So, alongside Xbox's big push towards an Unreal Engine 5 shaped future for Halo, Microsoft's long-term steward of the franchise will be no more - in name anyway. Yep, 343 Industries will soon become Halo Studios, which poses the question - which is the best Halo game that 343 has produced?
We're going to skip The Master Chief Collection as an option here for obvious reasons - that'd be cheating, it's a whole dang collection of amazing titles! But, if you pull Halo 4 out of that collection, you've got that, alongside Halo 5 and Halo Infinite as your choices here.
This is honestly a tough one to call! Halo 4 marked 343's first effort after Bungie wrapped their Halo time up with Reach, and we really liked the campaign on this late Xbox 360-era title. Halo 5 multiplayer had some great features going for it — including the underrated Warzone mode — while Halo Infinite is probably 343's most consistent title overall.
Right, before we throw this poll down below and let you decide, we'll also mention that up above is a lovely little discussion on the future of Halo from our very own YouTube channel. In there, we go over some of these 343 titles and what we personally think of them, so if you'd like to give that a watch, do go ahead!
Right, come on then, which is the best 343 Industries Halo game? Tell us why in the comments!

Contrary to popular opinion I really liked Halo 4. And it's my second favourite Halo game with the first being the original.
@GADG3Tx87 The music in Halo 4 slaaaaaps
@GADG3Tx87 I took a day off bought the limited editon bookcover edition got the Tritton Halo 4 headset I was ready but was so dissapointed I can't even express myself how much off ***** show it was.... Prometheans suck big time really dislike them the coloring everything was a big turn off for me.
I disliked the Jiralhanae (Brutes) because of there attitude and overall sense of we want to be superior (like humas do to) but they fit in nicely but the Prometheans was to me a wrong choice beside many other things.
Halo 4 ruined Halo for me I did not even play 5... I tried Infinite for a bit but 4 ruined it all for me.
I still play the Master Chief edition a couple times a year but 4,5 and Infinite no thank you.
@GADG3Tx87 Halo 4 was great but I picked Infinite because it was even better.
I loved 5 too. It was way ahead of its time as a movement shooter. It didn’t play like any other Halo game but I wish it gained more fans because it was the only game where I felt like a walking tank. The feeling of power in that game was amazing.
Halo Infinite is easily 343i's best campaign. I don't play anything other than the campaign, so I cannot speak to any other component of their releases.
Until this year, I hadn't played any of the Halo campaigns in co-op, and have played each of them multiple times, including soloing each on Legendary,.
For me, out of the three campaigns, Infinite was the most fun on Legendary, with some brutally hard parts to get past.
5 is easily the worst of this list, even though that does not make it a bad game in and of itself. It's just not as good as the others. What I particularly disliked about 5 was the disjointed narrative, where one moment you were playing as the Master Chief, and then next, you weren't! The game looked and played superbly, but I just didn't like the story, which was not the case with Infinite, where the story was pretty decent. I'm not suggesting it was the best of the entire series (for me that was O.D.S.T.) but of the three 343i games, Infinite was their best...
Halo 5 was the weakest one, but I still enjoyed it. Honestly I loved Halo Infinite. To me it felt like I was playing Halo again for the first time and I had so much fun with it. I can't for the life of me figure out why people don't like it.
Also, Halo 4 was pretty great. Excellent visuals, excellent gameplay, and I thought the prometheans were really cool enemies. Different from the Bungie Halos for sure, but I honestly felt like they nailed it and it's such a superb game.
I recognize I'm in the minority here, but I don't understand the issues people had with 4/Infinite. I get 5 was weak in comparison, but man Infinite was so good to me.
You and I, @SodaPop6548, are very much singing from the same hymn sheet...! 😊
Didn't like infinite picked halo 4 as my favorite hated the far cry gameplay in halo infinite just couldn't take to it weakest game of the series imo!
Guardians had the best multiplayer though by miles!
Single player: Infinite
Multiplayer: 4
For out right action and getting stuck in Halo 5.
For exploration and something a bit different Halo Infinite, really enjoyed the gun play grappling hook.
Halo Infinite could have been so much and should have just released on Series x as a campaign to start with in a gorgeous open world with different biomes, weather effects etc the list goes on.
Xbox developers still have the same issues today which is why they will never get the best out of the series x, but that is down to the strategy Microsoft wants to take.
Make for all devices, a Jack of all trades and not a single console, and master of none.
Probably Halo 4. It had an awful advertising campaign, but the gameplay was solid and the story was interesting if poorly delivered! Music was great too. Didn't play the MP.
5 sucked balls. felt more like a side game.
Glad to see 5, so far behind. That’s the only Halo game I truly hated.
Infinite for me, it’s not the best Halo, but I think it’s the best feeling Halo from a gameplay perspective and I think it’s the most fun I’ve had with Halo since Reach.
Infinite because the gameplay was at its best for the entire saga imo, they really had a solid foundation but the campaign fell short and they took 2 years to take the multiplayer out of beta, but still better than Halo 4 (my second pick) and Halo 5 which nearly killed the saga tbh.
I've never played a bad Halo game, but Infinite was exceptionally good out of the three listed. Halo is probably my favorite gaming franchise. Too many great memories. Especially with the first three in the series.
I love all 3 but Halo Infinite is nearly perfect.
Should have “none” as an option. Because none of them are good, especially in the campaign
People hate on the 343 games a bit too much if you ask me. They aren’t great or anything, but they’re very playable.
Toss up between 4 and Infinite.
I played a lot of 5 when it came out, and while parts of it are okay, the awful companion AI and awful plot make it by far the weakest entry in the series.
I think they nailed the core gameplay in infinite and there were lots of variations in the banished enemy variety. The Prometheans from 4 and 5 were just awful enemy design. But still prefer the bungie era.
Infinite more than the other two combined and even then it's not close. The multiplayer in 4 and 5 are f**king ass. Infinite multiplayer might be the very best of the entire series.
The campaigns in all 3 are dog**** so that's a wash.
Halo Infinite, an unexpectedly excellent game after the most disappointing one.
I only played 1 to 3 and it was a long time ago, can't say I remember much about them. Played 1 again recently and I want to play them all, so will get to these in the end, someday! That said, interesting to see what people got to say about these, I've heard such mixed opinions.
I voted for Halo 5, not because it’s my favorite of the three, but because I do love it, and I don’t understand all the hate it gets. And in case anyone wonders, I’m talking about the campaign specifically. I never play multiplayer.
Halo 4 wins for me. Halo Infinite has best gameplay, but that’s not enough when the rest of the package underwhelms. If Infinite had campaign DLC that actually expanded on the narrative and biomes then maybe that could’ve overall been my favourite. But now that we know that Halo is being completely rebooted then Infinite is left as narratively unfinished and disjointed - much like Halo 5, yet with much less variety through the campaign in terms of environments and set pieces. Infinite really falls short for me honestly as it doesn’t feel like a complete product, it’s chapter one of an unfinished narrative that will never be concluded. It didn’t have to be that way, but that’s where we’ve ended up. Halo 4 feels like the most cohesive game that can standalone on its own merits and in my opinion has the best narrative.
@HelloCraigo come on bruv, I just got off my Halo 4 OST addiction... Here we go again!
Halo 5 could have been my favourite if two conditions were met:
(1) The plot actually made some sense and featured even just 2 more levels with Chief's team.
At least they followed up on Halo 4's Spartan Ops story... Kind of. Ugh.
(2) The multiplayer dialed down the microtransaction card system (req packs and whatnot). It wasn't egregiously annoying most of the time, but it could feel a bit oppressive and grubby.
Halo Infinite would've been my favourite, even in an unfinished state, if it had properly followed up on Halo 5 and Wars 2. There's an entire game's worth of plot to cover in-between Halo Wars 2 and Infinite, and I'm not sure that the book released in that timeframe is adequate.
Also, why the hell a six-month gap with little intermittent backstory to go over during the campaign?
At least Legendary campaign wasn't obnoxious and felt doable all around.
Halo 4 could've used a season 2 for Spartan Ops, but it was very solid even with having to get used to "sandbox" changes for multiplayer. Well-produced (good presentation) and feature-complete, too, so it wins. I was also 25 when it came out so still in my gaming prime and kicking arse at it, lol.
@Jark just blast 'Green and Blue' on repeat all weekend, and life will be stellar
I love the halo franchise in general and the books go deep within the lore. I love the 4th game because that one I felt a connection when I bought way back then I think it stands out amongst the others but halo 5 is still a good time I love that game for different reasons and halo infinte was a brought back to the formula so to speak it felt fresh and playing through these series again I just love them sooo much I know a lot of pple didn't like halo 5 but I love it. It may not be the best in the series but that one is special to me as well but I love the halo series in general and look forward to what halo studios will have in store only time can tell.
Halo Infinite is my favorite FPS and prob in my top 5 games of all time. It is just so much fun to play (keep in mind i only play campaign i don't know about multiplayer)
Well out of the 343 era of 1 Remastered, 4, 5, Infinite, MMC and Halo 2 remake (some parts were so bad I had to switch back to Halo 2 original graphics I couldn't see in 1 level or area the lighting/shadows were so bad, maybe they fixed it but when it came out it was really bad) and Halo Wars 2 I'd say either 1 remastered (even if an ok remaster), 4 or Halo Wars 2 even if they didn't even make it. XD
Their era is 'ok' but hardly that memorable or titles I'd go back to.
I bought Halo 2 and the Collectors disk so I'm good to experience the original now. I bought it on a whim but with the collectors disk I'm happy, pretty cool find for sure for $3 for both so $6. Spent more than that on more games (Xbox OG games I'd wanted for a long time, some racing hidden gems, PS3, PS2, Splinter Cell Conviction Preorder bonus that just happened to be there because why not) but that's besides the point.
the master chief collection 😂
but seriously i voted 4
