@Cashews thanks. I don’t know much about the game so I don’t know if it makes sense for this kind of game or not. Halo or Gears for instance, the maps etc are all there in rotation from the start. I was just passing on info!
I just don’t understand the argument about Cloud in the future being a concern.
The argument is that big tech like Amazon, Apple, Meta, Google and yes Microsoft could compete; which leaves Sony in the dust. But the ABK acquisition only means that A, B and K are all along for the ride with Microsoft. If the CMA successfully blocked the acquisition then… whats the difference? Sony still gets obliterated; and ABK get scooped up by one of the others.
If the concern is Microsoft having a head start in Cloud… how is that a problem. Someone has to go first.
Hopefully we can get some of the mid-era Tony Hawk, Crash and Spyro games added to backwards compatibility and Gamepass. E.g. American Wasteland, Legend of Spyro, Crash Twinsanity etc. With the acquisition there are probably a few licensing issues that just got cleared up in a positive way! (Hexen too right?). This will help bolster that “13% of classic games pre-2010 are preserved” (IGN, Time Extension) by at least a handful of games.

I do need to try Immortality and Tinykin as I have heard good things. Will probably purchase Two Point Campus at some point as it’s one of those I want to own as I am a huge Bullfrog fan and love that style of game.
Great for us that got to enjoy it as it was instead of whinging how unsustainable it is. Been an incredible deal for years. Now it is a slightly less incredible deal.
Its an okay game. Atmosphere is cool but otherwise it’s just okay. I feel like it got bigged up simply because it was on Playstation first and if it had been multiplat it wouldn’t have got all the awards it did.
Excited about whatever they make. I love Psychonauts, Costume Quest and even Spacebase!
Edit: so Double Fine, Id Software and Roundhouse (and The Coalition, technically) are the studios we are waiting to see something from now. Any word on what Roundhouse is up to?
I feel like this is the first we have heard about “other activision console games” being part of the dealings.
However if Sony didn’t agree to them; and the court focuses on COD; then those other games may be exclusive sooner than 2027. Who knows though. Not me.
Also that December 2027 date would set them up nicely to begin the next console generation with a strong exclusive library.
@GamingFan4Lyf i’m extremely interested in how things will go forward when the dust settles. Will Xbox pivot to third party exclusives like Playstation does? Or will the acquisitions continue? And if even Playstation try to acquire someone will there be more scrutiny after this? This whole trial is really fascinating in that way.
@Baler barely any studios the size of Rare are making a game every year now. Even if Rare was still the same staff as before they wouldn’t be releasing at the same cadence as before as games are taking longer and longer to make (unfortunately).
@Reptilio that’s cool. I have my PS5 too, nothing wrong with playing some games on a different system. I have started FFXVI and will play through it and then will be right back on my Xbox.
The 2025 date doesn’t bother me since that is what I was expecting; but obviously if it goes to 2026 and beyond then yea that sucks. But not like we are sitting here doing nothing until then.
@themightyant Sorry you are my #65 but it’s because I was unfortunately blocked by an ultimate otaku.
No doubt Xbox screwed up from 2013ish to at least 2016ish with the closure of Lionhead (okay longer than that; as they started reacquiring in 2018). But even in an alternate universe where they were pumping out games non-stop; no way they should sit there and let Sony keep paying for these games to skip Xbox. I just can’t understand anyone defending Sony’s behaviour; at least to the extent where they think Xbox shouldn’t respond. And there was no other logical reaction to the Zenimax saga than to just acquire them outright and put a stop to Sony’s BS.
Imagine the collaborations that could be possible if Playstation weren’t such a ***** company.
Xbox plays well with Nintendo and we get Banjo in smash, achievements in Minecraft and Ori on Switch, and 2 versions of Goldeneye on modern systems. I hope that continues; and it’s looking like it will. Another way Playstation will miss out; and unfortunately so do we all.
@themightyant In response to your comment #65, from how I understand it; Phil didn’t just randomly come out with this statement regarding Sony spending the revenue to block games from coming to Xbox. He was asked how he felt about selling Xbox games on Playstation… and in that way I would say his response was pretty fair. I mean he was definitely stating the obvious. But it was just an answer to a question…
And after knowing what we know about Sony paying repeatedly to keep games off Xbox from Zenimax (in this case); what would you have suggested Xbox do in response?
@MayaMousavi Yea because PS2 probably couldn’t handle Morrowind. Also Dead Rising? Can’t launch that on PS3 if the console isn’t out either. I’m just pointing out whenever someone makes that argument it’s really flawed. Like Xbox did something wrong? If Xbox 5 launches a year after Playstation 6 you can’t blame Sony for having games on their console. So why blame Xbox?
@MayaMousavi with regards to your Xbox 360 argument; a lot of those games came out before the PS3 was even out. So that’s more Sony’s fault for launching a year later. How could Bethesda release Oblivion for PS3 if the console isn’t even out yet?
Can’t exactly blame Xbox for that. They’re not exactly going to sit around waiting for Playstation to launch to start getting games.
@Traman500 maybe they could outbid one time but this would have been 3 games in a row by the same publisher they would have had to outbid on. At what point does that become a waste of money and it becomes a better deal to just buy the publisher? It may have even been more than 3 games if Xbox hadn’t put a stop to it. Sony basically made Zenimax a better proposition for Xbox. Sucks for them.
@Lastatopiny you’re asking when Xbox has done that but like examples include Rare (Kameo, Viva Pinata, Sea of theives), Obsidian (Pentiment, Grounded, Avowed), plus the new games shown from Compulsion and Inxile… they might not all be award-baiting third-person action games but in my opinion that is a good thing.
@Lastatopiny i still dont get it. You said Sony exclusives are made by Sony devs which is true but they are also made by devs who are not part of Playstation Studios like Square Enix. Also Sony purchased Insomniac so I assume you won’t be counting theirs either? Also you don’t have to consider FFXVI to be exclusive but so far it is.
And you say only Halo and Forza have come from Xbox devs but I just listed others. Not really sure if you’re just trolling or what but it’s not making sense?
We have just had the Xbox showcase which literally showcased the games coming so yea.
Edit: Also in the “best Xbox exclusives” thread you have listed a bunch of playstation exclusives and you have included FFXVI there. As well as 3 Insomniac games.
@Lastatopiny not sure what you mean by this? Final Fantasy XVI isn’t made by Sony devs; neither would KOTOR be. And Pentiment, Grounded, Minecraft Legends, Psychonauts 2, Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite have all come from Xbox devs (excluding Zenimax/Bethesda devs) recently but not sure how far back you want to go… we all know 2022 wasn’t a good year for Xbox. There was also As Dusk Falls from Xbox Publishing (which everyone loves counting as 1 of the 23 studios) and Mighty Doom on mobile from Alphadog (which everyone loves counting as 1 of the 23 studios). Also the Age of Empires series hitting Xbox from World’s Edge and Goldeneye from Rare.
@Krzzystuff I really hope it is brought up. If it’s true then it negates the whole argument. I mean even without acquisitions you can still secure exclusivity; e.g. Final Fantasy. But the Starfield example is just too hypocritical. And also follows on from the 1 year timed exclusivity of Deathloop and Ghostwire. It’s no wonder Xbox just straight up bought Zenimax.
Maybe not the best time with a content lull but I guess they wanted to do it with some breathing room before Starfield. I don’t think it’s the worst increase, and I will probably just keep getting codes from other places anyway.
I think this is an awesome trailer, looks beautiful and i’m not going to sit here counting frames or whatever people do these days. Excited for the game. Even if it looks almost as good as this for the final product then thats awesome. This is even supposed to be a positive article.
And this does have the staple British humour we know and love from Fable so not sure why some aren’t getting the same vibes (sure it looks different but we are in the future now 😮). Glad i’m not as negative on everything as everyone else seems to be - makes me feel cheery by comparison!
It would be better if it was 60FPS but it’s still Starfield and i’m going to enjoy it at 30FPS. It’s a shame the announcement has affected so many people (in different ways). I do think people love to just whinge whinge whinge.
Sorry for those who get motion sickness but everyone else whinging will be there day one regardless. It’s just drama for the sake of it.
It works from Sony’s perspective I guess. I have a PS5 pretty much for Square-Enix and to a lesser extent Insomniac. Though will always buy SE games on Xbox where possible. Doing my bit!
This obviously lines up with their “one a season”. And doesn’t stop them releasing the odd Goldeneye or Age of Empires in between. I think this is a very reasonable approach. You can’t expect them to pump out much more than that. I mean somehow Nintendo does but whatever.
2023: Goldeneye, AOE2, Hi-Fi Rush, Ghostwire, Minecraft Legends, Forza Horizon Rally Adventure, Redfall, AOE4, Starfield, Forza Motorsport.
I would say that is a pretty good output.
2024: Hellblade, Avowed, Flight Sim… hopefully Fable though that may be unlikely.
Would have been good to see Machine Games or Id Software but otherwise this was awesome in my opinion. Great to see what Compulsion and InExile are working on.
Surprised people are hating on it. This was my highlight of the show and what a way to open. Would have been good to see something more in-depth but I wasn’t even sure the game would be there at all.

@Rangers420 I haven’t tried it myself yet but I have seen that when you get to level 10 the game opens up and more maps unlock. For some weird reason?
