Re: Phil Spencer Says Xbox Is Done Trying To Convince PS5 & Switch Players To Move Over

PsBoxSwitchOwner

@fatpunkslim it’s most likely because this strategy has only just been decided upon (most likely after seeing how well the original 4 games sold).

MS can’t just magically make the games appear day 1, that were already announced/working on. it will probably start to change going forward with future releases, when the showcases start announcing next years games etc.

They’ve already also decided that going forward MS games will show their branding.

Re: Avowed Review Roundup: Here's What The Critics Think So Far

PsBoxSwitchOwner

@Kaloudz avowed was never going to score highly. The devs have admitted it has jank. - reviewers won’t give that top marks - whereas a player is more likely to look past it.

But instead of just accepting 8 is a good score (and Infact right around other obsidian games) people try to make up excuses.

For me this 8 will be better than the 10 of Indy.

Re: Review: Avowed (Xbox) - Flashy Action & Excellent Exploration Make Up For A Surprisingly Breezy Narrative

@themightyant I always try and go in as blind as possible, just skim reviews if it’s a game I know is for me

yeah I expected around 80-85. Might only be an 80, but for me it will be more enjoyable than Indy that scored (deservedly) high.

I don’t understand why people were expecting higher, the dev openly admitted it had jank etc, it was never going to get huge scores. But obviously it’s the Xbox tax and Sony have paid for these scores!

Re: Poll: What Kind Of Review Scores Are You Predicting For Avowed?

PsBoxSwitchOwner

@Ilyn yeah did you not know, we all have a meeting beforehand of a release. Decide who’s giving the score and who’s editing the wiki. And it’s decided who is being paid off too.

It’s like their favourite plastic box can’t be criticised - and most of the time it’s ‘adults’ that are defending everything.

Every company can be criticised there’s nothing wrong with that.

Re: Reporter Suggests Console Exclusives Will Soon Be 'Obsolete', Especially For Third-Party Devs

PsBoxSwitchOwner

This depends on one thing.

Which makes them the most money.

Does Sony/MS paying for the exclusive give the developers more time to focus one console then move to the next, make a better release and more money. - does it create more hype for a pc/other console release? (Does Sony money cover the ‘expected sales on Xbox for instance?’)

Or does spreading thinner, port for 2/3 at once potentially need more staff during development lead to more overall sales? Would a poor release hurt things more?

Far more to it than what is said here. And they all have the data.

On the plus side, as always he has a 50/50 chance of being right!

Re: Halo PS5 Rumours Resurface Following Forza Horizon 5 Announcement

@Kaloudz mate, you took a break from the site because all you was doing was defending Xbox.

You have come back and are doing the same. You are going to burn yourself out again. Would be a shame to see you leave again. You don’t need to defend MS every move!

Let people be annoyed. Let people feel let down. You don’t have to stand up for MS. It’s their job to communicate better.

Re: Forza Horizon 5 Officially Announced For PS5, Drifts Over In Spring 2025

@Isolte im not denying there will be improvements. The issue is it’s not just something on Microsoft’s end. It’s the whole infrastructure of countries/towns and cities.

It’s awesome if you live in a major city with great internet. Now go somewhere else that doesn’t have this and it’s a big difference. Uk doesn’t even have total 5g or gig internet speeds. Some places can only get 3G!

Microsoft can’t fix that.

Re: Xbox Hardware Declines But 'Content & Services' Grows In FY25 Q2 Earnings Report

PsBoxSwitchOwner

@Millionski it more depends if they can shift GP users from console to PC or tv/fire stick or whatever.

MS has all the R&D costs, losing money on each console sold (or they were last I knew). If they had gp numbers elsewhere they would drop consoles as it’s just an expense.

But considering something like 80% of gp is on consoles, they will have to take the hit. MS really need to find a way to get PC players onto gp, but I don’t see it happening quickly.

Re: Xbox's Multiplatform Releases Made Microsoft The Top Game Publisher In The World Last Month

PsBoxSwitchOwner

Well they didn’t drop 75billion to not be top publisher.

Porting elsewhere helps both sides. MS get 70% they weren’t getting, Sony get their 30% cut (or whatever deal is done) that they wouldn’t have if said game wasn’t ported.

MS are massively helping Sony out right now. Giving them access to games where otherwise they would be lean.

So these figures show exactly why MS are going multi platform. It’s always about the line ever going up.

Re: Xbox Has 'Right Approach' To Exclusives & PlayStation May Follow, Suggests Ori Dev

PsBoxSwitchOwner

I think Sony will get in bed with Nintendo long before MS.

Sony will already have data from MLB/destiny. They would have to downgrade games to run parity on series S too.

Even the best selling exclusives hit 20% of install base at the best.
So Xbox would be 6million (approx) then take into account people who own multiple consoles or PC and that number drops even further.

We may get there, but as PS console sales hold steady AND they are getting Xbox games their need to port is much less currently
