Welcome to another weekend! As usual, there's plenty to enjoy on Xbox over the next couple of days including a bunch of new Xbox Game Pass titles, various Free Play Days offerings and a wide selection of great discounts.
Here's what we're playing this weekend:
Fraser Gilbert, Editor
I suppose now that the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is on Xbox Game Pass, it'd be rude not to go back and play a bit of it. Everyone has their favourite of the three games, and since the Trilogy released, it's actually become the first one for me. There's something about it that I just love... I can pretty much speedrun it at this point!
Beyond that, we've been watching the Jurassic Park films over the past couple of weeks (I'd only ever seen the first one until then, and to be honest I don't think I was missing much!), so Jurassic World Evolution 2 on Xbox Game Pass is firmly within my sights. Don't know what to expect, but I hear it's pretty good - so let's give a try.
Have a good weekend, folks!
What will you be playing on Xbox this weekend? Let us know down in the comments below.

Since last week I’ve mainly played:
Nobody wants to die - Really enjoyed this game! Its a bit slow at times perhaps but its a good story, great setting and pretty good puzzles/clues to solve. Its also pretty short so I’ve managed to finish and platinum it in about 5-6 hours. If you like these kinds of games I can really recommend it 🙂
Next up is Stellar Blade 🙂
I am still deep into Path of Exile.
The beauty of a game like PoE when you haven't played it for a couple of years is that there are so many things to try out
I really should focus on one build but I keep seeing things I want to try out or skill interactions that look fun. With the league mechanics showering you with loot it's quite easy soo six lvl 80 + characters later. I will pick one and do maps eventually honest 😉
Still grinding out tfd meself, got ult ajax done just now, should be able to get ult valby today as well and reach mr18.
Beyond that some the finals to get up in wt I suppose.
Probably something casual to wind down at some point today. I might replay The Exit 8 because my son is really curious about it. I dunno. Feels like most of this year I’ve been waiting for the next big game and hopefully Wukong is that game! Not long now!
If that one doesn’t do it, at least September is loaded with three games I already know I’ll like, same with October. I’ve waited most of the year for new games I’ve liked, I can wait a little longer and play the retro stuff I love til then.
I'm replaying Mass Effect Andromeda. I'm in a bit of a gaming slump atm (Baldur's Gate 3 is too expensive and DA The Veilguard is too far off). Hope everyone has a nice weekend!
Playing This Bed We Made, which I picked up after reading the story on this site the other day. So far so good, as it’s set in Montreal I chose French dialogue with English subtitles.
I’ll also probably do some more on 7 Days to Die, I’m on day 32 now, a lot better armed and equipped and now starting to take on some more challenging places.
If I have time, I may also take a look at the remastered Dooms.
I'll be playing some Dungeons of Hinterberg. I honestly didn't really know to expect before starting it a few days ago. I've done about 6 dungeons so far and it's brilliant.
Been trying to clear my backlog a little and was in the mood for an open world/sandbox game so I'm playing Watchdogs 2. So far, I like the first one better but it's kind of fun.
Not had to time to play anything for a month or more now. Was working through Order 1886 and might be able to squeeze some
In later.
Have fun everyone
On Steam Deck I squeezed in a bit of Sekiro last night. Then, after the kids went to bed, I started Kumitsu-Gami Path of the Goddess on Game Pass. PotG is very much a “just one more round” kind of game, I played four or five levels after only intending to play one, I’m really loving it so far
@gravelmonkey The Order 1886 gets a ton of hate but I personally loved it. I even enjoyed the short run time, I don’t need every game being 50-100 hours, sometimes you just need a brief 5-10 hour game.
Just like last weekend, I'll continue playing Trails of Cold Steel IV.
Will also probably start reading Fate/stay night Remastered on Switch.
Shadow Warrior 3. Giving it a play before it leaves Game Pass next week and it’s hilariously bat sh1t crazy!! 😂😂 Love the 80’s/90’s vibes, music as well.
It’s not perfect but it’s great fun so this will take up my weekend gaming!
Trials rising, trials fusion and probably a bit of doom and call of duty multiplayer but this weekend is all about the football starting back! Come on United🤺🤯🙏
Lies of P.
Great game.
Copy n paste of Bloodborne which is one of my favourite games in a long time, but still enjoying it.
First off, this Jurassic Park slander must not be allowed to stand. The Lost World is still a solid movie, after that...not so much.
As for gaming, I'm playing through the campaign of Halo 3 in the Master Chief Collection. I gotta say, every moment of the Halo and Halo 2 campaigns were still burned into my memories even after all these years, but not so much for Halo 3.
Wind Waker HD and Nintendo World Championship. If I have time, maybe CoD III Campaign on xbox.
Finally playing Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, I really missed Ichiban.
This morning I played through a couple very, very short free Steam games, both of which were essentially walking sims. The first one was called Cassiculus, and it was kinda dumb; horror themed, had a RE style inventory for no reason, and the one "puzzle" could have been solved by a 3 year old. The other was called Off-Peak. It was surreal, and at least more environmentally interesting than the other game. You just kinda wander around a bizarre train station, listening to a few people talk if you want to, find a few pieces of a train ticket, and then the game is over. It's supposed to be a prologue to a different game called The Norwood Suite, which appears to be more of an actual game.
Other than that, I'm playing through the Thomas Porter campaign of The Dark Mod. So far, it's not even close to as good as the William Steele campaign or any of the Thief games (or it's fan campaigns), but maybe it will get better as I get further into it.
Started Ava today. I like it! It is not exactly what I expected. I expected something like pokemon snap or maybe monster sanctuary, but it is not very similar to either. A bit of a surprise, and enjoyable so far
7 days to die level 32 & skylines cities each
50%/50%
World of Warcraft Mists of Pandaria Remix (PC) 9 days left of this event. I enjoyed my time revisiting Pandaria. Got a few things I'd like to do before the end. Like grabbing a few armor sets.
Borderlands 3 (PC) In a mood for Borderlands since the movie hits cinemas soon. I neverplayed this one and have heard mixed reviews but I'd figure I'd try it.
Assassin's Creed Origins and some Crash Bandicoot 1 during breaks.
I'm stuck again on BG3 on Series X so this weekend Ill be wrapping up my 3rd playthrough of the fantastic Stellar Blade on PS5 instead. Meanwhile my Switch is collecting dust.
It's been Doom 1/2 for me
@Odium is the Steam Deck worth getting
I am still playing Blue dragon (midway through second disk) but also bought Steamworld Heist 2 as the first one is easily my favourite Steamworld game.

@Vipor007 for me it has been beyond worth it. I don’t get much game time in these days with two kids and working full time but I manage to get some in here and there while on the go. I don’t have a gaming PC so it’s been great playing Steam games on it. Plus, it runs most games phenomenally. Every now and then I have a small issue but it’s rare and usually easily fixed. I definitely recommend it.
The Walking Dead Definitive Collection and Borderlands 1. So much fun
Finally wrapping up Final Fantasy 7 Remake — I had put it aside for 2 or 3 years!
Well here we go with another cool WAYP. Been a nice week around here. Beat Stellar Blade and that game was honestly a whole lot of fun. Decent ending and would definitely look forward to a sequel or DLC. Bosses were the best part of the game easy. Also played some Splatoon 3 this weekend for the Splatfest. Picked Team Bread amd became the rank of Bread Defender. Definitely gonna go hog wild on the next one since it’s the grandfest and most likely the last one. Also did some Kunitsu Gami and I think that game is gonna go on the back burner. Bought Fate/Stay Night Remastered amd Tsukihime a piece of blue glass moon. Excited to get into those after some Witch in the Holy Night. Also got a preorder on Yars Rising. Been excited for that since seeing it in I think a Indie World earlier this year. Think the rest of the weekend is gonna be a Persona 3 Reload session. Think I have it planned out in a way that I should only have 5 or 6 more sessions of that game. Otherwise I’m thinking this week is mostly gonna consist of some Paper Mario, more P3R and Dragons Dogma 2, Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble, Trails Through Daybreak, FFVII Rebirth, and FFXIV Dawntrail, WWE2K24, Luigi’s Mansion 2 and countless more I’m probably missing ahahaha. Goal is same as before just clear out most or all of the first half of years of games before the second half really kicks off. And that second half basically kicks off when Concord comes out. Trying to get a copy of Sea of Stars now too since Sony is gonna take it away. Also gonna try to remember to use my PSN money to preorder Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP and Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. Excited for the end of this month for WWE Bash In Berlin the two currently announced matches of GUNTHER vs Randy Orten and Cody Rhodes vs Kevin Owens have me very excited. Anime of the week gotta go to Mayonaka Punch, VTUBER Legend, Oshi No Ko, and Delicious in Dungeon. Those first two are real standouts of this season of anime they’re excellent. Podcasts of this week gotta go to Castle Superbeast, Big Think Dimension, Into The Aether, RPGsites Tetracast, Minnmax, Jeff Gerstmann, Kit and Krysta, Last Stand Media, Easy Allies, Second Wind, Nextlander, Cultaholic Wrestling and Remap Radio. As always yall stay safe, be splendid to each other. Have a stupendous weekend and of course Happy Gaming.
Need to complete mario Rabbids 2, but kinda got sucked into Bloodstained - Ritual of the night. Not the best game of its genre, but still decent fun clearly. Otherwise I'd feel motivated to go to other games in parallel.
@Odium I absolutely agree, really enjoyed The order 1886 too, hope someday, somebody revisits it. Kinda had a similar experience recently when I tried Ryse Son of Rome, which I also enjoyed quite a lot.
Agree on game length, the optimum max is 30 ish hours imo, less that that is also brilliant for many games.
@Stamnoso I completely agree, 20 to 30 hours is the sweet spot for most games. Sure, The Order would be great a little longer but it was fine the length it was.
I played a bit of Ryse and thought it was really good, it just wasn’t what I wanted to play at the time. I want to get back into it.
