It feels like it's gone under the radar somewhat over the past few weeks, but we've got a new Xbox first-party release on the way in the near future! Age of Mythology: Retold officially releases for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC on September 4th, 2024, and those who are really keen can actually start playing later this month.
As usual, Xbox is offering a special Premium Upgrade Edition for Age of Mythology: Retold's release, which gives Xbox Game Pass members early access from August 28th along with a few extra in-game bonuses. It retails for just £19.99 / $24.99 on the Xbox Store, although keep in mind that you don't get to own the full game itself this way.
In terms of the game itself, Age of Mythology: Retold is essentially a reimagining of the classic 2002 strategy title, blending the "best elements" of that experience with "modern real-time strategy design and visuals".
"From the creators of the award-winning Age of Empires franchise, Age of Mythology: Retold goes beyond history to a mythical age where gods, monsters, and humans collide. Combining the best elements of the beloved Age of Mythology with modern real-time strategy design and visuals, Retold is an epic and innovative experience for old and new players alike. Secure your domain, command legendary monsters, and call upon the power of the gods to crush your enemies."
Everything we've seen of this game so far suggests it's going to be an excellent addition to the Xbox and PC Game Pass libraries, but how do you feel about it? Have you been waiting 22 years for this?! Tell us in the poll and comments.

I’ll definitely play it at some point, but not at launch as it’s release date sits between 2 other games I’ll be getting - Star Wars Outlaws and Astro bot.
I'm pretty excited. I love a good rts. I will probably play 99% of this on pc game pass but will at least try it on one of the consoles to see how they mapped the controls.
I still hate the "early access" gimmick though. Day 1 on game pass continues to be a lie.
I’m not so excited… got way more games that I am interested in… not that the game won’t be great - just not in my wheelhouse….
It's not my genre, so I'll probably play it but I'm not particularly excited.
However, for those who like RTS I think it will be one of the great games of the year.
Not all at excited or interested, only because RTS games are really not my thing. But with my limited knowledge of the genre and on the outside looking in, the game looks like it'll be a good time for fans.
Not interested at all sadly. My RTS days are gone.
Really can't wait for this one, I love RTS games and AoE2 reignited my love for the genre, 4 was also awesome so I'm on count down for this one.
Frustrated with the early access BS again though, not a big deal as always willing to wait but it does leave a bit of a bad taste in the mouth so to speak.
Can't wait, looks great. Dosen't bother me if people want to pay to play earlier, gives more money to Microsoft and its no different to when a selected amount of players get a beta of a game.
I'm not into RTS so this is about as exciting as a dentist appointment.
I hope it's a 10/10 for people who love the genre though.
The series that got me into PC gaming and RTS games. I am beyond hyped. Atlantians building walled turtle cities all over again! Building a new PC next year so will pick up all the age of remake games.
Now that I have a gaming PC - which is a freakin' beast, by the way - I should really dive back into the world of RTS games.
I used to really love the genre back in the day - especially Starcraft, Red Alert, and Rise of Nations (which is on PC Game Pass). I got a little bit into the "Age of" series, but not as much as the aforementioned games.
I used to play age of empires 2 for hours and hours when it came out and had great memories of it… I’m Interested in this as never played anything after 2. Hoping to pick it up at some point but the backlog is just so big at the moment
I couldn’t care less about it but I’m hoping it’s great for those who are excited about it.
This is a very classic PC game and if I had more time, I would give it a shot. Unfortunately, I'm old.
