Is The Thing worth £20? Loved the movies, but cant remember whether I enjoyed the game back in the day. It's canon too, and if I recall, answers that long standing question as to whether Kurt Russel's character was a thing or not. Is it worth that cost?
@Kaloudz Depends how much nostalgia you've got for it probably. FWIW, we gave it a "Not Bad" 6/10 in our review:
https://www.purexbox.com/reviews/xbox-series-x/the-thing-remastered
To quote @PJOReilly's intro:
"Here's the thing about The Thing Remastered; it's still very much 2002's The Thing. Which is either a good thing, or a bad thing, depending on how much you like your The Thing." 😅
Can't really express how much I'm enjoying Alan Wake 2.
I do think having the Night Springs DLC side stories integrated into the campaign has really helped both.
You list Assassin's Creed Mirage as 60% off (£17.99 / $19.99) but the Deluxe version is 80% off, just £9.99 in the UK.
@FraserG Wow, that's a lot of things 😅 thanks guys!! I've read that and it kinda makes me feel that I should wait for it to drop in price just a little more. £12 sounds about right for me to feel comfortable taking a gamble. Not so much for the money, but I'll feel less robbed if I lose three hours of life and just a couple of quid only to find out that it's not held up well. 🤣😭
Alan wake and RoboCop are a steal at those prices and guardians of the galaxy is another great game on that list!
@themightyant Good spot and a fantastic deal!
That's now been changed 👍
I’ve been playing Robocop and have been having a blast. I just wish he’d walk a bit faster 😂
@FraserG Yep it's a great deal, I almost bought it on price alone. Then I remembered I hadn't played Odyssey or Valhalla despite owning them and i'm trying to buy less games I won't play immediately. (Still might buy it on price alone. lol)
Robocop is fantastic. Its well worth £20 imo, especially for anyone with a soft spot for the franchise as this was clearly created by fans.
First ever discount on Ninja Gaiden Black, definitely picking that up
For anyone interested in a Diablo style game without the always online nonsense Grim Dawn: Definitive Edition is well worth £15.99.
You get a lot of game for the price with plenty of interesting build options & fun play styles.
@Kaloudz I think it's absolutely worth it. They took a near impossible game to finish (due to easy mode seeming very difficult) to a great remaster that I already played through twice. And yes, the ending does let you know what happened to Kurt Russell. That was worth the price alone, lol. The only complaint for me is that one achievement seems to be glitched and will not unlock, preventing me from reaching 100%. Wish the developers would fix that already.
@Titntin Loved the game. I only wish that they had NG+. The only complaint I have.
Maybe I finally pick up Hogwarts Legacy.
Yep. It's time finally get that The Thing Remaster.
@Kaloudz Loved it back on OG Xbox. Definitely picking up to play again.
I believe Russell was. If watch movie closely, really supports that theroy.
@GuyinPA75 theroooy jeeenkins
Mirage at 12 bucks sounds tempting
Why is it always the deluxe and upper tier editions of games on sale during these sales and not the base games? I don't want the extras, I want the game for cheap.
Just bought Brothers: A tale of two sons remake Played the original version and really liked it, so the remake has been on my wish list for a while. As soon as I saw it reduced to £7.99 I pulled the trigger 😀
@Romans12 Haha, bugged achievements suck. What's the list like, is it fairly obtainable? Or is it quite tough? Has the game aged well from a gameplay standpoint in regards to difficulty? I remember dying again and again and againnnnnnnn.
@GuyinPA75 I might take the plunge and pick it up this weekend. In regards to Russell, though, are you sure? It wouldn't explain his presence in the game, would it? (Seeing that the game is based after the OG movie). I always assumed the other guy was the thing at the end of the thing.
@Kaloudz I not want say too much since movie is pure awesome and not want leave spoilers. But only reason reason I lean toward Rusell is at beginning of movie at the Swede camp (they're Norwegian!), pay close attention when Russell goes off screen.
@GuyinPA75 I'll have to look out for that. In fact I may watch it this weekend and see what you mean.
Edit: I'm stuck. I've checked and can't see what you're talking about. Can you spoiler tag what you mean so I can see it?
Something about this sale resonates with me and picked up about 5 really good deals such as Vertigo, Beyound a black sky, Disciples and Pathfinder… and I had to pass on a few which I will probably get later - nice!
Assassin's Creed Mirage for £9.99 is looking too good to turn down!
@Kaloudz The achievements are pretty easy to do. And the remaster really showed the games improvements as far as controls. That was the biggest issue for me, and the difficulty has been substantially lowered. But, it's a great game, especially for the price.
@Romans12 I might just have to take the plunge. I watched the Thing (the prequel) last night and it got me in the mood.
@Darylb88 It's a solid game. Shorter than any of the other RPG AC games, and a smaller map, but decent nonetheless.
I want to get Castlevania Dominus but I think if I wait a few more months they'll drop the price to $10 and then I'll nab it. I own every Castlevania game on Xbox. It's one of the few platforms with nearly every release available on one console.
Fair play to @FraserG, because he has saved me a whopping £225.18 by posting this Xbox 'Lunar New Year' Sale article on PureXbox.
Outside of swapping my GameCube with Metroid Prime for my friend's Xbox with the first Halo for a few weeks, so me and my buddy could complete each other's standout console games in late 2002, I don't have much experience with Xbox systems.
My main consoles have always been made by Nintendo, PlayStation and SEGA.
Anyway, my cousin sold me his old laptop, so I've snagged ten games for £77.78 — nine of which were bargains — just before the 'Lunar New Year' sale ends on Thursday 6th February, 2025.
When I searched for Halo Infinite it said on the Xbox Store that it "Should play great on this PC." Therefore, I figured that if my laptop can run Halo Infinite from 2021, then it'll easily play many other Xbox games — especially retro titles.
I was also chuffed to discover that all of the PC games that I've bought from the Microsoft Store can be accessed from the Xbox store, too. I've bought a third party Xbox controller to play my new collection, as well.
I now own an instant library of ten Xbox/Microsoft Store games. Below is my Xbox PC games list.
In total I've spent £77.78 (£6.09 + £5.24 + £7.49 + £5.11 + £9.74 + £18.14 + £7.49 + £11.99 + £3.35 + £3.14 = £77.78).
Also, in total I've saved £225.18 (£29.75 + £7.50 + £7.68 + £55.25 + £36.85 + £22.50 + £48.00 + £5.05 + £12.60 = £225.18).
Many thanks, because £225.18 in savings is not to be trifled with, so good on you to FraserG and Pure Xbox!
@JamieO You're welcome!
