It's always been silly, even more so these days when there's so little difference between the hardware, online cross play and the vast majority of games are on both anyway. I just enjoy playing video games and don't care so much what the box is that's playing them
This is pretty fun, I wouldn't say Goldeneye style though, the upcoming Agent 64 looks to better replicate the look and gameplay of Goldeneye/Perfect Dark than this does. That said it does remind me of The World is Not Enough N64 game and for a few quid you can't really go wrong
I don't even buy Xbox games on the Xbox App on PC as its rubbish compared to Steam, and weirdly Xbox's own games are even more expensive on it than Steam. These days I choose whether I want to play a game on my console or PC as whilst this had good intentions, far too many games are missing to make it a consideration
One thing they really need to do is increase the number of random outposts and caves as it completely ruins the exploration when you come across the exact same interior time after time. The curated stuff is largely great but being so spread out means that going off the beaten path rarely rewards you with something interesting like previous Bethesda games
I've played it for about 90 hours but not touched it for the last couple of months, I'll probably jump back on for the expansion and any additions it gets
Well I played Xbox more than Playstation and the Streets of Rage collection was my third most played game. Overall Forza Horizon 5 was top, I played Starfield way more but that was on Steam
Surely nobody thought this was genuinely coming to last gen consoles.
As for the trailer I thought it was alright, the graphics look really good but I'd much rather have seen some gameplay instead of some tiktok videos being recreated.
I've no doubt the game is going to be good but I won't be a hypocrite and criticise others for not showing gameplay and then get all giddy over this for doing the same. Oh and it'll obviously be 30fps on Series S and I doubt it'll be 60 on the others with that crowd density and level of detail
I bought this on Steam and there's not a game I've put more hours into this year. It's a shame it took them so long to fix Nvidia performance and add basic features like DLSS but overall its a really good game, with the quirkiest NG+ I've played
@HonestHick I wouldn't say Sony has shown very little interest in the genre, every PS5 comes with Astro Bot for a start, then there's also Sackboy and Ratchet & Clank.
@PsBoxSwitchOwner not every fan but yeah there's certainly a subsection across all fandoms but there is a bias towards PS. I even saw articles celebrating the success of the "PS5" game Baulders Gate 3 at a time when it was literally only available on PC.
Xbox has certainly done itself no favours over recent years and when you think it's biggest gane this year was Starfield, a game which would have been on the Xbox anyway without the acquisition. That kind of illustrates where Xbox really are and are still trying to recover from last gen in terms of their first party output. More so these days, many gamers now have large existing libraries, making a change between platforms more unlikely.
I think this year has proven people just buy Playstation for the sake of it. Sony have released next to nothing for the PS5 and don't have a road map of upcoming big games, yet are on course to have their best ever year for console sales. At this point it's just brand recognition and their borderline rabid online fans who put every game Sony make on a pedestal above all others
I think Street Fighter 6 was hard done by more so than Starfield, I really enjoyed Starfield but it's not even in my top 4 or 5 games this year. The only nominated game I'd really question would probably be Spider-Man 2
@Fiendish-Beaver I'm having a blast with it, the gunplay is very satisfying and there's a nice mix of corridor shooting and some open hub areas that you can explore. I've played Terminator Resistance and this is a nice improvement over that in pretty much every area. It looks a lot better and has some recognisable scenes and faces from the films
It's certainly being the best of the last few years for me, though I seriously doubt that if I bothered to look back at releases across all 20 that this year would come out on top. I have played some great new games in Zelda TOTK, RE4, Starfield and currently Alan Wake 2 and Robocop, whilst the Cyberpunk dlc was also really good
I've just finished Mario Wonder and had a quick go of Spider-Man 2 but Alan Wake 2 has taken over and could well be the best game I've played this year
@OldGamer999 Resident Evil 4 is practically a straight up 3rd person shooter, this is very much a phycological horror game with the emphasis largely on it's story with a bit of action too. If you're looking for something along the lines of RE4, then this isn't it
I've only played for an hour or so but this game is great so far and on a high end PC looks stunning, it still looks very good for console players without RT. I wasn't the biggest fan of the original but did enjoy the story and Control was one of the highlights of recent years and this seems to be at least as good
It depends how you look at the numbers, we don't really know how many are playing on Xbox but looking at Steam this is well below the current players of both Forza Horizon 4 and 5.
I tried this on PC and it had quite a few issues even if the underlying game seems pretty good and I'll return to it when they fix its performance
It's PC performance is pretty dreadful and very odd considering how well the Forza Horizon games run on PC, just changing a framerate setting caused it to lurch between 40 and 80fps almost corner to corner.
As for the game itself, I found the intro to be hugely annoying as the game constantly talked at me instead of letting me play it. That and the structure of the single player just isn't very good and I suspect the car levelling up system is the cause of cars feeling like driving on ice, at least to start with.
On a more positive note, an upgraded car felt quite fun to drive and the AI felt more alive than in something like GT and the game looks great, so if they can fix that PC performance it could be in a good place
Tried it on PC earlier and it's a pretty shoddy port, which is bizarre given how well the Forza Horizon games run and is one of the worst racing games I've played on PC in that regard.
Both games look great, though GT7 is somewhat inconsistent with some tracks being plucked from GT Sport and others built specifically for it looking better, though apparently that's the same for some cars on Forza.
What Forza will benefit from is dynamic time of day and weather on all tracks and whilst I had fun with GT7, it's chase cam is beyond awful and its racing became tiresome just starting from the back forever and the less said about having cars out of stock, the better
GT7 is feature rich now? I thought its campaign was lacklustre compared to its own better previous entries, with the Cafe being no more than window dressing to cover up a lack of single player content and the awful way it handles how you can or usually can't buy cars.
Sadly it seems to be the way for modern racing games, I guess this is yet another that's probably best played in a year or two when it's actually finished. I'll still give it a go now whilst I still have Gamepass as the core racing does seem to be good
I'm playing on PC and Dogtown is far more demanding on the CPU than anywhere else in the game, especially near the roundabout where it sits around 80% usage on my 5800X3D even when I'm stood still. Which in turn is up from around 70% usage outside of V's apartment block, so hopefully this gets smoothed out
@Lightning720 I'm playing on PC and after 80 hours I haven't had a single crash. So far its been by far and away the most reliable Bethesda game I've played, the worst I've seen is a couple of npc's float away.
I'm kind of bouncing between the pair of them, with a greater focus on Phantom Liberty for the moment but don't really see them as similar games outside of being an RPG. If anything I'm happy they have very different strengths and weaknesses as I'd hate for all games just to play like one another.
Once I'm done with Cyberpunk's dlc I suspect I'll probably leave it at that, whilst Starfield like Skyrim before it, will be one I return to again and again other the years
Why is the only comparison development costs when comparing to old games? They always conveniently forget that cartridge manufacturing and distribution was also significantly more expensive than shipping a disc with no manual and digital distribution. Not to mention bigger games today regularly selling many more copies.
These days I rarely buy games day one or close to launch with Zelda, Starfield and RE4 being the only games I have done this year. Though to be fair to Capcom they are one of the last to increase their prices and RE4 is as good as anything I've played this gen, in fact it's better than most I've seen at £70
@S1ayeR74 Sony also manufacture many times more of the disc version, so it would be impossible for the digital to get even remotely close to its sales. At this moment the standard digital model is unavailable on Amazon and Playstation's own store.
Also last gen, the standard PS4 remained the best selling version after the Pro came out
@BAMozzy that how I've been with Starfield, I just don't want to play anything else at the moment. I did try the Cyberpunk patch and it's a huge improvement and looks stunning on my PC but I still went straight back to Starfield and have a crazy amount of things to do even after around 70 hours
Good news and bad news, it's great that they've finally listened to player feedback but I see no reason why rewards and progression shouldn't be the same. A better solution would have been to add extra rewards for the high seas
I've been playing a bit with my level 50 character on PC and some of the new skills are so much fun, like jumping off moving vehicles or using a sword like a Jedi and the updated police system is great. Oh and on a high end PC it looks absolutely insane
The reality is most gamers don't care about having the most powerful hardware, just look at the success of Switch. If there was a lower priced weaker PS5 then that would be the best selling model and last gen when the Pro and One X launched, the standard consoles still sold better
@RIghteousNixon the more I played Starfield the more I enjoyed it, I'm currently on ng+ and doing many more side quests with an interesting companion. When this dlc drops I'll be bouncing between the 2 for some time
I can't wait to play this, I already enjoyed the base game and the improvements sound huge. Personally I'll be playing on PC with a 4070ti for some ray tracing goodness but ot sounds a great time wherever you play
@BAMozzy I myself play their games on PC and you make a very good point about that. I think this is more of a final push towards all digital for Xbox, given the current X seemingly isn't in line for these updates and them making their games available across multiple devices, the console just being one of them. As opposed to Sony and Nintendo who are very much still in the realm of buy our hardware to play our games
@Tonmoy one of them is, the other is a brand new product and I'm not against them revising the S again for such reasons, consoles get iterations all the time but you don't have another launch for them

Starfield has become my favourite Bethesda RPG overtaking Skyrim, I enjoyed it's main story more than any of the others and I'm still discovering it's side quests but I've already had lots of amazing moments. In this if you go and explore on your own then you probably won't have a great time, in the others you'll stumble upon actual quests but in this it's much less likely. Re: Review: Assassin's Creed Valhalla - The Best Entry To Date, And A Series X Showpiece
Weakest of the 3 for me, gameplay is good but the world is far too big and bloated, whilst the zealots weren't as good as the mercenaries.
A decent game that would be better if it were half the size
