Re: Mortal Kombat 11 Has Now Sold More Than 12 Million Copies Worldwide

Fantastic game and it was great to see them supporting Switch too. For a fighting game it's got a really good story and some amazing fan service for people who are old enough to play the original. Speaking of which, I still remember when that launched on Megadrive and SNES and caused quite a stir and its crazy to think here I am some 30 years later and still playing it

Re: Don't Worry, Microsoft Flight Simulator 'Maintains A High Standard' On Xbox Series S

@thenewguy for the most part its completely fine but a couple of areas on the new dlc and certain combinations of effects introduce pretty obnoxious screen tearing, its frustrating when it's likely to be only a small settings tweak to fix it. As you said frame rate locks and consistency should be the overwhelming priority and especially when you're playing with the grunt the Series X has

@Neverwild the PS5 isn't playing any of them though, I can pick up a compatible 360 or og Xbox disc and just put it in my Series X and play that game at much higher quality then the original version, all without paying a monthly subscription. Ironic that one of the main criticisms in the article was the Gamepass subscription and your defence was a subscription

Re: Not Everyone Is Happy With Xbox's Recent Comments About Preservation

@BAMozzy well said and for me Xbox is doing far more to make their games, old and new, available to everybody, regardless of how, where and when they want to play and even how they pay for them then the other 2 combined. Without repeating what I said just above, what are Sony and Nintendo really doing to preserve their games from generations past?

Re: Not Everyone Is Happy With Xbox's Recent Comments About Preservation

Yes Xbox has some issues with DRM, at the very least Xbox One games should be able to be installed without an internet connection and cross gen games should have a Series X disc edition available to buy.

However look at what the have done, you can buy games from the 360 and original Xbox and play them on their latest console, not only that but if you happened to play a 360 game years ago then they still even have your save file waiting for you. Can PS5 play PS3 games? No and they were about to close it's store as well and continually ignore their own history, PS Now exists but it's just a streaming service where you can't buy the games. Oh and then we have Nintendo who's only way to play it's legacy titles is a subscription and even then it's very limited and worse then what was on offer with the Wii some 15 years ago.

I do wonder why the Xbox is bashed in this regard when they seemingly have done more then the other 2 combined and despite not having the history that either of those have. There seems to be a huge bias towards those two in the media and gaming public but when you really think about what each is doing, then Xbox is doing at least as much for gamers and in most areas, far more

Re: Valve's New Steam Deck Can Be Used As A Handheld Xbox

@The_New_Butler just looking through their website now and found this

Your Steam Library, anywhere
Once you've logged into Steam Deck, your entire Steam Library shows up, just like any other PC. You'll be able to find your collections and favorites - exactly where you left them.

A new Steam operating system
On Steam Deck, your games run on a different operating system than the one on your desktop PC. It's a new version of SteamOS, built with Steam Deck in mind and optimized for a handheld gaming experience. It comes with Proton, a compatibility layer that makes it possible to run your games without any porting work needed from developers. For Deck, we're vastly improving Proton's game compatibility and support for anti-cheat solutions by working directly with the vendors. “Hold on to your butts!”

So yeah all of your games will play

This is really exciting for me, a handheld gaming PC and all of the other possibilities gaming wise with it being a PC. When this comes out I suspect I'll rarely use my Switch as aside from the odd button layout this looks more comfortable to use and performance is no contest.

I can essentially play my Steam library and much of my Xbox library all as basically a handheld console, not to mention it's emulation potential. Bring it on

Re: A Plague Tale: Innocence Dev Highlights The Brilliance Of Xbox Smart Delivery

As someone who has owned both a PS5 and Series X, there is absolutely no contest between them in usability.

On PS5 I put a cross gen game in, have to tell it not to install the PS4 version every time I wanted to play it, fiddle through menu's to find my cloud saves and hope I don't have to boot the last gen game up to transfer, search through my entire library of games including disc based to find a game to play and no way to organise this mess

On Xbox just sign in and everything is where I already put it, or put a disc in, game automatically is the correct version and automatically gets my save file

Re: Talking Point: Are Next-Gen Upgrades Worth Getting An Xbox Series X|S For?

@BlueOcean couldn't agree more, its the perfect blend of new state of the art gaming and making some classic games look absolutely stunning as well. It's a dream having a console where I can play the latest Resident Evil game or Yakuza but then just a few seconds later I could be playing Daytona USA or Tales of Monkey Island. Its this perfect blend of modern and classic gaming all with enhancements and game like Sea of Thieves look absolutely amazing.

Both this and PS5 are great consoles but Sony have soured that somewhat with them being less then honest about their intentions and their scummy business practices of charging you extra per game to use the hardware. Even without that there are more games I want to play on my Series X today then on PS5 and many more upcoming over the next few years

Re: Talking Point: Are Next-Gen Upgrades Worth Getting An Xbox Series X|S For?

For me the Series X has been worth every penny, the only game I've finished that has released since next gen is RE Village. At the moment I'm flicking between Metro Exodus and Yakuza Like a Dragon, with Metro in particular looking pretty sensational, plus the added auto HDR for my older games.

It's definitely been a slow start to the generation but its about to pick up in the next few months. Still some of the upgrades I've seen so far have been great and games like Sea of Thieves feel so much better to play at 60fps and look stunning too.

The best part though is not being charged $10 per game to actually use the hardware I've already paid for, unlike a certain other platform holder and I can honestly say its the best new console I've owned for over a decade
