Re: Soapbox: Two Years In, FPS Boost Is My Xbox 'Game' Of The Generation So Far

carlos82

Really? It's a decent feature sure but I can't personally think of a game I've played with it and looking through the list there isn't many I would and add to that it's already finished and has no future.

If anything I suspect this only highlights Xbox's issues over the last few years if a handful of last gen or 360 games getting a boost is the best feature of a next gen console

Re: PSA: Steam Users, Did You Know About This Great Xbox Game Pass Extension?

carlos82

A nice idea but generally the games I buy on Steam I want to keep and 99% of the time aren't on Gamepass anyway, so not much use for me.

I will say that these days the Xbox PC app is much better, it was next to useless just a few months ago. My only real complaint now is having to deal with EA's abysmal launcher for their games, so much so that I don't even bother with them

Re: Xbox Game Pass Growth Slower Than Expected After Microsoft Sets High Targets

carlos82

That's what happens when you bank on the mythical mobile market. These are still good numbers taking into account consoles and PC but I'm tired of so many (not just Xbox) quote these billion or so mobile gamers, the overwhelming majority of whom would never play a console style game or buy dedicated hardware to play.

As I said I still think these are good numbers given their install base and it's clear cloud gaming isn't ready to take off. Then as others have pointed out, you have Xbox's own lack of first party output. When this picks up perhaps those numbers will be even better

Re: Xbox Still Open To Streaming Device, But It Could Be 'Years Away'

carlos82

@Bleachedsmiles if keystone had a hard drive then what is it for without any other hardware? It couldn't play games without connecting to the cloud rendering it a pointless inclusion.

I'm well aware of Stadia's other faults but there just isn't a demand for such a device and Microsoft obviously believe the same, hence why they went down the TV route which makes much more sense in the long run. The market for an Xbox that only plays a fraction of its games and have to be streamed, I would argue is very small.

I'm not really here to argue the merits of cloud gaming, I can see why it would be attractive to some but as for myself I have no use for it at all

Re: Xbox Still Open To Streaming Device, But It Could Be 'Years Away'

carlos82

@Bleachedsmiles it won't though, what's the market for a dedicated streaming gaming device? Otherwise they would have already done it and if keystone had hardware to download and play the games then that's just a Series S

@PhileasFragg is that really that much cheaper when you consider how much less capable it is and you wouldn't have access to the vast majority of the Xbox library? I don't see many not just buying the Series S instead and given that Stadia was a failure kind of proves it.

Cloud gaming makes sense on existing devices, not on dedicated hardware

Re: Xbox Still Open To Streaming Device, But It Could Be 'Years Away'

carlos82

Such a device makes no commercial sense, you're gonna have to pack it with a controller and realistically why would anyone buy it over a Series S which can do both? It makes much more sense for these cloud services just to be an app on existing devices such as your TV or cable box.

It's like those streaming handheld like that Logitech thing which are trying to compete with a Steam Deck for the same price

Re: Warner Bros Reveals Why Gotham Knights Will Be 30FPS On Xbox Series X|S

carlos82

@Acurisur I've already stated I was exaggerating but the chips in these are stricty speaking an SOC as opposed to an APU.

In either case a 3600 should not be beating any of these consoles and I feel its more likely a development time issue and they've just come up with an excuse rather than just simply saying we're targeting 30fps at launch

Re: Warner Bros Reveals Why Gotham Knights Will Be 30FPS On Xbox Series X|S

carlos82

@Kaloudz it's funny you mention Dreamcast as more than half of its games run at 60fps, in fact it probably has the highest percentage of 60fps games until this generation. If anything being a gamer for over 30 years I'd say the PS3/360 years had some of the worst performance (along with N64) and those alongside PS4/Xbox One made 30fps the default for so many games.

Re: Xbox & PlayStation Stuck In 'Complicated' Call Of Duty Situation, Says Geoff Keighley

carlos82

@themightyant both are, it's just usually a bit more obvious with Jim.

I've been gaming for far too long and things like this are nothing new. Nintendo used to do it with Sega, then Sony took over and did it to everyone and now its back and forth between Xbox and Playstation. I just wish they wouldn't say things like how they think it'll affect their fans as neither care when taking games away from the other. Jim is worried about losing put on the microtransactions flowing through their store and nothing else.

Re: PlayStation Boss Heavily Criticises Xbox For 'Inadquate' Call Of Duty Offer

carlos82

Needs to set the record straight? Sony have done the same thing for decades and seems happy to pay to keep Final Fantasy away from Xbox. I have little sympathy for a company who are happy to rip off their customers by charging more for their games just because they can, oh and £70 remasters.

All Jim is upset about is losing a cut of those microtransactions, he couldn't care less about the impact on their players, which let's face it just amounts to getting another console

Re: Xbox Turned Down The Chance To Make Exclusive Marvel Games In 2014

carlos82

As some have alluded to, Spider-Man is a great game because of Insomniac and we've had plenty of mediocre Spider-Man games over the years. MS made the right decision as I doubt the place they were in at the time would have made a game anywhere near as good. I mean here we are 8 years down the line and they're still struggling to get games out of the door
