Re: Xbox's New Strategy Is 'Right' For The Business And Needs To Be Embraced, Says Former Exec

For it’s all good as long as they release a normal under the tv powerful home console and keep GPU at the same price ish with all Xbox studios games day one.

Once the above falls then I fall with Xbox and Xbox home consoles.

Then there is the Microsoft finances. Over 50% of GPU subs are on Xbox consoles.
Is it worth another console or can they maintain GPU as it is now selling less consoles next generation. Investment against return on investment.
If you take Xbox console out of GPU then it really is not selling that well on all the other billions of devices.

I still don’t think they will show what consoles some of the new games are going to be on, when first revealed, because it’s not all day one, like Indy isn’t day one PS5 but Doom is.

I think they will still hold either intentionally or they may not be sure.
So take another game Fable they may well just show Xbox etc on the next trailer, but a few months after release say it’s going to PS5 and at the time of the new trailer did not know that.

Maybe it’s true or maybe a marketing strategy to keep Xbox consoles and GPU ticking over at some sort of profit.

Re: Xbox Series S 'Greatly Helped' With Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Development

It’s all a business and also human nature with the path of least resistance.
If the series s is not letting you get away with certain things and you have to optimise to get it work then of course it helps the more powerful consoles and you might be able to get better performance from them.
But one thing for sure the business model would rather not be optimising on the series s and taking time to do so.

Re: New Financial Report Provides Estimated Xbox Series X|S Sales Figure As Of Late 2024

It is what it is and you all know after purchasing all those studios and the current affairs over at Sony I would have had a fight and promoted Xbox consoles and game pass lots more and gone on a campaign.
Then focused to release next generation Xbox a year early than Sony and try to do an xbox360 on them.
But it doesn’t matter now they went the other way and Xbox consoles are where they are and probably sell less next generation.

@themightyant
Another thing that gets me this generation is the new games even at 60fps VRR on can look more blurry in motion than far cry new dawn patched now at 60fps resolution native 4K.

My conclusion they push the consoles so hard with graphical level of detail, special effects, longer draw distances and lighting tech.
This means to keep 60fps they have such a terrible low resolution say 1080p some lower some higher, then rely on upscalers to make up to 4K, resulting in a very blurry image when panning around, Avatar definitely comes to mind and a few others series x and PS5 and even PS5 Pro.

Obviously my upscaler experience is only consoles so mainly FSR and PSSR, both not great, when taking a low resolution to start with.

Stand still in the game and it looks amazing, start running, moving and especially panning around, a smeary mess.

I don’t care what DF etc say when it comes to consoles true native 4K at 60fps VRR is king for super smoothness and less blurry when panning around.
And they are more than welcome round mine on my top end set up to prove me wrong.

I don’t know why developers can’t stick games at 1800p to 4K native full 60fps with VRR and stay with the consoles graphical limitations.

It’s like developers are actually making games not for current generation, that don’t run great but for next generation to patch and run how the actual game should do.
