It's been mentioned a couple of times over the past few months how Microsoft is working hard to make Xbox console repairs more accessible moving forward, and that continues today with a new partnership in the UK and Ireland.
This means that Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S owners in these regions (and presumably Xbox One owners too) can now contact Currys when they're in need of a console repair, even if the warranty has long since expired.
Note: The one exception to the out-of-warranty repairs is the Republic of Ireland.
Here's a bit of what Currys had to say about today's Xbox partnership announcement:
"Consumers will benefit from Currys’ tech expertise, regardless of where their Xbox console was purchased. Whether it’s through visiting one of Currys' stores, filled with expert colleagues, or getting their console booked in to be repaired at Europe’s largest tech repair centre in Newark – this includes consoles both in warranty and out of warranty."
It's also been mentioned how both Xbox and Currys are using this partnership to "combat the UK’s e-waste crisis" with the latter highlighting how e-waste has become "one of the world’s fastest-growing waste streams".
We're definitely glad to see Currys offering this service for Xbox owners in the UK and Ireland, and hopefully it'll prove a very fruitful partnership - one that makes things a lot simpler for Xbox owners in these regions from now on!
Happy to see this partnership between Xbox and Currys? Tell us down in the comments below.

Wonder if they fix stick drift, and how much it'll cost.
Sounds ok but why no out of warranty for for us Irish!!
Ohhh very nice!! It's about time!
@abe_hikura That, would be something I would love to know. I wager there's far more controllers go to waste than consoles.
@abe_hikura i bet it’s impossible to truly fix $tick drift . this issue started last gen and hit its full stride this gen, so many wasted dollars on wasted controllers . here we are 5 years later into 9th gen and its still going strong
I wonder whether this has anything to do with the fact that you will struggle to buy a new Series console right now? Thus, if you cannot buy a new one, your only options would be repair your current one, or move to another platform.
Have to wonder what the situation is right now with the Xbox console; are they clearing stock in readiness for the release of the Prime next year, or just leaving the market full-stop? There has to be a reason why there is such a shortage of Series consoles right now...
Will definitely give this a go. Series X HDMI port broke when I plugged in the cable so it all works fine but doesn't output an image. Instantly a £450 paper weight 😥. Bought an S to replace it but very disappointed as it was my first Xbox since the 360 RROD but had GP annual subscription so was wasting my subscription without an Xbox to use it.
But I guess I now have some hope.
@Kaloudz certainly is in my house, got a shelf that's "zombie pads" ones that 'work' but drifter ha e some other issue.
@nomither6 I was more thinking they'd replaced the drifting part witha fresh one, though "Hall effect upgrades" would be a cool service.
@Ricky-Spanish Look, you've got the good rugby team, we've got the Xbox repairs, everybody gets something, right? 🤣
@Fiendish-Beaver I do wonder if they'll have a bit of a resale market for Xbox consoles, I think Amazon already do restored series X, and I know that Currys do clearances too (mostly through eBay). Can't really understand the lack of stock thing though, but obviously it's for something. My guess is cloud, but could just be a simple wave the white flag and move on to prime
@abe_hikura ebay is a pretty great place for this. I got both sticks replaced on my drifting Xbox controller for around £15. Just check the seller reviews first.
@nomither6 Stick drift didn't start last gen it's been around as long as analogue sticks. I had several X360 controllers that eventually drifted.
However the main difference is that the deadzones have been shrunk more and more with each generation to make the sticks feel more responsive. But the downside with that is even a tiny bit of physical drift will now register as drift on the console, whereas before it might not.
E.g. I have PS5 controllers that only have a 9% drift/error rate (when testing via PC) that drift on PS5 but I have X360 controllers with 15% drift/error rate that don't drift on that console. What's frustrating is it would often be fixable in software, if they would just allow us to increase the deadzone per controller and make them a LITTLE less responsive if we have drift.
@Coletrain That is true just a shame I'm not into the rugby myself just the football and there's no joy there haha 😂
@Ricky-Spanish
Wonder why, something to do with EU regs?
@themightyant
Was there not an fimware update that allowed for dead zone increase in the Xbox accessories?
I gave up before then when my Elite 2 started drifting and went third party to get a hall effect sensor controller.
Haven't looked back.
@GeeForce I believe, please correct me if i'm wrong, that is only available for Elite controllers. I had a look for this when I had drift, but perhaps it's changed now.
This is good to know, least I know I won’t have to potentially fork out about £400 for a new Series X if, god forbid, mine ever broke.
@Fiendish-Beaver
You took the words right out of my mouth.
How about some new console stock XBOX.
And I don’t me little drips of stock, a real restock, series x disc and discless and series s both types.
So I could get my out-of-warranty console booked in for repair at my local Curry’s without needing to faff about with couriering it to the repair centre? That’s pretty handy! Great to see it as an option.
another option is CEX who also offer console repairs and 5 year warranty on all products they sell
@abe_hikura stick drift is a very cheap fix its the potentiometer that needs replacing its 3 solder points and the part costs £1
Should probably partner with them to get stock back in while they are at it.
@abe_hikura I've got stick drift on two Series S pads, so having this as an option (and I imagine it would only be £10 - £20 max - otherwise you would just buy a new pad) would be amazing.
What’s this Curry’s do I get a chicken tikka masala, pliu rice and a Nan bread whilst I wait for the repair to be done.
Bloody great idea.

It'll only cost you three to four times what any other local repair shop would charge!!
