Avowed is officially out now! Well, if you're willing to fork over a bit of money for it at least - it's available in early access form for both Premium Edition and Premium Upgrade owners ahead of its full release on February 18th.
With that in mind, we wanted to provide a platform for the Pure Xbox members who have decided to get stuck in early, so please let us know your first impressions down in the comments below! It's also a chance to remind you that the Premium Upgrade is a much more inexpensive way of getting early access if you're planning on it - the one catch is that it's designed for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members who will remain subscribed after the full launch.
If you're not caught up about the whole early access thing, there's more detail elsewhere on Pure Xbox:
You've already seen our opinion here at Pure Xbox - after 50 hours of gametime, we came away with a "Great" 8/10 score for Avowed, so we reckon it's definitely worth playing regardless of whether you get early access or not.
But what about you? Are you enjoying what Avowed has to offer in the early hours so far? Any performance issues or glitches we need to hear about? Don't worry if you haven't played much yet — we're not expecting that you have — we just want to hear your very first impressions of the game and gauge how the community is feeling in general so far.
So, how are you getting on with Avowed's early access? Tell us down in the comments section below.

Still trying to download the bloody thing. 12 hours of stop/start downloading. 🤬
I’m trying to resist the devil’s temptation, so held back so far 🤣
Really quite buggy.
I am intrigued so far and want to see where the story goes which is always a good sign. Still early days but looking good so far.
Running in performance mode and it's not had any issues as far as I can tell on Series X
(I got the premium upgrade after preordering the standard edition. Actually slightly cheaper than buying premium edition outright as you get gamepass discount on the upgrade.)
@FraserG
This doesn't really have to do with the article, but it's just plain curiosity: how early do you guys get to play the game(s) to be able to put something like 50 hrs in, and do you guys feel pressured when it's a big game like this one?
Still on the starting island, so haven’t got to Paradis yet. Enjoying the combat and exploring so far, and tbh these are the two main enjoyment factors for me in a game like this. I tried the game on quality mode, but it wasn’t smooth enough for me so switched to performance (which unfortunately requires you to reboot the game, so make sure you save first). It’s still too early to give a solid opinion, but early impressions are pretty good.
@Lup It can vary from a few days to a few weeks depending on the game. In this case we got a good amount of time, but there's always pressure for sure - especially when having to balance those 50 hours with other responsibilities!
Fortunately @PJOReilly is a machine 😎👌
@FraserG
Thanks a lot for the answer! 🙏🏻
I've been playing a short one recently and even with that one I'm having trouble finding the time, so the question came to mind, haha.
Thanks for you work as always, guys. 👏🏻
Enjoying it so far. Just finished the opening island area, not run into any bugs and the game runs very smoothly in performance mode (haven’t tried quality mode, and rarely do if there is a performance option). Looks gorgeous too.
I've put almost 2 hours into the PC version and so far I am intrigued. It looks good and seems to play well, though I am still learning the controls and getting a feel for the combat. It takes time to really come to grips with a game like this but I will share more thoughts as I go.
I see the download is about 75 GB so a pretty meaty download … about average for a new RPG …
i am absolutely loving it. in fact, this is the first time i've felt like i've actually role played in a game in a long time- i realized ive just been knocking things off a checklist. it's beautiful, plays great, the story has me hooked, i like the character i've created.
Sadly seems like obsidian is no more awful story ,awful char creator,dated graphics, mediocre combat, 4/10 for me
I'm enjoying it so far haven't had any trouble with it I did fall through the map once but other than that it's a great game!!
I'm really enjoying it so far! No bugs yet about 10 hours in. I have heard the Gamepass version is a bit more buggy and needs an additional patch. I have the full physical premium edition (From currys £81) with is an update ahead of the Gamepass version for some reason.
@cornholio005 How many hours have you played?
@Darylb88 Hi 38 hrs
@cornholio005 The game launched less than 24 hours ago.. nice try.
@Darylb88 i had a review copy and posted a review on youtube lol
@cornholio005 Great why don't you share the link so I can see your review then.
@Darylb88 i tried in last message wouldn't let me
@cornholio005 What's your youtube name?
@cornholio005 yeah, what's your YouTube name. We'd be really interested in seeing this review.
I'm really digging the magic. the mele took a minute to get used to. idk if it's the first person view or what but it feels a little bit off to me. what it's really made me want to do is pause it and finish the first two games in the shared world. so, that's a testament to it's quality. It seems like I'll really enjoy it.
The closet game i have to compare it to recently is just how much better it is then dragon age veilfraud.
Enjoying it a lot. Something really nice about a Combat RPG that's very straight forward in mechanics. It's nice to have a game like this every now and then. Looking forward to playing more when I get the chance.
