Played a few hours last night so far amazing. I just really enjoying the game but also the GUI and the systems running in the background. Everything is so modern system wise and fluid. One of my hates for Starfield was its slow and out of date GUI and background systems.
Put a few hours in now great game. Xbox studios with Avowed and COD and Indy are really hitting their stride now. And not long, south of Midnight and Doom very soon. With the series x and GPU, you really can’t go wrong, better Xbox times now.
@Medic_alert Basically that’s the end game. People vote with their wallets and unfortunately that is over the last decade or so that has got us here now. People voted with their wallets and purchased Sony and Nintendo consoles and games and not xbox consoles or game pass that much.
@Cakefish Yes third party support needs to stay and again if they have already made the game the cost to port to a new Xbox isn’t going to cost too much. Then again it’s return on investment in the end.
For it’s all good as long as they release a normal under the tv powerful home console and keep GPU at the same price ish with all Xbox studios games day one.
Once the above falls then I fall with Xbox and Xbox home consoles.
Then there is the Microsoft finances. Over 50% of GPU subs are on Xbox consoles. Is it worth another console or can they maintain GPU as it is now selling less consoles next generation. Investment against return on investment. If you take Xbox console out of GPU then it really is not selling that well on all the other billions of devices.
@themightyant It probably doesn’t matter much as it is of course a GPU release. Depends I guess if fable is multi platform day one on PS5, as that could affect sales on PS5. There is no GTA6 PC release. If it’s ready just release on Xbox and maybe PS5 early in 2026 when a good time is available, that’s what I would do.

Best looking road map out of the big three by miles. Actually do the others actually reveal much and have a road map nowadays. They used to, but the others almost gone quiet and dare I say it dam well boring.
I still don’t think they will show what consoles some of the new games are going to be on, when first revealed, because it’s not all day one, like Indy isn’t day one PS5 but Doom is.
I think they will still hold either intentionally or they may not be sure. So take another game Fable they may well just show Xbox etc on the next trailer, but a few months after release say it’s going to PS5 and at the time of the new trailer did not know that.
Maybe it’s true or maybe a marketing strategy to keep Xbox consoles and GPU ticking over at some sort of profit.
Day one XBOX of course it was Halo that got me first. UK 2002 also with dead and alive 3 and project Gotham racing. Since then every Xbox day one and have not really stopped since.
@HonestHick You have a good point about no Xbox mid gen refresh, it could give them a 2026 window. As if Sony went next gen in 2026 that might be a slap in the face to PS5 Pro owners and make the PS gang a bit sore.
@Cakefish Yeah even in today’s different landscape with Xbox releasing games on PS, I doubt Sony would want to be a year behind Xbox in release of next generation. Could well be same time every November as usual 🤣
@Banjo- Yeah I guess with reviews it’s all bout personal opinion. Anyway review embargo lifts tomorrow and I must resist the early access for £17.99 on my GPU 🤣
It’s all a business and also human nature with the path of least resistance. If the series s is not letting you get away with certain things and you have to optimise to get it work then of course it helps the more powerful consoles and you might be able to get better performance from them. But one thing for sure the business model would rather not be optimising on the series s and taking time to do so.
@Blastfemur So you are OLED like me, I’m QD OLED but that should not make a difference. 40fps to me isn’t much of a smoother or cleaner experience than 30fps. But 60fps is smoother and so much clearer.
I remember the GTA five release and queuing inside Tesco for midnight release. They split us into to two groups queuing which was such fun. Xbox in one queue and PlayStation the other. There was plenty of harmful banter. But of course the queues were about equal as it was the Xbox360/PS3 days.
@gollumb82 Yeah seem to be getting 120hz 40fps vibe on here. I guess everyone has their own preference and also different TVs as well can make a bit of difference. I will stick to my 60fps with VRR mode unless I find a game that proves me wrong.
Any console any game after lots of tests. I always find 60fps the best for smoothness and less blur and smear when panning around. Better than 30fps and the 120hz 40fps balanced mode.
Not a chance I’m hell not my type of game. Read lots of reviews etc. won’t slate some of things but definitely not for me. Those that like hope you really enjoy.
It is what it is and you all know after purchasing all those studios and the current affairs over at Sony I would have had a fight and promoted Xbox consoles and game pass lots more and gone on a campaign. Then focused to release next generation Xbox a year early than Sony and try to do an xbox360 on them. But it doesn’t matter now they went the other way and Xbox consoles are where they are and probably sell less next generation.
If I was them I would release GTA6 after April 1st 2026 to boost that financial year. As 2025 has the other three games in the previous financial year.
@Banjo- Really hope we keep quick resume for next Xbox. Will be so annoyed if it gets left out, especially Xbox said was easy ish to implement and it’s just a small hard drive memory dump.
@Banjo- FPS boost is ok but sometimes lowers the resolution like fc new dawn. But when it got a patch the other day a full 60fps and full 4K, looks and runs so well.
@themightyant That’s saved the game for me, 60fps with VRR should be great. No rubbish blurr and smearing when panning around or at least a lot better than 30fps.
@Fiendish-Beaver Sorry to hear about your wife and the back pain issues. Well I have had two knee operations and a good ole hernia operation, but luckily me back is in a good state. I have a grandchild age 4, so not in your league just yet 🤣
@themightyant Another thing that gets me this generation is the new games even at 60fps VRR on can look more blurry in motion than far cry new dawn patched now at 60fps resolution native 4K.
My conclusion they push the consoles so hard with graphical level of detail, special effects, longer draw distances and lighting tech. This means to keep 60fps they have such a terrible low resolution say 1080p some lower some higher, then rely on upscalers to make up to 4K, resulting in a very blurry image when panning around, Avatar definitely comes to mind and a few others series x and PS5 and even PS5 Pro.
Obviously my upscaler experience is only consoles so mainly FSR and PSSR, both not great, when taking a low resolution to start with.
Stand still in the game and it looks amazing, start running, moving and especially panning around, a smeary mess.
I don’t care what DF etc say when it comes to consoles true native 4K at 60fps VRR is king for super smoothness and less blurry when panning around. And they are more than welcome round mine on my top end set up to prove me wrong.
I don’t know why developers can’t stick games at 1800p to 4K native full 60fps with VRR and stay with the consoles graphical limitations.
It’s like developers are actually making games not for current generation, that don’t run great but for next generation to patch and run how the actual game should do.

So far about 30 minutes in absolutely great.
Tight control as well.
Re: Avowed Is Available Today With Xbox Game Pass (February 18)
@Ricky-Spanish
15 minutes to go, downloaded and ready.
Enjoy.
Re: Avowed Is Available Today With Xbox Game Pass (February 18)
Well I did manage to hold off on the early access in the end, so will be on it tonight with GPU.

I’m going 2028 probably the same time as Sony. You never know maybe 2027 to get a year ahead of Sony who knows nowadays.
Will be interesting to see if they go just one console and no S and X situation.
Re: Avowed Performance Modes Tested, Including 40FPS Option On Xbox Series S

Re: Talking Point: Avowed Premium Owners, What Are Your First Impressions?
I’m trying to resist the devil’s temptation, so held back so far 🤣
Re: Avowed Performance Modes Tested, Including 40FPS Option On Xbox Series S
@Weebleman
Yes I have the 120hz VRR TV.
Shall try both 40 and 60 but with every game on any console always gone 60.
Re: Avowed Review Roundup: Here's What The Critics Think So Far
What I’ve seen so far and read looks great just what I wanted and of course 60fps.
Looking forward to diving in.
Re: Avowed Performance Modes Tested, Including 40FPS Option On Xbox Series S
Thank god for the 60fps mode.
Just what I wanted,, now I can play and enjoy.

We best keep an eye on the pure Xbox review after Indy 🤣

Must resist 🤣

It think the review embargo is the 13/2/25 same as earlier access date.

I’m definitely in at 60fps XSX.
Though I have GPU anyway.
Re: GTA 6 For Xbox Series X|S Is Still Targeting A 'Fall' 2025 Release

Re: Avowed Has A 60FPS Mode On Xbox Series X, Confirms Obsidian
@Banjo-
Yep and can used with HDMI 2.0 and 2.1
As with PS5 only works with hdmi 2.1
And don’t forget quick resume, my favourite series x feature. 🤣
Re: Avowed Has A 60FPS Mode On Xbox Series X, Confirms Obsidian
@Feffster
Remember the VRR window of a series x goes to or I think lower than 40fps up to 60fps
The PS5 range is 48fps to 60fps.
So the Series x VRR can work at lower fps rates down to 40fps.
Re: Avowed Has A 60FPS Mode On Xbox Series X, Confirms Obsidian
@Banjo-
It’s great news it’s 60fps series x.
Re: Xbox Partners With Currys To Offer Console Repairs In UK & Ireland
@Fiendish-Beaver
You took the words right out of my mouth.
How about some new console stock XBOX.
And I don’t me little drips of stock, a real restock, series x disc and discless and series s both types.
Re: Avowed Has A 60FPS Mode On Xbox Series X, Confirms Obsidian
