It's almost time to finish up with 2024 and look ahead to a busy 2025, and as we peek around the corner at the early months of next year, it seems there's a good chance we'll be getting two first-party releases from Xbox very soon.
The first of these has already been confirmed in the form of Avowed. Obsidian's fantasy RPG is set to arrive on Xbox Game Pass in the middle of February, and there's a certainly a lot of hope that it'll turn out to be something great.
But what'll come next? Well, the new rumour is that South of Midnight might release in March of 2025.
This was suggested by well-known Xbox leaker eXtas1s on their YouTube channel recently, and they also mentioned that it could potentially be getting a release date reveal at The Game Awards 2024 this week.
However, Windows Central's Jez Corden appeared to deny this when it was mentioned on social media over the weekend, perhaps indicating that the game could get a reveal at an Xbox Developer Direct event in January instead.
The person who revealed this information is usually very reliable when it comes to leaks, so either their sources have simply got their facts wrong on this occasion, or The Game Awards just isn't the destination for its release date.
Either way, we wouldn't be surprised to see South of Midnight slotting into the early 2025 lineup for Xbox's first-party slate, especially considering its Art and Music boxset looks set to arrive in April. It's worth taking the latest rumours with a pinch of salt, but here's hoping we'll have two (or more!) new Xbox releases to check out in the coming months.
