Re: Xbox's Activision Blizzard Deal Officially Blocked In The UK

K1LLEGAL

@Stocksy To be honest; your comment regarding “Xbox will only release so many in a calendar year” is something I hadn’t really thought of.

Square Enix likes to step over themselves waiting a few months then releasing like 9 games in the space of 4 months. And it doesn’t seem to do them any favours. So yea good point well made.

I mean… really stupid of course. Xbox going to be sitting here eventually with 69B (minus any fees) and a hole in their pocket the shape of Sega or Ubisoft etc.

The UK don’t really get anything right tbh. The economy is so f*d right now why not just damage it further.

“The UK is closed for business” indeed.

Re: New Rumour Weighs In On Difficulties Between Xbox And Square Enix

Those 2 follow-ups tweets from the other twitter users seem like really random responses to the initial tweet. “This isn’t even Xbox’s fault”… like okay but the initial tweet didn’t hint that it was? Maybe I missed something as I don’t really understand twitter.

Anyway would love to know the reason. Maybe Phil Spencer should comment.

Re: The First ID@Xbox Showcase Of 2023 Takes Place This Wednesday

K1LLEGAL

Awesome. I highly recommend people to check out the Kinda Funny XCast with Chris Charla (head of ID@Xbox) from 23rd-ish March. Was very interesting.

Most interesting point to me was how Xbox pays the ID devs for the Xbox version’s development; so essentially makes it free. But don’t block those releases from other consoles; purely pay for the Xbox version.

Also how they are scouting the world for development teams in different countries outside of the usual.

Re: Xbox Misses Out On Yet Another Upcoming Square Enix Release

K1LLEGAL

As Xbox grows (e.g. after the games start coming out from these acquisitions) and its userbase increases, it will be Square Enix that misses the boat. I do understand that their games may not sell as well on Xbox - it’s hard for me to keep them profitable by myself - but thats usually because they are not day one and so have been played somewhere else already. Also yes those user-bases have a Switch or Playstation because you know that is where their games will release.

But it’s almost like Sega and Atlus realised the future potential in Xbox and Square Enix is just oblivious.

Re: Resident Evil 4's Remake Is Already Getting Incredible 10/10 Reviews

K1LLEGAL

@Titntin I just think it’s bonus marketing for Playstation that kind of comes unintentionally. As you say it might be because they sell more on PS, so the publisher sends the PS review copy; or maybe it runs better sometimes? The 2 might run exactly the same but if the review is for the PS version then that is the box art you see on the front page.

I’m not sure how much of a choice the publication gets. I remember recently PushSquare got a review code that PureXbox didn’t; which I think is down to the publisher.

But yea it’s like this whole zeitgeist that seems to work against Xbox. A lot of it is their own doing; for example I see adverts on social media of new release indie games and they have the PS4, PS5 and Switch box art only. Because the Xbox version, whilst still existing, is digital. So yea that’s another piece of marketing Xbox misses out on.

Re: Resident Evil 4's Remake Is Already Getting Incredible 10/10 Reviews

Wish the review code split would be more even across Xbox and Playstation. As it stands everyone seems to get the PS copy and there are never as many reviews for Xbox. So then the PS copy will be plastered on the front page of metacritic and it’s like the Xbox version doesn’t exist (though occasionally it goes the other way).

Re: Starfield Is Launching On Xbox This September, Developer Direct Arriving In June

K1LLEGAL

I’m excited about this. Get it as good as can be. No point releasing a soggy mess and having a 56 metacritic and fixing it after. Right call from MS and, a fair spread of first party throughout the year it seems.
September feels right as well for some reason. Hope it hits that month; but if they are ready for the direct then they are getting there.

If people are worried about companies “lying” about release dates in showcases then expect them to stop showing them at all; not to mention third parties where they can’t be controlled.

Re: Microsoft Granted Access To Certain Sony Docs As FTC Continues To Scrutinise ActiBlizz Deal

K1LLEGAL

@Would_you_kindly you realise Xbox is bringing graphs and stuff to these courts because… they pretty much have to? If Xbox just bought ABK and it all went through fine, then there wouldn’t be any graphs. They are responding to the idea Sony would be kicked out the console market should the acquisition go through; which is insane.

Also just because you show signs of success doesn’t mean you would just stop there. So Sony should just do absolutely nothing now that they are number 1?

Re: Microsoft Granted Access To Certain Sony Docs As FTC Continues To Scrutinise ActiBlizz Deal

K1LLEGAL

@KaijuKaiser tiny examples like Final Fantasy? Also Xbox is offering up COD as multiplatform…. Playstation is not offering up Final Fantasy.

Defending Playstation in the exclusive games department is a joke in my opinion.

@Kaloudz thanks for the read. Interesting that Xbox didn’t push past the Jan 2019 date. They must be confident that holds enough info they require.

Re: Microsoft Granted Access To Certain Sony Docs As FTC Continues To Scrutinise ActiBlizz Deal

K1LLEGAL

@Tharsman yea shame it only goes back to 2019; but a good chunk of Square Enix should get covered.

Good to see Xbox actually ask for this and not sit there like idiots.

@KaijuKaiser maybe Xbox wouldn’t have to make these acquisitions if Sony didn’t pay to stop Xbox users enjoying these games?

I actually want Xbox to purchase Square Enix just to keep all their games multiplatform.

Re: Xbox Boss Phil Spencer Discusses The Importance Of Platform Exclusives

K1LLEGAL

I think it was more like:

SONY: gets 1 year exclusivity for Deathloop.

MICROSOFT: Damn. Thats a shame for our userbase.

SONY: gets 1 year exclusivity for Ghostwire.

MICROSOFT: Damn.

SONY: tries to get 1 year exclusivity for Starfield.

MICROSOFT: Buys Zenimax

SONY: shocked Pikachu face.

… but actually I do think there is something to this. If Sony wasn’t paying to keep games away from Xbox users maybe Xbox wouldn’t have had as much reason to purchase Zenimax. Some may say that Sony showed Microsoft that it was cool to have Zenimax games as exclusives…

Re: Xbox Game Pass Launches Enable 'Secure Success', Says Indie Publisher

K1LLEGAL

@StonyKL Disney was already king before it made those acquisitions. Xbox has been trying to save itself. And you kind of slid there from Gamepass to Acquisitions which are two different topics to debate. With Playstation and Nintendo offering their approaches, and Xbox with the lowest market share by far, Gamepass won’t damage the industry especially as it’s apparently 100% unsustainable. Of course some of Push Square is offering proper discussion; but a lot of it is “Stop having fun!”.
