You'd think that a lighthearted joke between friends wouldn't require an explanation, but that wasn't the case here! Xbox's social media manager felt forced to explain himself after making a viral PS5 Pro joke this past Friday.
The joke was a response to The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley, who revealed that he'd acquired a 30th Anniversary Edition of the PS5 Pro. In response, the Xbox employee used the "This is an Xbox" marketing slogan to describe the console - which admittedly is kind of the case now that the likes of Sea Of Thieves and Hi-Fi RUSH are on there!
Obviously there wasn't any harm meant with this joke, but it still prompted a reply soon after it was posted:
"Some of y’all take Twitter too seriously. I’m just joking with Geoff."
From what we can see, the majority of commenters took the joke with good humour and simply moved on. Obviously there was criticism as well though - most of which centred around a dislike of the whole "This is an Xbox" campaign.
Anyway, it goes without saying that we don't encourage hassling any Xbox employees on social media, even if they make a joke that you might not be a massive fan of! Social media can be a bit of a nightmare at times, huh?
