Earlier this week, we got some surprise news about the Hi-Fi RUSH developer Tango Gameworks being resurrected by the South Korean company Krafton - known for publishing titles like PUBG.

In the announcement, it was mentioned how this deal included the rights to the developer's 2023 Game Pass hit. However, in case you were wondering, game website MP1st has now confirmed with Krafton that the publisher has acquired "only the Hi-Fi Rush IP and the development staff of Tango Gameworks".

MP1st: We reached out to Krafton [asking] whether this acquisition meant that Krafton now owns the rights to The Evil Within, Ghostwire Tokyo franchises, and a PR rep confirmed it’s only Hi-Fi Rush stating, “It does not, KRAFTON is acquiring only the HI-FI RUSH IP and the development staff of Tango Gameworks.”

To reiterate, series like The Evil Within and Ghostwire: Tokyo are no longer under the guidance of Tango Gameworks. As noted by the source, it means if Tango ever wanted to do another entry for one of its existing series, it might need to jump through a few hoops. Keep in mind that the founder Shinji Mikami has also left the studio.

Of course, there's also nothing necessarily stopping the Japanese developer from making games inspired by certain series it may have worked on in the past.

In the same announcement earlier this week, Krafton said its acquisition of Tango Gameworks would have "no impact" on the availability of the developer's existing game catalog.

What are your thoughts about Tango walking away with Hi-Fi Rush? Let us know in the comments.
