PC is already an Xbox Pro if you want it to be and the reality is that this PS5 Pro is a smaller upgrade then even the PS4 Pro was. This 33tflops is nonsense, for RDNA3 they effectively double their numbers, so a 35tflops 7700xt performs the same as a 16tflop 6800
Console gaming has already set about changing, with only Nintendo now making games that are exclusive to their console. Xbox have long since moved from their console being their primary market, whilst Sony are quickly playing catchup on PC.
I don't expect console to vanish anytime soon but we are very much coming to the end of games being made just for them
I'm a big fan of remasters of games that aren't available on modern platforms such as what Nightdive Studios has done with Star Wars, Exhumed and the Turok games for example plus the recent Tomb Raider trilogy.
Stuff like Sony re-releasing PS4 games on PS5 and charging for the upgrade, I'm not a fan of, especially when others do so for free such as Xbox and third parties like Capcom. Speaking of Capcom their Resident Evil Remakes have largely been tremendous
Simplistic level design and objectives by modern standards? Most modern FPS games I've played are just follow the yellow marker through very linear levels.
In any case, I've not played this one since back on the PS1 and I'm excited to play it again when I get home. FPS games such as this are way more interesting then the majority (with a few exceptions) made these days
They'll have to do a lot more than that to make me use their app over Steam, its embarrassing how far behind this and Epic are. Both of whom seem scared to design something to be useful on a desktop
@Krydle I think I've had good image quality once, generally its pretty poor and Stadia was a way better experience overall whilst it lasted, without being great itself. This is on PC with very fast Internet, so perhaps your location can have a big impact upon the experience
The Remastered Trilogy for me, I much prefer these over the modern games. Traversal is much more challenging and interesting because of it in these games and the absence of map markers and crafting and such feels like a breath of fresh air these days
Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth and it's dizzying amount of things to do, from full on Animal Crossing to Pokemon, arcade games and much more. The core gameplay brings classic JRPG mechanics into the modern age all with a great story.
Oh amd some classic Tomb Raider Remastered, which feels amazing to play an adventure game without constant chatter from either the main character or their sidekick. You're just free to explore in peace
Racing game of the year π Sorry but it's a bit of a mess.
I did really enjoy Starfield last year and there are a few Xbox games I'm really looking forward to this year, more so than in quite a few years in fact.
Though as above I'd love to see a new Banjo or Conker game
I feel this is just the start and we'll see more and more games heading to Playstation over time, not necessarily at launch. Likewise Playstation will move closer to day and date launches on PC and perhaps even put games on Xbox down the line.
What's clear is that console business models don't look to be sustainable with how game development costs and times are increasing
In terms of pure numbers it will no doubt be the biggest technical leap but the reality is that all the big leaps in gaming happened a long time ago and will never be matched.
My PC isn't far off being 4x the power of a Series X and I wouldn't say its a huge leap over the console, I just get better framerates and good ray tracing. Not to mention the more powerful these get, the longer it seemingly takes to make games for them
I've not played it as it doesn'treally appeal to me, though I have followed its progress out of curiosity. On PC it seems to be basically dead, with Arkham Knight having close to double its players as I write this.
It just seems that fans of the studio and DC aren't excited by this game
The best part about all of this has been watching the fanboys having a meltdown on Twitter.
For me personally, it's more of a curiosity than anything else. I play Xbox games on PC these days anyway through Steam and don't see that changing anytime soon
I've no need for it being on a 4070ti but it's good to see it finally being supported for those that can get use out of it. One of the most frustrating things about PC gaming at the moment, is all of these technologies not always being fully implemented
Nope, I played a bit at launch and was hugely disappointed. Its PC performance is largely terrible and it's single player is structured rather poorly and is just plain dull to be honest
I tried it again recently and it was beyond comical how the Daytona track has its pitlane exit completely blocked, instead spitting you out into the braking zone of turn 1. It has improved overall but some big issues remain such as the lack of a radar for close racing.
Overall I've just found it pretty disappointing and it doesn't give me a reason to play over GT7 or ACC
@Romans12 what a childish response, I've been on here longer than you "kid" and will stay on this website should I wish. I play games on all platforms but at least I know to ignore your nonsense from now on, so thanks for that at least
@BacklogBrad thing is we really aren't that far into this generation as most of it so far has been cross gen. Its only the last 6 months or so that have seen either side leave last gen behind and even then, many 3rd party games haven't yet. At this point sales should be going up, so for this to be happening is very bad news
@themightyant yeah its a bit silly trying to blame a weaker than expected console market when the PS5 and Switch are both hugely successful and sadly Xbox just aren't at the races for several reasons
@Lightning720 yes and no, those numbers are misleading in one respect as it includes games only available digitally anyway. Sure digital is increasing but Nintendo games still sell better physically and even new Sony releases still sell more physically at launch and it's always better to have options whilst we still can
It's nice to see an Xbox site recognising its success on Steam. All I've seen all day online is its success being attributed to Gamepass despite its player base being 78% on Steam at one point.
Regardless of how you play though, this looks a lot of fun and I'm going to try it out when I get home
It did give us some key information about player split, as they've tweeted they have server issues as concurrent players have topped 700,000 and at the time 550,000 were on Steam, so between Epic, Xbox PC and consoles that's 150,000 is players
Frankly it's a disgrace, regardless of anyone's opinions on physical vs digital, this is a game from the platform holder who sell a console with a disc drive. Those customers should be supported by them and we've already had HiFi Rush recently skip on a physical copy and now this
I'm delighted it's first person, it's not like there hasn't been a lot of 3rd person Tomb Raider and Uncharted games, so at the very least this should feel fresh instead of being yet another 3rd person adventure game
A very strong A, it was well presented and I like the focus on just a few good looking games than an endless stream of filler content. Indiana Jones was the highlight but in all honesty, I can see myself playing all of those games
These days it's pretty great but it did take a long time to fix the look of some of the games, I think Halo 2 was only sorted a couple of years ago. A great collection that was visually inconsistent for a long time but is in a good spot now and a bargain for the price. The only slight issue now from memory is that you have to download the entire thing before being able to remove games, whilst on Steam you can just select what you want up front
This game has many issues, it badly needs a radar for a start, matchmaking needs to be significantly improved. I'd rip up the car levelling up, I see what they were going for but it's tedious, oh and sort out it's PC performance.
I really wanted to like this game but it's in a pretty sorry state at the moment with it's player base pretty much non existent on Steam and in the UK at least, didn't even chart in the top 400 last year
It's utterly ridiculous, you can't enable auto upload by default and then ban users for playing a game and taking a screenshot of it. Xbox 100% caused this issue, either disable auto upload by default or automatically age restrict screenshots and videos based upon the game they are from but don't ban gamers for normal use of the console
This has been very low on my list of priorities since I first saw it and it's not gone up since. I've got way too many games I want to play before I even consider this
For as many screenshots I take across all platforms, I never actually go back to look at them. Then again I take a lot of pictures on my phone and never bother to look at them either π

Re: Ubisoft's 'Quadruple-A' Game Skull & Bones Is Already Getting Price Cuts
Kind of baffling how bad this game is considering they basically made a much better version 10 years ago and have Sea of Thieves to copy too.
Re: Poll: How Often Do You Buy Games That Have Been 'Remade' Or 'Remastered'?

Re: WWE 2K24 Unveils Stacked Roster Of DLC, Including Two Former AEW Stars
I preferred last year's model of rubbish dlc so I didn't have to buy it π. There's wrestlers I want this time around

Re: Poll: Will You Be Playing Any Of Xbox's New Multiplatform Games On Other Consoles?
My PC is well beyond the capabilities of the consoles, so I'll stick to playing Sea of Thieves and all my games on that

Whoa, didn't Phil say there were only 4 games going to other platforms but here we are a few days later with 5 more already π
Re: Bethesda Releasing New Fallout Anthology Including 7 'Incredible' Games
That looks cool, I already own most of them on Steam but quite like that mini nuke so might preorder it
Re: Sea Of Thieves' New Xbox Update Is Almost 100GB, But There's A Good Reason For It
Got to love how badly the Microsoft store handles its own games compared to Steam.
Still it's a very fun game and I need to get back on it at some point
Re: Pick One: Which Is Your Favourite Tomb Raider Game On Xbox?

Re: Review: Skull & Bones - Solid Combat Saves The Day In Ubisoft's Middling Pirate Playground
If they stripped away their nonsense RPG mechanics and just focused on having some well designed stages, this could be a fun game, as is its a pass
Re: Pick One: Which 2024 First-Party Game Are You Most Looking Forward To From Xbox?
Indiana Jones and then Avowed, I might give Flight Simulator a go as well
Re: Here's What The Reviews Are Saying About Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered
Wow that Radio Times review is one of the worst I've ever seen. Who knew that a game from the 90's might not play like a game made 20 years later.
I'm going to be jumping back into these with tank controls and enjoying not having map markers or yellow paint to hold my hands around the levels

Re: Talking Point: Which Apps Do You Use The Most On Your Xbox?
@rustyduck for doing what? My PC barely uses more than my PS5 and might have double the power draw when pushed
Re: Talking Point: Which Apps Do You Use The Most On Your Xbox?
YouTube is the only app I use on console as my TV app is a bit slow, for Amazon I just use my TV and I don't watch any of the others
Re: Ubisoft Defends Skull And Bones Pricing, Insists It's A 'Complete' Package
They can put as many A's on it as they like, I'm still not paying that for the sailing bit from Black Flag
I'll stick to Sea of Thieves

There's very few EA games I'm interested in playing and on PC I can't be bothered with their rubbish app, so don't bother with them through Gamepass
