These days, it feels like we're always talking about games that are shutting their servers, or even getting cancelled entirely, but we're rarely talking about titles that have been relisted - unless they're receiving new versions, of course.
It's not out of the realms of possibility though, especially now that Xbox owns Activision and Blizzard. Yes, there will be hoops to jump through, but both of those companies are sitting on a treasure chest of titles that would surely sell pretty well in 2025 - we're talking Deadpool, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, multiple Transformers games and so much more!
Yes, some of these would need to be added to Xbox's backwards compatibility program as well, which unfortunately hasn't received any new additions in years, but surely it's possible, right? It was announced that Team Xbox had "reached the limit" of BC titles back in 2021, but the Activision and Blizzard buyout didn't happen until years later.
We don't have to just look at Activision and Blizzard, either. If we're talking wishlist titles, I personally would love to see Blur getting relisted for modern Xbox consoles, as well as a bunch of old sports games - but I don't think it's very likely.
But consider some of the other stuff - did you know that Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 aren't purchasable anymore on the Xbox Store despite being backwards compatible? Yes, you can still buy the discs for both, but surely Xbox will find a way to bring them back at some point in the future. Those two games are far too legendary to remain delisted forever!
So, let's use this comments section as a chance to share all the games that we'd love to see relisted on Xbox at some point in 2025. It's admittedly a long shot, but you never know what could happen - we're keeping our fingers crossed.
Which Xbox games would you love to see relisted this year? Tell us down in the comments below.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Buffy the Vampire Slayer Chaos Bleeds.
Though I'd much rather Aspyr or Nightdive remaster them both - given that the show is finally making a comeback.
Hunter: The Reckoning is another choice I'd love to see coming back.
The Project Gotham Racing series.
The Orange Box
@Kaloudz I would absolutely love to see the Buffy games come back! I used to have them for the original Xbox (until the games were stolen from me) with talk of the revival getting closer and closer to a reality, I think it's the perfect time for remasters to come out!
Jet Set Radio Future, though I think that is really unlikely, I think it's probably stuck because of music licensing
F.E.A.R. 1
Silent Hill Downpour
Forza Horizon 1, 2, 3, 4
@Necrite Totally agree with you. I'm not sure who has the rights but surely with a soft reboot of the show announced with SMG on board, now is as good a time as any - both games were available on Xbox OG too. That'd be a day one remastered collection for me, without question.
Defense Grid 1
It has been said a million times before but getting the games to run is not always the biggest problem. It is getting all the licensed stuff and digital rights sorted out.
They can probably run a lot of those old games but getting a license renewed from company’s / brands / songs from 10+ years ago is very difficult. Even first party games like forza are being delisted because of rights coming to an end. So how amazing it all sounds , bringing those games back is harder than just making them run on new hardware.
High Moon created a number of Games I'd love to see 'rebooted' - or at least upgraded for modern hardware and expectations. Games like Darkwatch, Deadpool and Transformers the Cybertron games!
I'd rather they got 'rebooted/remade' with out the restrictions that older hardware created. I'd love to see 'old' games remade without the limitations that old hardware restricted them too. How much had to be compromised or even cut from the project? How much was the Ambition curtailed by the realities of the hardware at the time?
@themightyant that deserves a remaster à la the Portal collection on Switch that runs at 60fps. You could run them at 120fps on Xbox. It would be glorious.
I'd love to see Blur, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 & 2 make a return
@ButterySmooth30FPS I really wish they had versions of the Forza Horizon games with generic cars, like Burnout Paradise
The activision transformers games and Deadpool would be great to see!
Not an Xbox studio but wish they'd have sorted out dishwasher vampire smiles n dead samurai 😥 pretty sure ska studios even said they wanted to get it back 😭😭. 2 of the best xbla games ever. Also dust an elysian tale 😥
Outrun 2 / OutRun 2006 / OutRun Online HD. I just want this gem of a game officially playable on modern hardware. Come on Sega, make it happen!
@Decimateh oh yeah I loved them some real gems came out back in the day
Please just make a sequel or remake the Shadowrun shooter.
Best. Shooter. Ever.
Xmen legends, punisher, nightmare before christmas oogies revenge
Whilst I have no problem with Microsoft going third party I do take some pleasure knowing my Xbox 360 will always be so.
The ramainig games in the Army of Two trilogy, MechAssault, Tenchu Return to Darkness, both True Crime games, Ghost Recon 2 and Summit Strike
Left 4 Dead 1 & 2. Been playing on my Asus Rog Ally via Steam. But would love to play on Xbox again.
@Necrite Man what timing 😔 it's just been announced that Michelle Trachtenberg (Dawn Summers) has died.

All the marvel games. From the xmen movie tie-in games to ultimate alliance to the Spiderman games.
X-Men Legends and Activision Transformer games are the games I’m most hopeful for
I find it so bizarre they were willing to make a backwards compatibility program but not do anything to maintain the library of games it offers from being removed. By virtue of the sale licenses expiring and devs delisting their own games, within the next few years it'll get to the point where if you don't already have the games, it's not a feature you can use. To the point it'd likely be a waste of resources to make it work on the next Xbox console.
Aside from that, while I'd love the Activision games being added, I'd rather have the ability to play things like War for Cybertron of MUA online, even if it meant paying for a Remaster.
Space Marine, I'd like to replay it, I gamefly'd it back then lol. Grimskull was such a a badass.
@themightyant the TF2 servers are alive and well, I was playing just last month!
-Transformers: War For Cybertron
-Transformers: Fall of Cybertron
-Deadpool
-Marvel Alliance 1&2
-Eternal Sonata
-Chronicles of Riddick
I suspect all of these are delisted and not back compat because of licensing deals. But I can dream. The 2 Transformers games in particular were 2 of my favorite 360 games ever.
@Kaloudz Yeah I heard, and the news hit hard, I've been a Buffy fan a long time and before that I saw Harriet The Spy in theaters, I didn't want to believe the headlines, I wanted to believe it was some dumb internet joke or something. I was really hoping she'd reprise her role as Dawn.
New stuff like soldier of fortune 2 (its on gog + they own activision) crazy taxi 3, jsrf, cod 1.
Delisted sega games in general like sega gt, sega rally revo, outrun 2.. BURNOUT 3! A long shot because of music but the old tony hawk games.
The backward compatibility ending is sorely missed, many more 360 games could really use enhancements and/or fps boosts
@GuyinPA75 Loved that Shadowrun game and played the heck out of it. I did jump back online briefly when Xbox fixed the servers a year back and had some more fun.
Would love to see Project Gotham Racing 2 or 3 return.
But even more so, I'm dying to play Culdcept Saga again. Selling my PS2 and X360 copies of the Culdcept games is probably my biggest gaming regret.
I want them to do something with all the IPs they’ve acquired and just hoard and don’t even know they have, like the old Sierra games for one. The infocom text adventures are another example; they could easily release those on pc game pass.
@Necrite Me and you both! Poor girl. So so young. Like you, I was a huge fan of the show. I still watch it every few years or so (as well as Angel, and Firefly) so I was gutted to hear of it. Nice to see all her Buffy co-stars making announcements about her though.
There are probably more delisted backwards compatible games, but some that I know of -

@brettvsgodzilla ye were some bangers. xbla was one of the best things Xbox ever did 😥
@Cakefish - you may know this already but just in case you don’t - there’s a ‘hack’ to run all The Orange Box games at 60fps on Series consoles (do a Google to find the YouTube video). You will need access to an XB360 and the game on disc, but if you have got that it is definitely worth the bother. I played through Half Life 2 on Series X at 4K60fps last year and it still holds up superbly. Wish they would just patch and re-release the game digitally and I’d buy on day 1.
Blur Blur Blur Blur Blur Blur.
Blur.
Some great mentions in this thread. Tenchu, shadowrun giving me nostalgia. I never played transformers but always see them mentioned so would love a remaster
