Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 29-30)

I’m mostly focusing on Shadow of the Erdtree. I had bought the Kimgdom Hearts Collection on Steam but it was almost unplayable on Steam Deck with how much it kept freezing. I returned it and ordered the Metal Gear Solid Collection and Hogwarts Legacy instead. I fired up MGS for the first time since beating it on PlayStation.

@NEStalgia mild correction, your don’t above to beat the base game to access the DLC just two bosses.

I’ve bought every From Soulsborne game too and usually got decently far in them but would fall off. This one held my attention from start to finish, even with being burnt out on the genre of game. The exploration is done better than any other open world game, in my opinion. What I truly adore about it though, is that I’ve never truly gotten stuck in the game. You can come across a boss, enemy, or area that is just wrecking you left and right, but all you have to do is go explore somewhere else and return later. That’s a huge advantage, to me, over other games in the genre where you come across a boss and you’re stuck there until you take them down. The game still isn’t for everyone, I won’t pretend like it is, but I know people who refused to ever play a game in the genre but picked it up because of hype and ended up platinuming it.

@rustyduck I don’t disagree, while I do love a good sword/melee game, I’m sick of every game feeling like they have to be a Souls game. Shooters, especially third person shooters like Killswitch and Mercenaries, have gotten pushed to the back burner, or focus too much on multiplayer. I’d gladly sacrifice half of these sword/melee games for a good single player shooter.
That’s one of the reasons I’m so disappointed in Apex Legends, Titanfall 2 was a phenomenal single player campaign, but they scrapped any chance of a third entry for a multiplayer only game. At least we still have Doom and Indy on the way.

Re: Hi-Fi RUSH Is Getting One Final Patch As Tango Gameworks Thanks Fans For Support

@rustyduck ah, that must be why it was so critically acclaimed and reviewed so highly by users, just like Redfall … Oh right …

Hey, if you like Redfall, that’s great, to each their own, but Hi-Fi Rush had fun gameplay, a good story, fantastic sound and level design, and it was genuinely funny. Just because it’s got a more cartoon esthetic and is more kid friendly doesn’t make it “childish” by any stretch of the word.

Re: Tango Gameworks Had Hopes For Hi-Fi RUSH 2 Before Xbox Closure, Says Report

@BacklogBrad I’d 100% take games like Hi-Fi Rush with large gaps in between over a quick turn around any day. Hell, I’d take Hi-Fi over either of those games even if it meant they were scrapped entirely. Don’t get me wrong, they’re great games but I get burnt out on them. At least games like Hi-Fi felt fresh and original, while being the perfect length.

My best wishes to everyone impacted by this. This is horrible news all around, though I’m most devastated by Tango. Hi-Fi Rush was one of my absolute favorite games to come out in the last decade. It reminded me so much of the 360 era. It was a high quality, entertaining, funny game with excellent gameplay and it didn’t overstay its welcome, unlike most games that have come out recently.
