@Decimateh Yea definitely. I just went with the 2025 dated games. I like Ghost of Tsushima but people really are “anticipating” a sequel to that over something like South of Midnight or seeing a reboot to the dormant Fable.
@TeiGekiLord yea MS aren’t saints but you’re missing my point. They are doing that themselves and earning the money themselves. The revenue from Xbox ports on Playstation is basically Xbox handing Playstation funding to screw over Xbox. It’s a different thing. I’m saying they should stop encouraging that.
Playstation are scummy but their own success is their own success.
@Sol4ris as well as slipping cheques to keep more games like Black Myth and Stellar Blade off of Xbox. Phil explained that in court. It’s literally happening and will continue to happen.
Playstation investing in their First Party studios and keeping them exclusive is all well and good. It’s the third party deals that are BS.
I don’t have an issue with the play anywhere marketing. I think it’s actually good. I don’t even have an issue with porting to Nintendo.
My issue is specifically with Playstation and here is why:
Phil Spencer already acknowledged that Playstation would use revenue from games on their system, such as Sea of Thieves or Indiana Jones, to fund more timed and permanent exclusives.
It’s as simple as that.
Making games available to more people isn’t spitting on Xbox fans. But knowing that Playstation will do the above, and then continuing to give them ports to help fund that, is pretty disrespectful.
If Halo goes to Playstation and sells really well. What do you think PlayStation is going to do with that money?
Infinite Wealth is incredible and neck and neck with Balatro for my GOTY but not sure Free Play Days is enough to get through it! (Might be for someone though 🤷♂️). It’s also like the 10th chronological game so if you don’t know what to expect it’s also not the best place to start.
The fact everyone seems to miss is that, where possible, Microsoft wants parity between PC and console gamepass. So when they release these games they will come to both.
That means re-working old CODs for the Microsoft Store on PC etc. Including the 360 ones!
If Sony had actually published this they would be benefitting from it but now they get no benefit and it’s on Xbox anyway. Should have got there first but 🤷♂️
@Banjo- nah it’s a confusing scenario and now @Godot25 is saying Kojima Productions have the IP rights which would be awesome. Hope we see the sequel on Xbox too!
I want the Total War games to go on sale on the Xbox PC store. Otherwise not sure what else i’m looking for really. Doubt Dead Rising DR will be discounted much.
Xbox probably wondering why they bothered with backwards compatibility when every game gets a remaster. At least these work well on Series X; which is where I picked up my DA2 decade old playthrough and finished it. And also mopped up the last few achievements from my DA Origins playthrough I started in 2009.
@GeeEssEff you are probably right about the single player games yea.
However it’s so thick to me that they didn’t try it with Concord. I think it was a stubbornness (standard for Sony) but potentially they learnt a lesson there. It could have actually saved the game depending on how they worked it. But too late now obviously.
@GeeEssEff I actually don’t think it’s a silly take. I think we are at a point now where Xbox and Playstation could literally announce they are doing… anything. By that I mean that everything has become so unpredictable. What crazy thing will they do next? (Nintendo has always been crazy and unpredictable).
This extends to how they perceive success currently so I couldn’t tell you if they are genuinely happy with CODs success or not. And because of Gamepass; I don’t think even Microsoft really knows at this point. COD being in Gamepass day one obviously gives you immediate sales figures to report etc as well but the long term benefits of it coming to the subscription service, along with the “teaching” to the consumer that all of them will go to GP going forward, will take a while to reveal themselves. Think it’s still a long game.
@somnambulance haha Jamboree is actually pretty good (I love Mario Party too). I’m not even sure what my list is yet either but i’ve no doubt Indy will be on it. Kind of crazy but actually feels like this year may belong to Sega & Atlus for a lot of people. I have two of their games on mine and haven’t even tried Metaphor.
@somnambulance knowing Xbox (or at least trying to) they probably set that date because it misses the award show. They probably think thats the best strategy. 🤦♂️
I will always buy for Xbox where I can. And Play anywhere is awesome so I will opt for that too; meaning I can play on Xbox and Legion Go. But it will always be Xbox over Switch or PS for multiplatform.
@Browntrouser it’s unlikely but it ultimately comes down to the shareholders. Even Sony answers to them. If Marathon does well on Xbox it might open a door for some more multiplayer games.
Hopefully not. And hopefully people will actually call it out instead of rolling over for it if it does happen. Make ABK games multiplat for the revenue, and Zenimax games multiplat if you have to. But XGS games should be exclusive. Especially Halo, Gears and Forza (and Fable).
But hey we know that it’s going in a different direction. Industry led by Geoff Keighley letting it happen and celebrating it.
@FraserG seems off topic but it genuinely isn’t… have you ever considered writing about Geoff Keighley’s bias towards Playstation? I genuinely wish he would get called out for it. His damage control over this Pro reveal has already been above and beyond. Having someone with that much power in controlling what we see and hear at these “events” is so damaging for Xbox.
@kuu_nousee oh 100%, yea they always have been - even as far as their naming conventions and their release cadences (nothing for months then like 5 big rpgs in 2 weeks)
Square Enix is actually releasing Visions of Mana and Dragon Quest III as play anywhere which is awesome support. I want more companies to do that. I can play on my Series X and then move to my Legion Go. All with 1 digital copy.
Also remember SE can’t put their games on Gamepass (which is always an attractive option if sales have dried up) if the games aren’t on the system in the first place.
Will be glad if they improve their Xbox support for sure.
Thought the Castlevania collection was exclusive then! So happy it was on Xbox.
Fun fact: I did a whole youtube series on Tales of Graces F - was like 70 hours or something. And then I deleted it all like a year later because I just hated how ***** I was at game commentary. Good times.
Taking off platform fees would make quite a dent though right. Wouldn’t it be 30%? So that $40m in revenue then becomes $28m; which is great don’t get me wrong. But you’ve also given $12m to Sony for doing absolutely nothing which they will now use to get some more exclusives. Horray!
@Fiendish-Beaver It seems like they are about to get Indiana Jones and Doom The Dark Ages very close together. Which is around £120 for 2 games. But I genuinely think they will pay it rather than getting Gamepass.
@NEStalgia Sony will even be able to dictate the dev payout ratio so they can increase their own cut; which would impact Microsoft as a third party publisher.
And don’t forget @everyone that this will be the end of sites like PureXbox.
@Fenbops I think people forget even Sony answers to its shareholders. If that is deemed the way to make money then it will happen. But Xbox has really screwed itself. Weirdly though I feel better about the official announcement than I do all the “insiders” spreading the news themselves.
It’s all such a shame and it’s not going to lead anywhere good for the industry in my opinion. Despite the media trying desperately to tell me it is.
Not for me - which is unfortunate as there seems to be a new game in this genre every week. But I just can’t get into fighting the same boss 50 times to progress. I don’t have time for that.
I have heard this is less of a soulslike but still difficult; but still 🤷♂️

Re: Xbox Reporter Lavishes Praise On Fable Reboot After Seeing Early Alpha Footage
Not in the Game Awards most anticipated. Neither is Doom or South of Midnight, of course.
Couldn’t have that could we Geoff?
Re: Phil Spencer Explains Why 'This Is An Xbox' Will Be Beneficial To Console Owners
@TeiGekiLord welcome to like 6 comments ago. That’s what i’m saying. They are being thick.
Re: Phil Spencer Explains Why 'This Is An Xbox' Will Be Beneficial To Console Owners
@TeiGekiLord is it that hard to read what I wrote? If you want me to say MS are scummy then ok they are scummy.
Are Playstation helping Xbox become more scummy? No, because that would be thick.
Are Xbox helping Playstation become more scummy? Yes. 🤷♂️

Re: Surprise! Death Stranding Director's Cut Is Now Available On Xbox Series X|S
@Banjo- the original non-director’s cut was published by 505 on PC
Re: Surprise! Death Stranding Director's Cut Is Now Available On Xbox Series X|S
This one is published by 505 but looks like Sony had to give them permission so…

Re: Bungie Provides Dev Update On Marathon, Encourages Xbox Fans To 'Wish List'
@IOI that would be wild if you mean they just shut the Xbox servers down just to make it exclusive after all.
I actually think it’s a good idea to support this on Xbox if you want to encourage more multiplayer Playstation games on Xbox like Helldivers.
Re: 10 Years On, 'Project Spark' Remains One Of The Most Ambitious Xbox Titles Of All Time
I really enjoyed Project Spark! Even played the Conker game they built inside it. Was really fun overall and I enjoyed making some levels.

Re: Limited Run Is Releasing Seven Physical 'Yakuza' Games For Xbox
I think this is awesome. I would stretch for the special editions but $75 x 7 is $525 🫣 plus taxes and shipping to the UK.
So yea… standard for me still at least for now. I actually love these games and want to support them on Xbox as much as possible.

Re: Review: Metaphor: ReFantazio - Atlus Proves It's Still The King of JRPG-Land
The reviews are insane. Thinking to ignore the achievements and just play through this because they become a bit of a chore with these Atlus games.
Re: Bethesda Unveils Custom Indiana Jones Xbox Series X Console
Im actually glad these aren’t for sale as I would buy every single one. And be broke(r).

Re: Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Apparently Spotted On Xbox
Man i’ve bought these digitally on Playstation and physically on Switch… and only gone through 1 & 4 so far so will be getting them all again on Xbox!

Is this the quickest after launch that a game got an HD Remaster?
Also sucks about the physical for Xbox being LRG and been and gone. Standard these days.
Re: Looney Tunes Is Bringing Its 'Wacky World Of Sports' To Xbox This Month
I actually think this looks fun. Just not £40 fun.

I wonder if Marathon will stay multiplat after all the Bungie shenanigans.
If you want PS to release Xbox games that will be your chance to show them!

@TheMightyAnt won’t be happy!

Re: Former Xbox Exec Defends Phil Spencer's Recent Decisions As Head Of Xbox
I guess you have to see it like:
In 2020 Sony paid for 1 year timed exclusivity for Deathloop and Ghostwire (and potentially Starfield if they had more time).
But now it’s Xbox getting games like Starfield, Hi-Fi Rush and Indiana Jones first.
Still a better position to be in. But yea I don’t agree with the decisions at all. Microsoft threw in Xbox’s towel for them.
I actually think more people (especially those with larger platforms) should have pushed back on it.
Re: Despite Its Xbox Delay, Black Myth: Wukong Is Already A Massive Success
