So, we've just finished watching today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, and the first thing that stands out at first glance is that the Switch is getting Final Fantasy 7 Remake Integrade, but there's still no announcement for Xbox as of yet.
We've been waiting for this game on Xbox for years and years at this point, constantly listening to speculation and rumours about when exactly it might happen, and then it goes and gets announced for the Switch 2 instead!
All we can do at this point is cross our fingers that Square Enix is about to reveal something after the embargo is lifted alongside all of today's Nintendo Switch 2 reveals. Perhaps we'll hear something before the end of the day, even.
For what it's worth, we have heard that Square Enix is apparently planning to bring Final Fantasy 7 Remake along with a few other FF games to Xbox at some point in 2025 / 2026, so here's hoping they're not that far away.

Doesn’t this confirm that Sony has an exclusion clause specific to Xbox with Square Enix for these games?

@GamingFan4Lyf If there isn't additional info later today that it is also coming to Xbox, I think you can correctly assume so.

I can definitely see series s audience shifting towards switch 2. Slightly less performance but way more games and exclusives. Plus portability, and all bells and whistles.
And series s audience are not looking for latest & greatest graphics-performance.
Damn xbox position will be getting worse.
@avoidercat because unfortunately its becoming a new norm and if you are looking for a bigger library you are better off at any platform aside from xbox.

@avoidercat This is the most popular article on Pure Xbox right now. We still do reviews (and "hands on" impressions), but sadly they don't generate anywhere near as much interest.
As I always say with stuff like this, we'll go where the demand is.
@JON22 It's lower on my want list than other SquareEnix stuff, but it really should be on Xbox. Maybe we hear something today or at the next Xbox showcase. If not, I think that ship has sailed.

@themightyant Nate the leaker did reveal earlier this year (January) that Square are releasing this game on Switch 2 and Xbox - so I assume we hear something soon. If not I'd say summer showcase. I definitely think it's coming based on leakers all pointing towards Switch 2 and Xbox as platforms the game is coming to. I guess we just sit and wait lol.
It didn't take Square Enix long to fall back into old habits when it comes to the Xbox fandom.
No we don't need a mediocre RPG on Xbox. We already got the best Final Fantasy game on it already, Final Fantasy VI.
@avoidercat Right? It's so annoying. Just a quick look at Pushsquare shows half a dozen articles on games that PureXbox could be writing about.
Like, how come there is no mention of Sabrina Carpenter coming to Fortnite or Dead By Daylight getting a Tokyo Ghoul chapter? Since Batman Arkham Knight is coming to Gamepass Core, why not a retrospective article on the Arkham games? Silent Hill F is announced, why not do an article on SH HD collection?
How come there isn't an article of how the Tomb Raider amazon show is having production problems? There are so many video game news happening all the time that include Xbox. It's so weird to read articles where Xbox is excluded.
Pretty sure this is where Sony still has some say on this, especially given the last two Namco titles that had similar exclusivity attached to them

@Utena-mobile We have a much smaller team than Push Square. I'm actually running Pure Xbox almost entirely on my own this week.
We also have a smaller audience share than Nintendo Life and Push Square, so some of the more niche stories that you might find over there aren't going to perform as well here. They won't attract enough views or comments to make them worth my time.
We have to prioritise what we cover. There are only so many hours in a day and so many stories that can be written about. I'm already working 10 hour days on here this week.
@Valhura You can choose to look at it that way if you want to, but I'm just trying to prioritise stories that people are most interested in.

@Utena-mobile It's OK! Everyone has their right to an opinion and I certainly pay attention to all the comments - just wanted to clear up that there are specific reasons why we cover certain types of content and don't get to the others.
Pure Xbox is in a good place, but it's just always been a small team - and so we really have to pick and choose what we talk about. If it were up to me, we'd cover 30+ stories a day! 😅

Asked Nate the Hate about this on Twitter and he says they’re still coming to Xbox. Remake this year and Rebirth next year. I believe him as one of the most reliable insiders out there.

@Kaloudz What I mean is, xbox one has been out for years, a console that's capable of running the game. And also the series s|x. And the switch 2 has just been announced. So it's a bit strange to see a game release on a new platform than an existing platform. It's like saying they don't see xbox.

@CutchuSlow I wouldn't worry too much bud. Nate the leaker (one of the few reliable ones) said this January that the game is coming to Xbox and Switch 2 in 2025. I think we hear of the Xbox version either before the Switch 2 launch, or the Summer Showcase.
