Re: Obsidian Blasted By Xbox Fans For 'Prioritising' PS5 & Switch Versions Of Pentiment

K1LLEGAL

My issue is more with the lack of Xbox logo anywhere. Why would it not appear when the game loads up. Apparently it just says “Xbox Game Studios presents” as you start a new game but that is it.*

Same with the marketing of the games and the Rare games that hit NSO. Why is it so bad to have the Xbox branding? I thought that was the point.

*Edit: to be clear as people can’t read - it’s only when you start a new playthrough. So if you play through the game once you see the word Xbox once. Where really it should be everytime you boot up the game.

What I don’t understand is… why didn’t we see Xbox’s logo plastered all over this? Why are they so scared to market themselves. It was briefly on the Grounded trailer, not sure if it was in the Pentiment snippet but it wasn’t anywhere to be seen with these. And like it or not Xbox has the rights to these games so not sure why they won’t just show their damn logo.

Re: Hi-Fi RUSH Is Making Its Way To PlayStation 5 Next Month

K1LLEGAL

@Fiendish-Beaver I hope you are wrong too but I fear you are right.

However one positive way to look at it is that Xbox players had to wait 1 year for Deathloop and Ghostwire. And now it’s the other way round with Hi-Fi Rush. Just hope it ends at Bethesda and ABK (Pentiment and Grounded excluded).

Re: Phil Spencer: Xbox's New Plan Is 'Not A Change To Our Fundamental Exclusive Strategy'

K1LLEGAL

I’m happy with their answers and their strategy I guess. I don’t really think the single-player games should be made multiplat but whatever.

I think people want them to give specific answers for every game until the end of time but it just doesn’t work like that. Plans change, strategies change. Who knows where the industry will be in 5 years. Even Playstation is pivoting and I doubt they would specify the exclusivity of all their games coming out in the future too. Especially the live service games.

At some point you just have to trust the product and trust that they want to stay in business.

I think Xbox has an incredible and varied line-up going forward. I hope people can see that and can get involved in Xbox’s games instead of just wishing they come to other platforms. As i’ve said before I understand financial and time restrictions stopping us owning everything but thats just life.

For me - I would rather not wait for games to come to other platforms. That is why I will be playing FF Rebirth in Feb/March this year on Playstation; and will be playing Indiana Jones at the end of the year on Series X. Half of NintendoLife have been asking for Rare Replay since 2015 - almost 9 years. Just buy an Xbox.

Re: Rare Pokes Fun At Xbox Situation With Multiplatform Tease For Sea Of Thieves

@BacklogBrad I thought Hi-Fi Rush was awesome. Possibly my 2023 GOTY. But the first time I played it I thought the first level dragged a bit. So it took a while for me to get back to it. Maybe lots of others felt the same and unfortunately failed to return to it. But yea I do sigh at the fact Xbox players tend to not contribute to the games we really need on the platform.

I just really don’t think they should port out Hi-Fi Rush or Pentiment. Sea of Thieves I would accept if they said the game doesn’t have enough players to continue otherwise - then sure save the game. But I don’t think that is the case. Crazy that this will be the first Rare game on a Playstation.

From Playstation porting to Xbox - I think Marathon will be the test. If Xbox players contribute enough to Marathon’s metrics then you may see other live service games come over but probably the ones based on new IP and not based on Last of Us/GOW/Horizon/Spiderman etc. and no Single-player games.

Returnal is a good call though.

Re: Rare Pokes Fun At Xbox Situation With Multiplatform Tease For Sea Of Thieves

@BacklogBrad I kinda disagree that they do nothing to make someone buy a console. Sure each platforms aims to have a killer-app that is a system selling game. But there is nothing wrong with having a system selling library instead of a single game.

Pentiment, Sea of Thieves and especially Hi-Fi Rush are building blocks in that library. Or they would be if they stayed exclusive.

The library needs to build up until it becomes unmissable. Loads of people on NintendoLife seem to say “I don’t want anything from Xbox” and then follow it up with “except Rare Replay, and Hi-Fi Rush”. Gotta keep the hits coming

Re: Tension Builds As Xbox Prepares For Major 'Business Update Event' This Week

K1LLEGAL

For me I just want XGS to remain exclusive. That’s the main thing. ABK should be multiplatform (outside of any crossover IP projects with other Xbox IP).

With Zenimax, I think they should keep them (mostly) exclusive but I don’t think they will. Though the idea was to bolster their single-player exclusive line-up. So not sure why they would change all that so quickly but God knows what they are doing.

All of this would make people relieved at it only being Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves. When before all the rumours, those 2 going over seemed like a really bad thing.

Also whilst some of the Xbox fanboys on social media have gotten a bit too dramatic; I do think it’s important to let Xbox know what we do and do not want. I think a lot of people in the media have been scared to ask Xbox to keep exclusive games, because they don’t want to be the ones saying “no Playstation should not have access to these games”. But it’s not about stopping people from playing - it’s about keeping the Xbox ecosystem going.

Perhaps this week has been about Xbox taking in all the feedback. Or maybe Phil is saying to Satya “look lets give it a week to see how the internet reacts. I guarantee they won’t like it”….. or whatever.

Re: Xbox Fans Urged To Remain Calm As Emotions Run Wild On Social Media

K1LLEGAL

@JaxonH I basically agree with your comment about what Xbox should be doing. That is my thought too and it blows my mind that Xbox can’t convince Microsoft of it.

You can’t expect everything to change with one game. They need to keep putting them out. It is a snowball effect as every single good exclusive they release, more people are attracted to the ecosystem. Instead, when the first doesn’t change their world, they throw in the towel.

I said the same thing when they release Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon. Yes they had a positive impact on sales in Japan. No it wasn’t enough but had they continued to invest - imagine their JRPG library at this point. The snowball effect would have caught the attention of so many Japanese players. Instead they gave up again pretty much.

This is their time, with so many studios, and great games on the horizon. And now they are deciding nah we can’t do this anymore.

Of course we will see what they say. I feel like maybe Zenimax and ABK are straight up multiplat but who knows. I don’t think that is the end of the world, but still don’t think they should do it. I really don’t think they should make XGS games multiplat though.

Re: Baldur's Gate 3 Dev Gives His 'Optimistic' Thoughts On Xbox-To-PS5 Rumours

K1LLEGAL

@Kaloudz Yea we need to hear it from Xbox themselves ultimately. Every rumour seems to add a new game in, without any source listed at all.

Regardless, if Xbox still gets the games first and they still hit Gamepass day one, and I can still earn achievements… I will still be there playing them on Xbox.

Just don’t tell Xbox that as that just encourages them.

Anyone else think Microsoft has called this decision, and Phil has fought it? He could even walk if this is pushed through over his head. Just adding my own speculation as everyone else is.

Re: Starfield, Indiana Jones And Many Other 'Xbox Exclusives' Could Be Heading To PS5

K1LLEGAL

The twitter conversation is crazy. I don’t like this at all but some of the fanboys on twitter are using the other fanboys as sources. I think we just need to see what Xbox themselves have to say about it.

In recent years, Xbox gamers had to wait a year for Deathloop and Ghostwire, but now they have Zenimax games as 1 year timed exclusives so it’s definitely a better position than it was. But that’s if it stops at Zenimax games.

If it’s the whole slate, I don’t care if you’re a pony or whatever, this will be terrible for competition in the console space; even if it’s good for Microsoft’s wallet.
