A new year is almost upon us! Xbox Game Pass appears to have finished up for 2024 now, but as we look ahead to January 2025, five titles have already been confirmed for the service - and there's probably a lot more to come.
The highlights so far are probably Eternal Strands, Sniper Elite: Resistance and Citizen Sleeper 2, all of which are brand-new 'day one' additions to Xbox Game Pass, and we can't wait to check them out in just over a month's time.
We'll obviously keep you in the loop about January 2025's Xbox Game Pass titles as they're announced over the coming weeks, but for now, let's take a look at the five games that have been confirmed for next month already:
Carrion (January 2)
"CARRION is a reverse horror game in which you assume the role of an amorphous creature of unknown origin. Stalk and consume those that imprisoned you to spread fear and panic throughout the facility. Grow and evolve as you tear down this prison and acquire more and more devastating abilities on the path to retribution."
Road 96 (January 7)
"Road 96 is a crazy, beautiful road-trip. The discovery of exciting places, and unusual people on your own personal journey to freedom. Your choices change your adventure, change people, change the world. There are thousands of routes along Road 96. Which one will you take?"
Eternal Strands (January 28)
"Cast and combine frost, flame, and kinetic magic to take down massive 25-meter foes in the new fantasy action-adventure game, Eternal Strands."
Sniper Elite: Resistance (January 30)
"Offering unparalleled sniping mechanics, stealth and tactical third-person combat, Sniper Elite: Resistance turns the attention of the award-winning series towards a hidden war, far from the front lines, deep within the heart of occupied France."
Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector (January 31)
"A dice-driven RPG, in a human and heartfelt sci-fi world. You are an escaped android, with a malfunctioning body, a price on your head and no memory of your past. Get a ship, find a crew, and take on contracts while you navigate across the Starward Belt."

Eternal Strands looks really good. Game Pass still a great value as always.
Carrion is awesome but i’m sure I played both that and Road 96 on Gamepass in the past. I think they are repeats.
@K1LLEGAL Road 96 for sure is. It’s one of those games that Phil and Aaron were gushing about for being a great grab on Gamepass during its original run.
Road 96 is basically a perfect Gamepass game. It’s a 7/10-ish short narrative roguelike-ish. It’s really unique and memorable, but not exactly GotY tier, but it’s the type of game that’ll hit personal year end top 20 lists for people that enjoy it, for perspective. I love when games like this come to the service because it gives them a lot of exposure that they likely wouldn’t have otherwise. The game’s so quick that I wouldn’t sleep on it unless you’re averse to its politics. It’s definitely a political game. I’m a non-political person, myself, but I enjoyed it. It’s a roguelike in the choices you make rather than the gameplay you do, which is certainly different from most other games.
Sniper Elite Resistance is my highly anticipated game for the start of next year. SE5 is one of my all time favorite (stealth) games, and I’m always looking for an excuse to jump back into this type of world, even if it will be more of the same.
Very meaty month, citizen sleeper alone is enough for me, eternal strands also seem interesting, welp gotta finish indiana jones quick.
@somnambulance Yea I enjoyed it but not enough to play the cheap prequel. But it was quite memorable.
Carrion though is 🔥
@somnambulance Very well put. The game has a really good original soundtrack if you're into synthwave.
Citizen Sleeper is an incredibly well-written game that completely sucked me into its little world and doesn't take long to finish. Can't wait for the sequel.
I'm ready for a new entry in the Sniper Ghost Warrior series. We are about due for one. I always preferred that series to Elite.
Sniper elite. ..I got all the achievements including dlc in five(thanks gp)...and it made me go buy sniper elite 3 and 4
