buddy, zen. Enjoy! (Well deserved i’m sure).
@Ilyn At least with Horse armour someone put work into making it. This is doing the same work, but 3 days later. It's LITERALLY cashing in on hype.
The same was done for Starfield and Kill the Justice League. The first one didn't live up to the hype and so you just got bored with it a couple days earlier, and the other one was KTJL so enough said.
If there is also a review embargo until release day on this game then I'll start to get a bit worried...
@PhileasFragg Its also just happened yesterday on the new expansion for WoW. They have never done it before and decided to do it for this expansion. Can't help but think they were following suit of the new owners as they decided it before the buyout was complete but after it had been announced.
Its just very scummy behavouir to cash in on fomo
That's quite a pricey upgrade for a few digital trinkets and an DLC chapter.
To put an optimistic spin on it, hopefully that means the DLC is quite a meaty expansion!
@Dimey No, play it day 4 with "Game pass Ultimate". Play it day 366 on "game pass" and after it's on PS5 too.
People need to stop calling game pass game pass when they are referring to game pass ultimate.
So the naming and extra tiers from a month back clearly are a confusing mess to people.
@Ilyn I'm not surprised ActiBlizz are onto it. It's money for nothing, and so they must be giddy with excitement. It's even worse with multiplayer games as if your friends all play WoW, CoD, etc. and they get the early access your pressured into getting it as well. Not good for content creators too who all want to get stuff out there of the newest releases.
My rational as same as when I got the Starfield DLC:
Got game pass - check
Got reward points to buy it - check
Going to get the DLC anyways - check
Going to love the game- check
= spent no real money and the perk is the early access which I probably will not use but it is a better perk than any other perk
Can certainly tell Microsoft now owns Bethesda with this kind of crap
Could use the Reward points but I'll pass. Starfield had an OST but a digital artbook and cosmetics at this price is bit over the top imo! Also, a bad modus operandi!
It's NOT unique to Microsoft - Pre-order Space Marine Warhammer 40k 2 and you can play that 4 days early - that's NOT a Microsoft game.
Activision did it with CoD too so it's not 'new' and I remember playing games 'early' because a shop put them on sale 'early' or ordering and getting it delivered a day early...
It's also gauging interest and getting some money in from 'Game Pass' Subscribers too...
@Dimey You get what you pay for...
@theduckofdeath misadvertising?
