@NishimuraX Especially when Nightdive exclusively does remasters! People are always harping about game preservation and then harp even more when remasters help make old games available.
I'd like to see some things that aren't currently backwards compatible like Project Silpheed, Ninety Nine Nights, Condemned 2, or the first Kane and Lynch
It would have to feature re-recorded dialogue and new voice actors for me to consider it. Already have the original version which plays very nicely on Xbox Series.
People were fine paying Switch tax on PC games (especially visual novels) and full AAA prices for extremely cut-down mobile versions of games, so I don't think this is going to be an issue.
Probably not tomorrow, but announcements will follow. Depends on whether Switch 2 can actually run these games or not. Regardless of how powerful the SOC might be, it'll still be constrained by handheld functionality.
@BacklogBrad They're making record profits from their current model, I don't foresee any big push to change that. Plus, the time and money to port these big games to a 237% smaller audience who boast about never paying for games likely won't help much.
This is the game that put the nail in the coffin of me ever trusting game reviewers. Got it for $13 from GameStop and loved every second!
As far as being ported, the studio was dissolved by Square Enix so I'm not sure who would work on it. Maybe if Xbox were to pay them in advance like they did for Octopath Traveler, but it probably wouldn't be worth it.
I don't see Valve agreeing to split royalties for something like this. Giving your userbase another way to avoid paying you also doesn't sound like a good idea...
Shooters and horror are such a great combination! Playing the first F.E.A.R. on Series X after having beat the PS3 version was a transformative experience.
@Millionski If you're into JRPGs and fighting games like I am, PlayStation is the unofficial home of both. It's not even about exclusives, I see those as nice bonuses; the overall selection is just much better-suited to my tastes. 🙂
Xbox is my fill-in-the-blank console. Functional versions of F.E.A.R. 1, The Orange Box, Fallout 3, New Vegas, and Oblivion... boosted versions of Dishonored, Death of the Outsider, Dishonored 2, and Prey. Far Cry games that performed poorly on PS3 or don't quite play nice with PS5. Dead Island Definitive and Riptide where 60FPS is a godsend and quick-time events actually work. The console definitely has a use case for me, but it will always be a sidekick.
@Hurblyburbly It's a conspiracy theory-esque coping mechanism whereby any and all criticism of Xbox games is invalid due to inherent negative bias of reviewers and the media.
Maybe someday all restaurants will serve the same food, while all clothing brands sell exactly the same clothes. Because why should the brick box we walk into matter?
As long as they don't ditch backwards compatibility and FPS Boost, Xbox hardware will have a use-case for me. Consolidating systems is tempting, but playing all 7th-gen games on PS3 isn't as great as my subconscious tries to tell me.
Cutting off Series S parity would be actually killing their brand. Development quibbles aside, it's an interesting strategy that has seemingly worked for Xbox.
@sd7232 Yep, bought it direct from Microsoft on New Year's Eve and estimated delivery is February 11th. There are plenty on eBay if you don't care about being gouged...
I have the special edition galaxy black Series X on the way with 2TB internal. Picked up a used 1TB expansion card from GameStop a few months back, and use a 2TB external SSD for backwards-compatible games.

@WildConcept6 People here were actively cheering the idea of Xbox nerfing its ports.
And the Pro only cost me $187. 😇

Re: Xbox's Next-Gen Vision Could Transform How We Look At Consoles In The Future
If it's just a branded pre-built PC, then I worry about price. Cheapest ones right now are around $700 and usually behind Series X in performance.

Re: Helldivers 2 Xbox Petition Passes 130,000 Signatures, But Don't Get Your Hopes Up
@BacklogBrad Perhaps, but that depends on if they could still turn a profit after all the development costs to cut these things down to Switch level.
